The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Tinea

Both my children have psoriasis and fungal skin infections. I have white spots all over my legs, some of which are raised and a bit itchy, some of which are about the size of a pea and others just pinprick size. They are a bit itchy, and feel as though they have cobweb floating over them. When my daughter first got a fungal skin infection I developed severe coughing, which went when the infection was treated with prescription drugs. Now I am itchy all the time, particularly at night, and feel irritable and ill in the mornings when I wake up - groggy, a bit as though I have a hangover. I only feel like this when I'm at home, so am fairly sure it's an allergy to the fungus that is probably floating around. Also, my eyes get itchy and very swollen underneath - bags underneath bags! I wash all my bedding all the time and this keeps the itching down a bit, but if I don't wash it every couple of days the itching gets severe. I am chilly, love hot dry weather, don't like cold and damp, and sometimes (especially before my periods) crave sweets and chocolate, and doughnuts, cakes, etc. I am not overweight, but I am quite flabby around the stomach. I have a history of mild asthma (a tight chest, not much ore) and am prone to thrush. I also get toenail fungus. I am 51 years old. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance!

What is your chief complaint? Allergic reaction - itchiness of legs, swelling under eyes, tight chest. Worse at night and on waking. Tinea versicolor on legs

When did this complaint start? Allergy 7 years ago, tinea 3-4 years ago

What was going on at this time? My daughter developed a fungal skin infection and started behaving very badly.
What is your opinion of the cause of the complaint? Allergy to tinea fungus and I think I now have this fungus on my legs - white raised spots which are a bit itchy. This started about 3 years ago but has become very itchy this summer. This started the same time as my son developed psoriasis and a fungal skin complaint.

List other main complaints after this and give the same information.
Raised white lumps like warts on hands, and two pea-sized brown patches on right arm. Brown discoloration in spots on skin particularly on sides of hands and lower arms. This started about 3-4 years ago, and is sometimes itchy. (The same time as my son developed a fungal skin complaint)

BETTER OR WORSE
(Note 1 :- This section refers to each disease, each sickness and to every symptom. No matter what the trouble may be it is necessary to be refer to this section. Be sure that the aggravation or amelicration you notice is from the course given.)
(Note 2 :- The time of an aggravation or amelioration refers to the year, the month, the week, the day, the night, or the hour.)

No position helps much, but I am better if my head is raised. If I'm coughing, it is worse if I lie down.
(- Is there any position which you may assume that causes a particular trouble or any single symptom to be better or worse? It may be when you first lie down; or after lying down awhile or rising after sitting or on sitting after standing, walking; walking much; walking in the house or in the open air, or in the cold air ; or at night; running, running rapidly or slowly; when stooping over, after
stopping, or on rising from stooping; leaning the head backwards, forwards; to one side or leaning the head on the table or the hand; lying with head high or low; lying in some particular position ; crawling on the hand + knees or some other or many possible positions. )

what gives you that feeling pls let me know

Hi, I took nux vom and calc carb, and have now (day 4) taken mag phos 6x yesterday and today. I haven't noticed a big difference except that I am definitely much more thirsty for water. My eyes are a bit more itchy but not severely itchy. I also felt a bit faint for a few minutes the morning after taking the nux vom (I've felt like this before) but that hasn't reoccurred. I think that my chest is a bit less tight as well, but it fluctuates anyway so it's difficult to say for sure. I have the folliculinum but haven't taken any yet.
Thank you.

roshun last decade
have one dose of folliculinum, dont take any other medicine .

there may be an aggravation and aches,if you are not able to bear it then take nux vom to antidote it.

give a feed back after 2 days.

I have noticed increased itching at night and also during the day over the last two days, and slight backache on the lower right side near the hip (which is something I get from time to time). I felt a bit dazed when I first took the remedy and a bit weepy. I feel better now - more grounded. My eyes watered all day yesterday and feel quite watery today. My right ear (which has been blocked intermittently since this allergy started) feels worse; blocked and aching a bit. I didn't mention to you before that I have sores on both of my inside cheeks - like one thick white line on each side which is sometimes sore and sometimes not. These have become a bit more pronounced although they subsided a bit when I took the nux vom. My saliva felt gritty while I was in bed last night - this again is a frequent symptom.

I feel ok - I haen't had such bad premenstrual syndrome as usual (feeling worried, irritable and tired) and a slightly less craving for sweets and chocolate. I feel calmer and more grounded, and less focussed on other people, but I can still be emotionally 'knocked off my perch' if anyone is difficult or stressed when I'm around. The itching has subsided a bit, although my eyes are more swollen than they have been for a few weeks. The backache has gone. I'm tempted to wait and see - it seems quite subtle but I feel as though something has shifted emotionally, although I don't feel as good as I did when I first took the remedy.

Hi - sorry about the delay, but I was away for a week. I have tried the mag phos and my skin is a bit softer, but otherwise no change.
I feel ok emotionally and am not craving sugar quite as much.

have one dose of folliculinum, dont take any other medicine.

mp to continue as directed.from next day.

nat mur 200,five pills ones in three days from day 4 of taking the first medicine.

feed back after 7 days.

The Mag phos seems to bring the swelling under my eyes down, and I don't feel so groggy in the mornings (I would wake up sometimes feeling as though I had been in a drugged sleep). The itching is still present but not as bad, but I've realised it's worse if I use biological washing powder (which I have never been allergic to in the past). I felt really depressed and nervy one one day - like bad pre-menstrual syndrome - but on the whole have felt ok emotionally. I haven't had such a craving for sweet things. Otherwise, the white and raised lumps and the toenail fungus are pretty much the same. I got some athlete's fot which I haven't had for a while and which seems to have gone away again, and my feet have been a bit smelly (not just since the natrum mur - before that). My eyes have been hurting - as though bruised - which is an old symptom, and seems to happen when I'm short on iron.

I read your case and would like to offer a 2nd opinion as in my view an overall positive change should have come by now, had the remedies given be right.

If you are interested, please reply to the questions below.

To select a homeopathic remedy for any health problem, the patient has to be like an open book. As if talking to oneself and alone. Explain with detail what your problems are.

Example answers are given in front of the questions. Please take guidance from these examples and reply in detail accordingly.

1. What are the symptoms of your health problem (example answer: Constipation, Swollen & painful joints of elbow, knees and wrists…)
2. What makes the problem better or worse (Constipation gets worse when I eat rice, it gets better when I sleep a lot……. the swelling gets less when I sleep or eat meat, it gets more when I walk. The pain gets worse when I massage or apply heat. The pain & swelling gets better when I ….)
3. How do you feel emotionally (I feel sad & depressed, thinking about suicide. Think about all bad things happened in the past. I like to be alone all the time. I hate being with people…..)
4. Describe your personality (I am a headstrong person, very suspicious of others, very strict about discipline…. OR I am a messy person, not interested in cleaning. Don’t bathe for many days…..)
5. What occupies your mind mostly (I do a lot of daydreaming, I think about romantic getaways all the time, I keep making plans for things and never do them ….)
6. How do you respond to consolation (I hate consolation…)
7. Do you fight or flight (I never pick any fights, rather I stay silent and then think over it and get angry…..)
8. What are your fears (I am terrified of spiders, dogs, cats, closed spaces, heights……)
9. Do you normally feel hot or cold (I am usually hot and like winter more. I keep wearing light clothes in winter even……..)
10. What foods you love & hate (I like fried foods and hate slimy foods. I like sweets more than anything else. I hate meat, love chicken. I like to eat chalk….)
11. How is your thirst (I am thirsty all the time and even after drinking ice cold water remain thirsty)
12. Any coating on tongue (some white coating on edges only)
13. Any skin problems (not now but all my life I had eczema on my arms for which I used allopathic creams)
14. Any problems with respiration (nose, chest, throat) ( I snore a lot when sleeping and sleep with open mouth)
15. Any problems with stool/urine (I have severe constipation and the stool is always like balls…)
16. Any sexual problems (I have a strong desire for sex, I have late periods always and are painful, a lot of clotting, with a lot of backache.)
17. Describe your appearance (I am stick thin or I am big for my size and overweight I have not always been like this I grew fat after……)

Thanks

1. What are the symptoms of your health problem (example answer: Constipation, Swollen & painful joints of elbow, knees and wrists…)

I feel unwell and groggy in the mornings, have itchy skin - arms, legs, back, front, neck, particularly at night. Every morning my eyes are badly swollen and this goes down a bit during the day. I also have white patches on my legs (no bigger than a pea) and raised lumps (about 6-8 on both hands and arms - these are sometimes a bit itchy, they are pink/white and I have two brown spots on my right arm which are rough to touch and about the size of a pea. I also have toenail fungus, worse on my right foot, and get athlete's foot and thrush from time to time. I suffer from constipation and difficulty passing stools sometimes (linked to not drinking much water, I think) and have an anal fissure which bleeds. This is always worse before and during and just after my period. I also get swollen ankles which are worse before and during my period and in hot weather. I get palpitations a bit, and I think I am anaemic from time to time - (was diagnosed with slight anaemia in the past) and I take iron supplements after my period, when I do feel quite tired and lethargic. Most of these symptoms have developed in the last 5-6 years, since my daughter developed a fungal skin infection. I also get slight asthma - worse in very dusty houses, and worse before my periods. This causes breathlessness, nothing more. However, when my daughter first got the skin infection I developed a terrible cough - I was coughing all day and night, but it was much worse at night.
2. What makes the problem better or worse (Constipation gets worse when I eat rice, it gets better when I sleep a lot……. the swelling gets less when I sleep or eat meat, it gets more when I walk. The pain gets worse when I massage or apply heat. The pain & swelling gets better when I ….)
Constipation is better if I drink a lot and eat lots of vegetables. It's worse before and during my period, as discussed. My skin never seems to get better, but all the symptoms are better when I'm away from home. Biological washing powder used on my sheets makes it worse. I feel more itchy around daybreak, and my asthma is better (when I have it) if I'm propped up in bed a bit. Warm drinks make me feel better too. Although my skin isn't really any better in the summer, I always feel better in hot dry weather and much worse when it's cold and damp.
3. How do you feel emotionally (I feel sad & depressed, thinking about suicide. Think about all bad things happened in the past. I like to be alone all the time. I hate being with people…..)
since this all started I get down quite often - I never used to get down, although I had post-natal depression when my daughter was born 22 years ago. I feel quite tired and as though I am not really here - as though I have no real centre, and as though there is no weight to what I am saying. When I am well I love socialising and talking to people, and I love to laugh and have fun, but I feel as though I have lost my sense of humour and enjoyment of people. Everything seems a bit meaningless, somehow.
4. Describe your personality (I am a headstrong person, very suspicious of others, very strict about discipline…. OR I am a messy person, not interested in cleaning. Don’t bathe for many days…..)
I am averagely clean and not particularly tidy, but keep things fairly ok. I am not neat at all; it doesn't come naturally to me, but I clean the house once a week, although I might not clean the oven or windows as often as a houseproud person. I shower every day and hate to feel dirty. I tend to get enthusiastic about things, or ideas, and like to make plans and solve problems. I am sociable and really curious about people - I will spend time with people I don't necessarily like that much just because I want to find out what they are like and what they think. I get quite emotional about things, but don't tend to show people when I'm upset (unless I'm really upset and tearful). I probably seema bit detached to people, but people often discuss their problems or tell me about what is happening in their lives. I am fairly determined, and if I decide to do something it usually gets done. Before all this fungal thing started happening I would be described as having a really good sense of humour. However, around the same time as the fungal problem (about a year or two before) I met my current husband, and he has a very depressing effect on me. Even though I feel that I want to be in a marriage with him, I don't really enjoy his company and he never laughs. I think this is making me feel depressed, as much as the fungal problem.I don't know why I want to stay with him, but I hate the idea of leaving. Perhaps fear of being alone? I don't like to be alone much and prefer company. I will talk rubbish rather than sit in silence with people. I need to feel people like me and I hate bad atmospheres (when people have had an argument I can always sense it, or if people are angry or depressed).
5. What occupies your mind mostly (I do a lot of daydreaming, I think about romantic getaways all the time, I keep making plans for things and never do them ….) I think about my children and like to find things out for them (how to solve a maths problem, what food to eat when they have a cold, part-time job opportunities. I like to know what my friends are doing, and my family. I love to read noevels about almost anything. I do daydream. I like to solve problems, play games.
6. How do you respond to consolation (I hate consolation…)I love it but I'm not very good at getting it- because I respond awkwardly to it I don't think I encourage people to be sympathetic. I wish people were more sympathetic.
7. Do you fight or flight (I never pick any fights, rather I stay silent and then think over it and get angry…..) I don't pick fights and I find it difficult when people are aggressive, but when I think something is important I tend not to back down, although I don't ever shout (apart from occasionally at the children, though not for a long time) and I tend to go quiet and feel quite intimidated when people are angry. In my relationship I tend to stick to what I think.
8. What are your fears (I am terrified of spiders, dogs, cats, closed spaces, heights……) I don't like being underground (I tried caving once and hated it), but otherwise I don't mind anything except maybe wasps and mosquitos. I don't mind lifts and small rooms, but I wouldn't like being in a very small space.
9. Do you normally feel hot or cold (I am usually hot and like winter more. I keep wearing light clothes in winter even……..)
I am usually quite cold and I prefer summer; the hotter the better, within reason. I like temps of up to 30 degrees.
10. What foods you love & hate (I like fried foods and hate slimy foods. I like sweets more than anything else. I hate meat, love chicken. I like to eat chalk….)It varies, but I can always eat potato crisps and could eat endless amounts of them if I let myself. I like cheese, chocolate, puddings, chips, steak, and most veg. I don't mind fatty foods either. I don't like raw tomatoes.
11. How is your thirst (I am thirsty all the time and even after drinking ice cold water remain thirsty) I am not thirsty in the winter, and just want warm drinks. In the summer I think I should drink more than I do - I rarely feel like having a really cold drink. I find luke-warm water much more thirst-quenching than ice cold water.
12. Any coating on tongue (some white coating on edges only) White coating all over the tongue, much worse in the morning.
13. Any skin problems (not now but all my life I had eczema on my arms for which I used allopathic creams) I've described skin problems above. Up to 14 years ago I had really bad big spots/boils on my neck and jawline. I had bad acne as a teenager in that area too.
14. Any problems with respiration (nose, chest, throat) ( I snore a lot when sleeping and sleep with open mouth) Since the allergies started I snore (I never did before) and I feel as though my sinuses are always blocked. My throat often feels sore in the morning and sometimes my saliva/mucus feels gritty.
15. Any problems with stool/urine (I have severe constipation and the stool is always like balls…) It huts and stings often when I pass stools, and there is sometimes blood from my anal fissure. Sometimes I have to press down with my hand to pass a stool - it feels as though it is stuck and won't come out.
16. Any sexual problems (I have a strong desire for sex, I have late periods always and are painful, a lot of clotting, with a lot of backache.)
Fairly regular periods, ometimes a bit painful, lots of clotting with brigh red blood, usually on the third day.
17. Describe your appearance (I am stick thin or I am big for my size and overweight I have not always been like this I grew fat after……)
I used to be very thin as a child and young adult (I'm quite tall as well, with long legs) but always had a protruding stomach, grew larger after having children (although not overweight) and then gave up smoking about 9 years ago and put on a lot of weight. I am not very overweight but am flabby round the middle and my arms are a bit flabby too.
My hair has some grey in it now, but was originally medium brown with reddish tones. I have blue eyes and high cheekbones.

Other things - I had frozen shoulder 7 years ago in my left arm badly and then a bit in my right. I found a masseuse who was able to relieve it but my left shoulder is still a bit stiff.
I had my tonsils out when I was 17 because i kept getting severe tonsilities (infected tonsils, pus, etc). I had dark shadows/bags under my eyes as a teenager, and still have bags under my eyes now. I have yellow areas in tehcorner of my eyelid next too my nose - worse on the right eye. I also sometimes get a pea-size lump appearing under my left eye when I screw my eye up and close it - it then slowly goes.
I sometimes get mild pain on my right side - I think this is in my bowel and is related to constipation.

Thank you for your interest.

Best wishes
Rose

You are welcome. A few questions:

How old are you

How & when did your skin problems start

What was happening in your life at that time

Are you on any meds

Have you ever been seen by a doctor, if so, what is his diagnosis for your skin problems

Which taste (sweet, salt etc) do you like or hate

What makes your skin symptoms get better or worse (cold water, hot water...)

How do you sleep normally

How do you feel about hurricanes etc

Any recurring dreams

You are welcome. A few questions:

How old are you
51

How & when did your skin problems start
I had bad acne from the age of about 12/13, which didn't go away until I was about 38. I was diagnosed with anaemia and once I started taking iron supplements my spots went. At the same time I stopped eating chocolate and crisps (which I was eating a lot of). My skin problems developed slowly from when as my daughter developed a fungal skin infection. It was 2 years after my mother died, and life was difficult, mainly because my daughter was behaving very badly - I think she was badly affected by this skin infection. I also developed a terrible cough which was much worse when I was in the house; an allergy I think (the doctor diagnosed severe asthma). I went to the doctor when I first started getting round marks on my legs and he diagnosed warts but said there was nothing that could be done for them. They gave me some toenail paint for the fungus but it didn't work.

Are you on any meds
Just ventolin for asthma which I only use when I'm doing exercise - walking up hills for example

Have you ever been seen by a doctor, if so, what is his diagnosis for your skin problems See above

Which taste (sweet, salt etc) do you like or hate

I like sweet tastes better, but also sometimes crave salty foods

What makes your skin symptoms get better or worse (cold water, hot water...)
Nothing really, although I don't like cold water - I prefer it warm or hot
How do you sleep normally
On my side, usually on my right side. I don't sleep particularly well and tend to wak at least once a night to go to the toilet.
How do you feel about hurricanes etc
I don't like it when it's very windy, it makes me feel a bit ill-at-ease, but otherwise nothing really worries me. I enjoy being by the sea when its windy.
Any recurring dreams
No, none really.

Please take a dose (one pill) of Graphites 200c.

Just one single dose, no more. Stop all other homeopathic remedies.

Report back with any & all changes observed.

For your fissure, unless the persistent mechanical cause of fissure i.e. constipation is not removed, it will not heal. So we have to address your constipation ASAP.

You have two options, either improve your diet for at least a week to ensure that you don't have slightest bit of constipation or take Mik of Magnesia as per directions on the bottle for a week to ensure you have soft stool.

Once that is done, get Calendula ointment and apply it outside and inside the anus after every time you pass stool or urinate. It will heal the fissure.

Start eating yogurt with live cultures e.g. Dannon, at least 5 table spoons everyday. It will work wonders for all of your symptoms.
