Clinical study of Homeopathic remedy Arsenic Album 200C in reducing side effects caused during Chemotherapy regimens.
Background:
Chemotherapy is a systemic treatment using chemicals to destroy proliferating cells. In its advantages and disadvantages, it not only kills rapidly dividing abnormal cells but also kills normal cells of the bone marrow, digestive tract, skin & mucous membrane. Thereby causing disturbance in Gastrointestinal, Neuropathic, Dermatological and Psychological functions affecting quality of life of the patient.
Homoeopathy is one of the pathies used to reduce side effects of Radiotherapy/ Chemotherapy & during palliative stage of the disease
Following ethical principles of clinical research in Homoeopathy the authors conducted an observational study using Arsenic Album 200C for reduction of side effects caused during chemotherapy regimens.
Objective:
Clinical observational study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and effectiveness of Arsenic Album 200C in reducing side effects caused due to chemotherapeutic drugs and improving quality of life in these patients.
Method / Description
Patient selection/protocol at Saifee Hospital (Mumbai):
No of patients: 20
Stage: III, IV during: Chemotherapy (6)cycle intervals.
Performance score: WHO Score
Cases:
Breast Ductal ca grade III, Adeno Ca Pancreas stage III, Colon IV, Oesophagus III, CaLung III & IV Sqamous cell Ca Tongue grade III, Liposarcoma III
Clinical features considered:
Gastro Intestinal: Changes in appetite, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting.
Peripheral Neuropathy: Burning (hot flushes), numbness.
Skin/Hair Alopecia,
Neuro psychological: Anxiety & restlessness.
Dosage / Repetition / Followup
Arsenic Album 200C was administered in divided dose pattern 2/3 a day for 3 to 4
days.
Findings were noted down on weekly followup of the patients.
Result / Conclusion / Discussion
Results of Post Arsenic Alb 200C during chemotherapy protocols:
Gastro Intestinal: Reduction of hyper emesis & diarrhea, normalizing of gastrointestinal functions in 2 days post chemotherapy (WHO 0) 17/20 patients (85%), (WHO 2) 3/20 patients (15%)
Peripheral Neuropathy: Marked reduction of burning/numbness, hot flushes in ext (WHO 0) 15/20 patients (75%)
Skin / Hair: Poor response in controlling Alopecia during chemo cycles 18/20 patients (90%)
Neuro Psychiatry:
Marked reduction of stress levels of patients. Criteria's like anxiety, nervousness, restlessness were better in patients treated with Arsenic Album 200C (WHO 0) 17/20(85%)
Note : Apart from Homeopathy No allopathic/ayurvedic intervention was included to reduce side-effects post chemotherapy.
Conclusion
Arsenic Album 200C given as an adjuvant during Chemotherapy cycles helps minimize Gastrointestinal & Neuropathic side effects.
It also helps patients cope psychologically & enables patients to complete all prescribed cycles of chemotherapy with minimal side effects thereby improving quality of life in patients.

Very nice clinical application of a homeopathic remedy along side the modern treatment!! Homeopathic remedies can work well in many such cases if patients can understand well the limitations of 5 star modern hospitals.

Homoeopathy also has more than just one remedy for treating a particular problem. For example, the nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy can be helped by remedies such as Arsenic album, Ipecacuanha, Nux vomica, Phosphorus, Tabacum, and many other others depending on whether or not the patient’s nausea is with or without thirst, accompanies a clean or dirty tongue, is worsened by warmth or cold, or is with emotions of irritability, cheerfulness, or quietness, and so on. The remedy that best matches the individualising symptoms of that person’s nausea is the one that will be the most helpful.

I totally agree with you gavinmurthy, this was a clinical observational study and surprisingly major patients reporting symptoms with complaints post chemotherapy when repertorised comes to remedy Arsenic Album.To share the thought of Arsenic to be used post chemotherapy came across to us when we learnt about the therapeutic efficacy of the drug Arsenic trioxide in ca a drug approved by the FDA.We hope to have such protocol medicines used to reduce atlest side-effcts of major of the patients having this disease.

My father has adenocar cinoma of colon with pulmonary metastatis
Undergone 10 cycles of chemotherapy Folfox 4 along with vectibix
He has extreme mouth sores and nausea
No appetite and feeling of vomiting all the time
Please advise how to reduce the side effects

If Ipecac failed, try Cadmium sulphuratum 30c up to 3 times a day. It is a great remedy for nausea and vomiting during and after gone to the chemotherapy. Also, take Flouricum acid 30c if he is losing weight and hair.
And Alfalfa Q, 10 drops 3 times daily for weakness and emaciation. All the best.

I am using arsenic album 30 for naisea and mouth sore.
SGOT level is 42, GGTP 44, total protein 4.5, albumin 2.36.
Please advise a medicine

You already have two advices. One would have expected you to follow one. But you have gone with the original advice given long back--- Ars alb advice. Then you can continue it. If need be follow it with Mercurius 30 if mouth sores do not respond to ars alb adequately.
