Hering's law is really not a law, comparable to 'similia similibus curanter', but is a definite guide in chronic cases.

As you say all cured cases may not follow that route, but most of them will.

Yes, in acute problems ,one should be able to prescribe quickly, if he has good knowledge of materia medica.

But, even those quick prescribers assess the case in their mind, and if you analyse their prescriptions afterwards ,you will be amazed how they fit most of the patient's symptoms.

That comes by dedicated reading of materia medica and its day to day application on hundreds of patients.As you say they don't need any Radar/repertory.They may refer to the repertory only occassionally.

But, do you think the information given by the patients here allows such well considered judgement, without further questioning?

In one of the threads a patient is complaining of burnig pain, after 2 to 3 hours of eating, amel by eating a biscuit.

With this information we can take a chance with Nux.Vomica/Anacardium, but one of the reputed prescribers here insists that Nat.Phos will help this case too, despite the fact the patient complained of a relapse, even after taking Nat.Phos for a few months.

It is this sort of rigidity in prescribing I am opposed to.

I will be happy to see the prescribers telling all of us why they selected a particular remedy.

That will be helpful to everybody.

The problem here is some people will consider asking the reason of choice nosy. Just put yourself in shoes of a proper prescriber and if someone argues with you and demands justification for your choice though you have well selected the remedy you'll be irritated.

Oh. Yeah there's a problem where you referred a case suitable for nux prescribed nat. phos. That's another matter altogether.

To start with I will qestion any prescription which I feel is not justified in my view.

I may mark one or two prescribers to start with,as time available is limited,and there are almost 50 posts a day. I may not be able to monitor all the posts.

You have already written elsewhere that you and jacob differ in your view point because he is accustomed to treating chronic and you acute.

So if you are going to police prescriptions, you may even have to lock horns with those who very much think in 'classical' tones as you do.

You may even come to clash with qualified professionals(who may loathe people without qualification questioning them).

And another thing is I hope you have read renowned T.S Iyer which was a prescribed text years ago. He somewhere suggests that for colds he gives Nux and bryonia alternately and for resolution sulphur or pulsatilla. Also he somewhere makes a point there for chronic diseases one lay prescriber can safely administer Lycopodium, Calc, Sulph,Carbo veg(I can't get to other 2 remedies) with interval of 2 weeks. Some people would be following such school of thought, where more than rubrics, number of symptoms conditions will matter. Also you may find yourself in conflict of those people.

I may be wrong with some of my assumptions, and am ever ready to correct myself,if I am convinced.

A debate on remedy choices is more illuminating as it will help all budding homeopaths immensely.
