Left knee meniscus injury after accident with bicycle.

Dear Sir/Madam,

After a long absence from this forum (6 years), I've returned to seek kind advice from homeopath. My name is Arif Munaf and I am 30 years old.
I live in The Netherlands.

Exactly four weeks ago I had an accident with my bicycle while descending from a slope (bicycle bridge). It had rained that day in the morning, so it was wetty. During my descent I apparently lost control of my bicycle due to slippery. I don't remember fully how my bicycle slipped. But I fell hard on my left side on the ground.

I didn't lose consciousness after falling and immediately screamed for help. Bystanders helped me and gave me support in the back to sit. Subsequently they helped me stand up and to stand at the side of the bicycle path. They called the emergency 112 for Ambulance.

I was taken to the hospital and X-ray and CT-scan were done. I was given a full knee splint extension and crutches. The trauma doctors advised for a MRI scan.

My left knee was quite swollen and I couldn't bend anymore than between 30-40 degrees. Straightening the knee wasn't a difficulty. In short. my knee is totally locked and bending is impossible.

The MRI scan happened in the first week of November. And the short summary conclusion is as follows:

*Flipped lateral meniscus
*A tear in the posterior horn medial meniscus
*Spread bone marrow edema with impression fracture lateral femurcondyl
*Avulsion fracture PCL (posterior cruciate ligament)
*Partial ACL rupture (anterior cruciate ligament)
*Partial MCL injury (medial cruciate ligament)

Just a week ago my full knee extension splint was replaced with a smaller knee brace for the comfortability.
The orthopedist referred me to another hospital due to the availability of treatments. He hinted on a possible arthroscopy.

Last Monday I went to the other hospital and I had a intake appointment. They advised me to wait another two weeks to let the MCL heal and decreasing of the swelling.

I have an appointment with the orthopedist surgeon on 5 December to discuss what kind of surgery will take place.

But I would like to describe my feelings and my initiatives I have taken so far.

In four weeks time the swelling has decreased, but around the outer right side of the left knee is still swollen. As mentioned before I still can't bend my knee. It is fully locked and that is my greatest concern.

I can now stand on my feet and can take small steps with the help of crutches.

Till now I have used the following homeopathic remedies:

*Arnica D6 tablets (2 tablets 3 times a day)
*Calcarea Phosphorica D6 tablets (2 tablets 3 times a day)
*Ruta 30 drops (10 drops 3 times a day)
A remedy which I have been using since long for my eye disease Retinitis Pigmentosa

Furthermore I am using Vitamin C supplement (1500 mg one time a day during mealtime).

Actually I want to avoid a major surgery. I don't know for some reason I have confidence in my body's own healing capacity.

Therefore I kindly request your advice. Are my initiatives good? Or should I take other homeopathy medicines? Should I also take other supplements for the healing process?

If you have any other questions, kindly let me know.

Kind regards,
Arif Munaf

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Continue with Arnica, use 30c twice daily until swellings are gone.

And use Ruta 30c if the pain is better by gentle motion.

use Rhus tox 30c if the pain is worse on the first movement but relieved by continued movement.

Use Bryonia if you can't move or even the idea of moving is painful.

Use Guaiacum 30c if the knee remains flexed and there is tearing pain when attempting extension. And the least movement of the leg will be very painful and you are reluctant to move...

Also, you will need to take Calc-f 6x tree times a day up to a month to promote the recovery of damaged fibrous tissue.

And Symphytum 30c 3 - 4 times weekly to help the tendons, ligaments to repair.

Thank you for your kind and detailed advice.

It might be that the mentioned medicines are not available in liquid dilutions here in The Netherlands. Would the globules or tablets suffice?

Secondly, what potency of Bryonia should be taken?

Furthermore, should I take other supplements with meal besides Vitamin C? Or is that sufficient?

Thanks.

Yes you can take 2 globules or tablets as 1 dose.

Bryonia 30c, take 3 times a day for 3 days and see if it helps.

I don't usually suggest any kind of supplements as they are hard on your liver and kidneys but if you believe in supplements, you may continue taking them. I much prefer you eat vitamin C rich food, such as leafy greens, and some fruits like kiwis and oranges.

Thanks for the advice

I have ordered the medicines.

One another general question:

There are two names I found for Calc-f
One is Calcarea Fluorica and the other is Calcium Fluoratum

I was wondering are these names the same one medicine or are these different medicines?

They are the same remedy.
