Mono with swollen tonsil

My son was diagnosed with active mononucleosis about a month ago. He went through a secondary infection (we assume) with peritonsil abscess which took two antibiotics to clear up. What remains now is a very swollen left tonsil, of which he just had a bacterial throat culture by an ENT which came back negative. At the time of ENT visit there was only some blood on the tonsil.. Before this he had chronic throat issues for yrs which consisted of extreme mucus in his throat that wakes him up and keeps him up at night that also interferes with breathing, and occasional bouts with strep.

I am thinking lachesis? It went right to left, and his symptoms are often worse during sleep.
I had given him calc carb in the middle of his bout with mono, before it was diagnosed,, for sleep problems (not being able to sleep for extended time). I always thought it was his constitution (overweight, hypothyroid). It may have been a little too high a potency for him and caused an aggrav (around 50c). I had thought of giving Bell, but its not in the super acute stage any longer, and not sure if bell is right to left (he had symptoms more on the right side for a long time before it switched). It was throbbing at times, but not any longer.

Unfortunately he’s sensitive to remedies like me from just one dose, so I want to get it right when Im giving a deep acting remedy.

Ideas?? Thanks!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Lachesis might be a good remedy if he can't swallow solids but can swallow liquids.
Other possible remedies are; Mercurius iodatus flavum. The remedy strongly affects Glands, of the throat, etc and It goes from right to left...
And Baptisia if painless.
There are other remedies but just read your materia medica and see any of them fit or close enough to your son's condition.

If it is recurrent, try Phytolacca 30

Thanks all...I will look into this. Still at a wait and see situation and trying to get any symptoms that indicate the right remedy. Its not causing any pain or major problems at this point.

I’m curious about phyto - is that a deep or short acting remedy? I see I have it listed on a writeup for drainage remedies (in this case lymph). I have it in 12c and wonder if that would do. If its short acting, I may give one dose to him. He had often had pain in the spleen area long prior to this bout with mono.
