Mr. Udaya Kumar

Mr. Udaya Kumar,

My mom has some issues.

Mom (BTW, she lives in Florida for warmt)

Age:  Over 80, all vata dosha; think she has had some grahani issues (might have inherited my issues from her).  Good disposition and always content and not a complainer.  Kind and always helpful or has a kind word for everyone (and not only through my eyes).

Competes for attention with other family members whenever we (her dtrs) visit.  She is beloved by her nieces and nephews (think she is perfect) and she thrives on that adulation.  My sister and I love her but know she is human so we support and love.

BP (can't remember name of meds but can get that, think it is 100 mg and borderline diabetic but controlled with diet. BP is managed with meds, but think she needs nat mur like me.

Seems calms but overall, can't handle a lot of life's stresses (day to day things of bills, etc. because most of her life someone was always doing that for her and she doesn't have the skill-set. My sister and I support her and she gets some help because of her disability with her hands (someone comes in to help with cleaning and cooking).

Talks incessantly and talks over people (because she says she will forget so she just gets it in) not realizing that she is speaking over people.

Fell when she was very young and dislocated her arm.  She lived in a rural area and the "local healer" tried to set it, but it wasn't done correctly so the incorrect setting threw everything out of alignment.  Consequently, she has lived with a dislocated left arm which in time, created problems with her spine and affected the rest of her body.

Main issue:  Severe osteo-arthritis (takes ibruprofen but only uses it when she is lots of pain) in 1 knee and in neck and shoulder.  Has become very debilitating.  Has tried some ayurvedic herbs (Mahanarayan Tailam & Phalatrikadi guggul but she says it doesn't help but I don't know if she was good about using for some time.

Vata makes her jump around and she doesn't have the confidence in her own decisions so she is easily influenced by others.  Doesn't listen to my sister and I as well as she would to others.

Dementia:  can take care of daily care and hygiene (thank God), prays and remembers all of that well, but can't focus and remember routine things (help sees that she eats well and takes all her medicines, helps with bath (because of arm pain now), massage, etc. Short term memory getting worse or she totally forgets that she has asked you to do something.

Doesn't adhere to diet like she should; disciplined and never has eaten beyond 70-75% of stomach's capacity but vata happy foods (too much stale foods either left overs or crackers and dry type food) is what I am referencing.  Routinely fasted 2 days a week or at different times for many years.

Has trouble hearing (has hearing aids, but not sure if she is good about wearing them because she is not always truthful about that).

She elected to grudgingly do knee surgery just before COVID but it has been put on hold.  She doesn't want this surgery but she puts a lot of stock in her allopatic doctor and the pain has become very debilitating so my sister thinks that is the only option.  I agree, but in my heart, don't feel it is right.

I wanted your thoughts if homeopathy might be able to help manage pain and keep her independent a little longer; concerned about ibropfen use and if she might be using any other medicines that she didn't mention that could be harmful to liver. It is hard to manage medicines remotely so if it can be minimal, would be better.

With much appreciation.
