Please Help - persisting Sinus and throat pain
Dear DoctorsCan you please help me.
I am 41yrs old male . I have been having bouts of sinus pains for the last 20 years or so.
It started in 2001 and since then once or twice a year I have a 3-4 days of headache blocked nose , body ache etc. especially during the wet season.
In these years there were 2 times when I had prolonged 10-15 days of sinus problems combined with severe cold and congestion.
The treatment I follow is - taking steam vapors and pulsatila 30
Pulsatila 30 sometimes works for me when it is not very severe.
Most of the time if I take sufficient rest then it goes after a while. However I continue to have a feeling of a slight nasal congestion and heaviness above my eyes even when I am not having a bout of sinus pains. It is like a background feeling that I have got accustomed to and I am fine as long as it is within tolerable limits.
However this past month I am having a particularly prolonged and painful stretch of problems. Following are the details:
- 15 Oct - got caught in the rain and had a slight fever and cold
- Next couple of weeks there was a bit of sinus problems which I addressed with Pulsatila 30 and steam inhalation. While I did get better but the pain did not go off completely
- The following week of 5th Nov was the festival Diwali in India and the air was full of smoke since a lot fire crackers are burst as part of the celebrations.
- By the end of that week it became very severe and I had visible swelling in my face , cheeks, throat back of the neck and tonsils area and a lot of throat pain
- The phlegm coming out was greenish yellow indicating infection. I took some Ayurveda remedies and today the infection seems to have receded and also the swellings have come down.
However I continue to have headaches and pain in the area below my ears ( although again it is not as severe as it was a week back ).
I think the current infection and pain will subside in a week or so but I am really looking for a remedy for recurring chronic sinus problem.
Can you please help if you know of any medicine that I can take to address the problem.

Thanks for responding.
No it is not particularly at midnight. I go to bed around 10:30 and I do have a bout of cough when I try to lie down but once I sleep I dont have any discomfort till i wake up in the morning.
Another thing I noticed is that while I dont have any problem in having general conversations whenever I try to do some analysis or explain or convince someone where there is mental effort I find I get a headache and pain under my ears starting. If I persist in doing that ( say during meetings ) it becomes really painful after an hour or so and then it takes a while for the pain to subside.
My family relationships are quite happy - no particular tension or quarrel.
I just tried pressing the roof of my nose and it did seem to feel better. Right at this time I dont have a lot of pain anyway but it seemed to ease up the muscles when i pressed. I will try it again when I have a more severe pain and let you know.

Just wanted to update you that I am much better now.
The sinus problems started to reduce from the 3rd day and was mostly over by the 7th day.
However, there are a few additional updates:
On last Saturday I went into a book shop and was browsing through the shelves. After about 5 mins I had a terrible bout of cough and within few mins my nose started to choke and I started feeling the start of pain in my cheeks and throat. I also started coughing continuously. I immediately left the shop and returned home and I was back to normal in about an hour.
I go to an office which has AC and time to time I do see that my nose is feeling blocked. When I return home on some of the days the head feels heavy but if I wrap a scarf around it gets better in about half an hour.
These are definitely manageable at this moment but I am wondering if the problem is completely cured or not.
Can you please advise.

I could not take Kali Bich 30 for a few days in between. Started taking it again from yesterday night and today morning - 2 doses.
Since morning again the sinus seems clogged up and i have headache, cheeks are swelling slightly and are painful, the area below my ears has swollen slightly and cough has started as well.
Is this expected?
As compared to what it was couple of weeks back the intensity is lesser and I dont have any feverishness or green-yellow sputum. But the symptoms seem to be recurring and I wanted to check.

Continuing to take Kali Bich
Symptoms getting aggravated from time to time but seems to recover in few hours.
Right tonsil has swollen up since morning but no pain and little cough.Cheeks slightly painful.
This is the 3rd day after I restarted kali bich will continue for 2 more days till Fri and update.
