Chronic case not getting resolved Page 2 of 3

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Keeping his symptoms in mind, using elimination repertorization, I think the following remedies are partial match:

Arg-N, Phos, Lach, Sulf, Sep, Cal-C, Thuj

Applicable remedies are:
Staph, Nux-V, Nit-Ac, Lyc, Sil, Nat-M, Merc-S, Aur

Out of these, in my view Staph, Nux & Aur are closest matches.

Will appreciate critical inputs.

R.P which MM are you referring to for Carc.

How come?

On what I posted, No all his health problems won't be
solved by fixing sex addiction. But he would certainly
then have some 'space' to discover what else his mind
has to offer him, after years of being in this semi prison.

He really needs some counseling, homeopathy cannot
always do everything that is needed. Good luck on this.

I'd agree. In one of my other posts I had written about integrative medicine, this is exactly that.

I feel you guys are complicating matters. He wants to get rid of boils on his face and pustules on his nose.

Acid phos covers many of his physical symptoms including boils on his face and nose with the modality 'worse with loss of vital fluids'.

If you see MM of Acid Phos, the etiology and essence of the remedy matches the history of the patient.

Infact, if I were looking at his case, Acid Phos would have been the first prescription.

rishimba, you are right about the reason of this case.

Which MM are you referring to.

This case is taking a lot of my time and I am still not close to a good remedy.

Acid Phos is a good partial match, but not as good as Staph. Its a text book Staph case but has not cured with that!

I am using William Boericke when I am online. In this case, there is loss of vital fluids and sexual excesses but I don't see anger, indignation, grief, insults and nervous affections.

Infact all throughout before the disease set-in, during his pre-teenage years, he never had any feelings of guilt. When his teacher used to molest him at 13, he never felt traumatic or bad.

Its only at 15 he feared someone would molest him. But that time the disease had already set-in.

Blood boils on skin is a strong symptom of acid phos. You can try it. I don't see any reason why this was not tried by homeopaths earier.

What makes me sway to Staph is sexual excess, sensitive to what other think about him, dwells on sex all the time, prefers solitude, gums bleed, constipation, masturbation. Staph doesn't talk about guilt.

Acid Phos has diarrhea patient has constipation. Also he is not 'listless' rather he is opposite. He is empathetic & compassionate whereas this remedy is indifferent. Where do you think the mentals of this remedy match up with the patient.

Thanks for your time.

The disease showed up at 15 lining up squarely with puberty and ailments due to fear, a strong symptom.

Maybe you have to look at the boils as an acute- and then
see what shows up.

This is from Dr. LucWhat kind of diseases can you use this method on? Some people think Boenninghausen's method is only good for acute diseases. When should you use an acute intercurrent remedy? Many homeopaths don't believe in them, they think they will disrupt a chronic case. Other homeopaths think a single remedy should work for both chronic and acute cases. That makes no sense. According to the Organon, the stronger disease suspends the older one (aphorism 38). When the acute is gone, the chronic condition comes back. Emotional problems can also suspend chronic diseases. If you apply the chronic remedy to the acute disease, it will be dissimilar to it. You will add symptoms of the chronic remedy and create a complex disease. You will add accessory symptoms. It's important to recognize complex diseases when treating patients. Kent said in Lecture 26 that it's important to distinguish between chronic and acute symptoms. 'These two things must be separated.' You'd be surprised how difficult it is to find acute remedies. Coughs are hard to treat. When there is a change in symptoms of the patient, you treat. Some homeopaths say they never treat acutes. I hope they come down with diarrhea when they are in India and then see what they do. But that doesn't mean you treat every little thing. If an acute is not treated properly there is the possibility of it creating a complex disease. Each can effect a different organ symptom. Complex diseases are often created by allopathic treatment. If you are lucky the acute will subside with no further problems even if it is not treated. This happens quite often.

I have done that too, Bell comes up if I filter out the chronics.

Boenn method is also very successful and takes some getting used to, I rely on Kent and have found it to work reliably.

Imo, since the pustules/boils have not relented since puberty, its chronic.

I am getting in touch with his previous homeopaths to see what happened there.

Since he thinks of having sex most of his times, it is understood that he must be having lascivious dreams. Dreams are a great reflection of sub-conscious mind.

Look up acid phos dreams and you will be able to corelate this.

Staf doesn't cover this skin symptom so strongly and I guess that's the reason its not working.

He doesn't have any dreams (or doesn't remember).

Staph has skin problems, though not boils.

If Staph doesn't cover blood boils or pustules, how do you think it will cure it?

To create a long term or curative response either the remedy has to be his constitutional one or a simillimum that matches the overall picture of the disease including the physical symptoms in question.

I quote..' A congenial soil for the action of Phos acid is found in young people who grow rapidly, and who are overtaxed, mentally or physically. Whenever the system has been exposed to the ravages of acute disease, excesses, grief, loss of vital fluids, we obtain conditions calling for it.'

Here you find excesses and loss of vital fluids.

Also, the modalities are right and none of the modalities is opposite to the individual's symptoms.

Since it's a skin symptom, it is certainly a manifestation of something else. If you treat it based on symptoms, there's a possibility that the underlying cause will surface.

I agree that Acid-P is a partial match. Please let me know which mentals of Acid-P match up with the patient's.

For a curative remedy, any sort of skin affections is usually enough if all others symptoms are fitting.

Also, for a curative remedy, no symptom should go against the remedy picture, in Acid-P stool is opposite.

If I recap this case, here it is. Please correct where you think is wrong:

Patient wants treatment for pustules & boils.
The causative factor is fear/ insult/anger at the time of puberty.
His life revolves around sex.
He is chilly and better with warmth.
Due to the ailments he feels sad, depressed, no interest in life.
He is thin, stoop shoulders, tallish.
Constipated, hearing problem, lipids problem etc.

What remedy picture emerges.

fitness last decade
Why don't you ask this person again about stool-
ask if it ever was loose etc in teen years with boils bc
maybe this all matched at a previous time.

simone717 last decade
I quote '..The only thing which stops me is that excessive sex causes boils on my face.'

I can't say if the causative factors were insult or anger. Yes, he was scared of being molested at 15 but that time he had a burst of acne which is a normal phenomenon during this time. The fact that these acne didn't get relieved by themselves unlike in other boys can be attributed only to excess masturbation and addiction to porn.

Where did you find that the causative factors were fear, insult and anger at the time of puberty?

The mentals at that time have not been discussed in the case.

He became a porn addict and this continued 'excess' and loss of vital fluid is taken taken as the prime cause of his boils.

Also, due to the ailment he is sad, depressed and has no interest in life. This is not very far from the essence of acid phos.

rishimba last decade
Good argument.

The mentals at that time were fear/anger etc., combine that with excessive sex and you get the acne outburst.

Although fear etc were eliminated from the scene, sex continued.

Only Staph has both insult & sex in its picture.

I await the feedback from his previous homeopaths and will update.

I have reviewed a few MM of Acid-P.

3rd grade confirmed symptoms of Acid-P that fit the case are:

Loss of vital fluids
Disposition to masturbation
Ailments from fright
Plaque on teeth
Boils

Although diarrhea is still a contradictory symptom and its a much less fit than Staph, I am willing to give it a try.

Will update the patient and if he agrees, ask him to take the dose.

Also, we have in common

-premature graying of hair at 18

- bleeding gums

-weak erections at 40

-hearing difficult at young age.

Good luck.

Very interesting discussion on this one.
One thing I wanted to say here, is that I don't believe the issue about acute symptoms is relevant to this case. None of the symptoms he describes appear to be an acute state from what I can see, but part of a chronic state. There would be no need to separate them out of the case and treat them separately.

All the advice that Kent gives, and the Dr Du Schepper reiterates, is ONLY relevant when an True Acute state has taken the place of the Chronic one. This advice does not apply when it is a Flare up of the Chronic state, which can mimic an acute.

True Acutes are caused by an interaction between external morbific influences and the internal vital force. True Acutes are self-limiting, and do not depend on the internal miasm for their pace, form or progress. It is very important to make sure you are not mixing these symptoms up with the chronic ones.

Flare ups of the Chronic state are caused entirely by the internal disturbance in the vital force, as an interaction with the internal miasm. It is equally as important not to confuse these with true acute symptoms, as this can lead to suppression (worst case) and disappointment for the patient (best case).

Hahnemann is very clear about how to treat such cases - you must look at all the flare ups as parts of a larger totality, and he says that you will not cure such a case by treating them separately. How you choose to address the miasm may of course vary from practitioner to practitioner, since we all have different approaches. But the goal would be to look at the overlying pattern and attempt to address that.

I had suggested some Bach flower remedies. Nobody had a thought on that
I also suggested Carcinocinum-1m (for extreme mania and fobia cases). that also no body has looked into.
