Pre-Op Prep
Any advice on what I can take a few days prior to an operation for wrist fusion operation to reduce pain/healing/inflammation.I'm sure I read somewhere that there certain remedies that can help you recover from the whole process and speed up recovery but you start taking it a few days prior to admission.
Anyone have any help they can give. Want to reduce healing time and also not to have to take the awful strong pain meds.
Also what can I take for pain relief after the op - I am having wrist stiffened and metal plate inserted and will be stitched and in plaster

Arnica 30
is the first remedy to consider in any type of trauma or shock. Since surgery represents a huge shock and trauma to the body, arnica is a must when undergoing any type of surgery. Arnica can help reduce soreness, tissue damage and bruising.
Aconitum Napellus (aconite)30
is the first remedy for sudden and violent onset of shock or trauma accompanied with fear and anxiety, which are common emotions experienced before surgery. This remedy is most effective when the patient fears dying from the surgery.
AFTER SURGERY
Nux vomica 30
is good for violent retching, which does not lead to vomiting.
• Phosphorus 30
helps to prevent or treat nausea after surgery; especially when the patient has a strong thirst for ice drinks and may also have a concurrent headache.
• Ipecacuanha 30 is effective for persistent nausea with vomiting, when vomiting does not provide relief.
• Arsenicum 30
treats violent and incessant vomiting, which is made worse by eating or drinking cold water. There may also be burning pain in the stomach.
• Arnica 30
helps with constipation due to experiencing shock, characterized by a pale skin tone.
• China 30
is useful for large accumulation of fecal matter that is difficult to expel, and especially if the patient is experiencing small amounts of diarrhea instead.
• Raphanus 30
is indicated when there is constipation with no urgings for a stool and/or when there is painful gas in the upper left part of the abdomen.

This remedy is needed for any bruised, sore sensations and helps to hasten the recovery of the soft tissues that have been damaged.
2. Hypericum 200–

Ruta graveolens 30–
Is of great help in bone and periosteal pain in and after surgery (including dental surgery) or when there is deep stiffness felt in the joints and muscles after surgery.
Staphysagria 30–
Useful in clean cuts from surgical incisions or mechanical injuries from sharp cutting instruments, particularly when followed by colic and pain. It is usually indicated when neuralgic pain persists in the area of surgical incision, especially if the operation concerns the abdominal area. It is a good remedy given to prevent peritonitis following abdominal surgery.
