Internal abdominal scar tissue Page 3 of 5

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi,

I'm just joining this forum. I stumbled upon it when researching treatment possibilities for my grandmother. She is in her late 70's and has recently (about 2 years ago) had a colostomy - she now has a bag for life. Although it has been 2 years, she has just recently been experiencing severe pain in her abdomen. I've been reading up on adhesions and scar tissue forming. We finally took her to emerg when she explained the pain as similar to experiencing childbirth. The doctors said her intestines may have been blocked. She had an ultrasound and there was no clots. She experiences the pain frequently, sometimes not as bad, and the only relief seems to come after stool has passed through.

Is there anything that she can do or take to cope with the pain or to improve the adhesions that may have formed around her intestines due to the major abdominal surgery? She is on several medications already (for blood pressure, cholestorol, blood thinners, etc.). Any suggestions would be helpful. I have been reading some of the other posts and I will research some of the natural products suggested.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I too have two lovely girls but due to 2 C-sections the scarring and adhesions the doctors have suggested that i do not try for anymore children. Apparently the first c-section gave me much more scarring and adhesions than is the norm, this was in Aug 06. 2nd child in May 09 took longer due to the scarring and adhesions. I do not have any symptoms to date of this problem but really want to have a son. I am overweight and had gestational diabestes which has become prediabetes. I did not put on any weight during my second pregnancy and will be doing kapalbhati and anulom-villom for the prediabetes. I feel cold more than heat and have a quick and irritable temper. Please please let me know if there is anything i can do for the scarring and adhesions as I would love a son. I am 37 years old. Many thanks in advance.

You can use thiosinaminum 3x,6x and calc. fluor 6x for a couple of weeks for internal scarring and adhesions. Sometimes this may be required for more weeks. But you must stop if you notice any untoward symptom during the protocol.

And for your other issues like overweight, pre-diabetes etc, please fill up a questionnaire available with the forum and post your case afresh.

HI Mona

You can take thrice daily. Yes it will work on older scar tissues. If scar tissues are external one can find with observation, but if they are internal, then ultrasonography may be required.

Hi,

After reading multiple postings in this thread, I am hopeful you can help me!

I am 41 and have had multiple abdominal surgeries; starting at age 28, last at age 38. Most surgeries were in response to endometriosis complications as well as two c-sections.

I was told by my ob-gyn that the partial hysterectomy might solve the problem but that I may have chronic or intermittent pain for my life.

I have pain, sometimes severe, on my lower, left abdomen, almost directly across from my bely button. I have no gallbladder, no left ovary, no uterus, and have had a kidney stone in the past; though this pain is nothing like the kidney stone.

I have had the scar tissue confirmed via testings and procedures by three doctors. I have been told that they can do something if and when the scar tissue cuts off blood to the intestine completely but that may cause more problems. Pain meds and muscle relaxers help somewhat but I dislike taking them unliess the pain is severe and extended.

I am allergic to aspirin, ibuprofin, penicillin, amoxcillin and bactrim.

Is there anything you can recommend to help me?

Praise Jehovah for Ireneco's post. I too have experienced the diarrhea, nausea & horrid abdominal pain & the doctors acted like they had NO IDEA WHY! I also got prescribed some medicine to stop the nausea but I wanted to know what was wrong with me & try to correct it instead of covering up symptoms. Your post gives me some stepping ground to find a natural cure or improvement. I haven't had to deal with it for 7 months but there was a time when it went away for about 2 months & returned. I had 2 C-sections & this only started after my second one, I want to prevent it from happening again because that pain is almost indescribable, I'd rather deal with the after pains of surgery than that!! I dealt with the pain for almost a year (about once or teice a mth) & I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy!

You can take staphysagria 6c twice daily for 4 to 5 days for your pain resulting from surgeries.

25 years ago I had my Gallbladder removed. Then six years later an atopic pregnancy
ruptured and I had emergency surgery which removed a tube and ovary. Three years the other ovary became cystic and my Dr. removed it and my uterus.
However 20 hours after this surgery, he ordered another surgery because I was bleeding
internally. I received 4 units of blood, but my Dr. said he never could find a bleeder, just constant blood seepage from scar tissue, which we think is from the surgeries. I have had digestive problems most of my life, but my colonoscopy was fine. Since 1/2 of my thyroid was also removed 20 years ago, I am almost always cold, especially on my abdomen.
I am concerned the scar tissue internally will continue to grow and cause more problems. My Dr. says I can never have any type of abdominal surgery again.
What would you recommend?

What are your chief concerns?

Have you taken tests that confirmed internal scar tissues?

Do you have post surgery pains?

Have you got any issues post blood transfusion?

Seems like you have done surgeries left, right.

maheeru last decade
My chief concern is the scar tissue that bled so much necessitating a second surgery and multiple units of blood. Is it common for scar tissue to seep blood like this after a surgery? I had no problems after the blood transfusion, except I woke up in IC unit because my lungs were filling up (he probably gave me TOO much blood) with a LARGE tube down my throat for 2 days. But my energy level returned much faster than when I had the emergency atopic surgery, which I did not receive any blood, but my surgeon stated I had bled internally quite a bit.
I do not have any pain, but digestive issues which I am concerned may be provoked by this scar tissue.

The problems all seemed to escalate after the thyroid surgery, which Mayo Clinic said was malignant. However I never pursued any treatment, just thyroid supplemnts (Long story).
Yes, I have had ENOUGH surgeries. I quess after reading some of your suggestions I was thinking maybe something homopathic
would help my internal scars

Please take carbo veg 30c three doses on a single day.

Then a week later start with thiosinaminum 6x thrice daily, continue it for some weeks and then report.

Hello,
I am not sure if this post is still active, but I will give it a try. I have had multiple nose surgeries to correct breathing, and have developed a painful subcutaneous adhesion where the incisionwas made. It frequently throbs, hurts, and is very constricting to facial movements. Is there are remedies that may help this? The last surgery I had was 10 months ago. Thank you very much for any help.

Try taking staphysagria 6c twice daily for 3 or 4 days. This should probably help with the pain. we'll have to see later about the adhesions.

I am looking for advice. I had 2 abdominal surgeries in 2006 and then a C section in March of 2009. Everything was fine until November of 2009 when I landed in the hospital with a bowel obstruction due to abdominal adhesions. I had a 4 hour surgery to remove the adhesions and woke up with a temporary ileostomy which was revered this past February. I am recovering from that surgery but nervous that I will develop more adhesions. I am confused about what I should be taking from a homeopathy perspective. Anything I can do now (8 weeks post op) to prevent more adhesions from forming?

Jill2010 last decade
Hello Jill

Please take calendula 6x thrice daily for 2 weeks. Then leaving a gap of week take calendula 200c only 3 doses 8 hours apart.

On the surgery site, you can apply calendula cream or ointment externally for a couple of weeks.

After this period you can post back your symptom profile so that something can be done to address deficiencies in your system.

THANK YOU THANK YOU. I will start today and get back to you in about a month.

I am a 59 year old female. I had my gallbladder removed about six months ago (no stones, but a thickening of the wall which was causing pain). I also experienced diarrhea immediately following surgery, but Probiotic Align for two weeks completely stopped that. Now I am having the opposite problem - I feel blocked up - not constipated - but as if there is just too much in my small intestine. I tried bile salts which seemed to help some, but they caused burning in my stomach and up into my esophagus at night. I would love to know of a homeopathic remedy that would help with this. One other issue is that quite frequently I get a feeling like my stomach (or abdomen) is 'sucked in' right below my sternum. When that happens it feels like a hard not and it is painful.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

You may take staphysagria 6c twice daily for three days. It'd negate symptoms from surgery. After a couple of weeks please post your problems in detail.

Thank you, Maheeru. I will give it a try and let you know how it goes.

I have read through this whole forum and asked my doc about the remedies. He said I was checked for these and they wouldn't help me out. He's a doctor of osteopathy. I had surgery(over 7 years ago) to remove a large dermoid from left ovary through laparoscopy and had internal bleeding so had to have bikini incision. Since then my bowels have not worked. I'm currently doing enemas. Laxatives only add to the problems and make an enema very difficult(can't get fluid in and then can't get it out). And then I can't even walk, as soon an I put weight on my left leg I get sharp pain in sigmoid colon area. I've tried PT and now the doc is out of ideas other than colonoscopy and exploratory surgery. Any suggestions?

Hi, I am looking for help for my mom. In early 2007 she had surgery to remove a mass that was found in her lower abdomen. It was removed along with her appendix in Feb and was found that she had apendaceal cancer. 6 weeks after the 1st op she had another op where many small tumors and a portion of her small intestines were removed. She also had a 2 hour heated chemo flush of her abdomen. About a year later she had another surgery to remove another mass contected to her rectum and bladder stem and another 2 hour heated chemo flush. Then in June of 09 after continual pain she underwent another surgery in which the DR said that the scar tissue was massive and had her intestines bound tightly causing blockages. A colostomy was done..but the pain is still horrible. the colostomy is not complete as some stool still passes rectally. If the scar tissue was better it might allow her intestines to loosen up. Now, as of about a month ago, she has been diagnosed with a fistula which is allowing stool to come through her vagina. The dr says that the skin is so thin due to the surgery to remove the mass on her rectum that repair may not be an option. However the pain and problems from the scar tissue is one of great concern as nothing else seems to help. Really bad bouts will put her in the bed for days. Any help will be so greatly appreciated.

please take nux vom. 30c one dose daily in the evenings one hour before going to bed for a week.

Report after a week.

Let your mom take staphysagria 30c twice daily for 5 days and report after 10 days.

This may not address the whole issue she is suffering from which appears complicated but would go a long way in negating some side effects from the surgery. After this remedy, you may have to present a lot more details about your mother to give further suggestions.

Sorry it took so long to get back. I tried the nux vom. and the only thing it did was relieve the back pain I have from constipation. When I miss an enema or it's time for me to do one my lower back hurts. This relieved that until I tried a prescription laxative which made my back hurt again. So I took more nux vom. and during the time I was taking it my back stopped hurting. But as soon as I stopped the pain returned. I have not been very well at all. I've had migraines with puking and have been extremely weak. I just had a colonoscopy done on Mon and it was normal. But now my sigmoid colon really hurts and it feels like it did after the surgery(cramps). It felt this way after I had injections in the scar tissue too. So maybe the adhesions were stretched? Is there anything else I can try?

How would you assess nux. 30's action ? was there any benefit on emotional/mental plane? Has it caused any aggravation?

Migraines and other symptoms you talk about---are they older issues or have cropped up now?
