The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Mother (66yo) suffers from painful cramps, stretched-painful nerve and osteo-arthritis

Hi,

Wondering if homeopathy might hold some relief for my mother. She has been under great distress in form of pain and discomfort due to:
- Osteoarthritis of knees (well established through X-ray, MRI)
- Sciatica or similar pain that runs down entire stretch of leg from him to toe, with itching, periodic numbness, feeling of nerves being stretched, or nerves feeling contracted lengthwise (was established to be linked to pinched nerve due to lower 2-3 spinal discs)
- Very frequent cramps in lower limbs. Mostly happens in evening and through the night, but on some bad days, happens even during daytime, that too on both legs together, to the point that she freezes up crying, trying to hold on to the wall.

She is on hypertension medication, high urea medication, heart palpitation medication, apart from periodic set of pain-killers she tries to avoid but often becomes unavoidable due to intense pain. Those are allopathic medicines.

Due to painkillers, her stomach is often upset. She is overweight, but due to her knee issues, her mobility is limited for the last several years.

thanks,

Sir,

Thank you for your response. One thing I forgot to mention was that most of her issues with nerves, itching, numbness are more on "right" side of her body -- less on "left" side.

Now to answer your specific questions:

- Few days back she was having oedema of her right foot below knee, including ankle and up to the toe. Knee itself, she says she is unsure if there is continuous oedema. Allopathic medication seems to have reduced this oedema.

- Motion aggravates things, both from the bad knee and the stretchy/tight nerves. State of rest is better, but she gets the itching and periodic numbness sensation while lying down too.

- Heat does help sooth her a bit. Earlier she used to say that pain reduced, but she feels that it no longer reduces but she does feel little comfortable with heat. Cold does seem to aggravate pains.

- Open air or otherwise -- mother couldn't really answer it well. Mentally/psychologically open-air/outdoors takes her mind off the pain/discomfort for sometime. That's all.

- Aggravates on touching and applying pressure.

thanks,

Thank you sir. I have NUX VOM 200, but will need to procure kali Lod 30 and KALI MUR 6X. Given the Covid-19 lockdown, might need a few days to procure, and will start course on procuring all medicines to report back.

However sir, could you please confirm my understanding about daily dosages to be as follows:

Day#1:
NUX VOM 200 - as advised (not repeated on Day 2,3,4)
KALI LOD 30 - as advised thrice daily
KALI MUR 6X - as advised thrice daily

Day#2,3,4:
KALI LOD 30 - as advised thrice daily
KALI MUR 6X - as advised thrice daily

Sir, also I noticed that KALI MUR 6X is not available currently. Would double dose of KALI MUR 3X work ?

falcon74 6 months ago

Anuj sir, today I have received all medicines. However KALI MUR 3X, I got only dilution and not tablets. Could you tell me the equivalent dosage in number of drops in water ?

falcon74 6 months ago
Start with Nux as advised.

Give 2 drops KI three times in an ounce of water.

I suggested KM CELL SALT.Do not give KM as of now.

Anuj sir, my mother has completed the course as follows:

Day-1:
Nux Vomica 200 - 15 drops in 1oz water, taken in sips, 1/3rd portion in 15min gaps thrice before dinner
Kali Iod 30 - 2 drops 1oz water, thrice daily

Day-2,3,4:
Kali Iod 30 - 2 drops 1oz water, thrice daily

She hasn't taken Kali Mur 3X at all - due to need to change it to tablet form.

After 2nd day she observed mild relief, but from yesterday (i.e. 5th day) she is under extreme pain now and barely able to lie down to sleep. She needs to keep one foot hanging over the bed touching ground. She feels that all her veins/nerves seem to be tearing apart and had great difficulty with mobility. Note that, she also has significant orthoarthritis of her knees.

We still do have Kali Mur 3x (tablets now). What should be our next step?

Anuj sir,

Mother completed the 2 days course of Kali Mur 3X and Mag Phos 6x, 5-tab each thrice daily. However she didn't find any relief other than no new cramps.

Other issues s.a. extreme itching (as if emanating from veins), sensation of veins and nerves being stretched/pulled (and thus great pain all the time), lot of effort in getting up from sitting or sleeping position continue. Of course, her osteoarthritis knee pain is also fully there.

Is there any other recourse ?

regards.

Continue cell salts,in addition Merc Sol 30 five pellets ones a day.

Feedback after 2 days.

anuj srivastava 5 months ago
Okay Anuj sir. I am able to find only Merc Sol 30, will that be okay ? Can the dilution be consumed mixed with water ?

falcon74 5 months ago
Give three drops in an ounce of water ones only and give a feedback the next day.

anuj srivastava 5 months ago
Okay sir. Thank you for taking time to answer.

One small question - the medicine will reach me by Monday or Tuesday next week. Until then should mother continue on cell salts ?

falcon74 5 months ago
YES CONTINUE THE SALTS.

anuj srivastava 5 months ago
Sir, the medicines took very very long time to arrive this time. They arrived last evening. My mother continues to be in agony due to both osteoarthritis caused pain (I suppose -- since X-rays did reveal significant osteoarthrities of both knees), and also the nerve issues.

Also, looks like Mother has not been taking the cell-salts due to some miscommunication on my part (I infact, forgot to remind her to continue those).

Will give her Merc Sol 30, once as advised.

Should she restart the cell-salts: Kali Mur 3x and Mag Phos 6x (5-tabs thirce daily) ? If so, how many days ?

When should we report back ?

Thanks again.

falcon74 4 months ago
She should continue protocol for 7 days for a feedback on day 8.
