4.5 Year Old Boy stutters

My sweet little boy has been stuttering for many months now and I just learned that homeopathy might be able to help. It just started out of no where, no big traumas or events, though I do feel that my own tendency to be distracted when listening to him, to be overly busy, and to be a rapid speaker myself has probably contributed a lot--he seems worried that he has to speak quickly, and his mouth won't work as fast as his brain. Seems nervous and exciteable. Luckily isn't noticeably upset by his stutter yet because we've all made sure not to take notice of it or put pressure on it. It started with his repeated vowel sounds---ca--aa---aaa--aaT, but now he repeats initial consonants as well.

About him: dark blonde hair, blue eyes, medium fair skin, slim yet healthy build, 40 inches tall, 38 pounds. LOVES sweet foods and can eat an enormous amount of vanilla ice cream, cookies, all of that. Sweats out of his head a lot while sleeping. Still needs a long mid-day nap, then is up to 10 or 11 pm and sleeps solidly until 7 or so. Was jaundiced as a baby and had to spend 3 days under special lights, that's the only health problem ever had. Only had antibiotics once, this spring, for something like strep throat. Not vaccinated. Very sweet, comical, outgoing with family but more shy around strangers. Can be very stubborn and even slightly violent--pushing and hitting--when his much bigger (11) sister tries to be the boss of him. Started loving to draw this year, and be very imaginative, becoming different animals and characters. He is a dear, I don't want this to become a nightmare for him...looking forward to your advice/instructions regarding remedies--THANK you!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi I read a case study of a child that stuttered after a course of antibiotics and also had a desires for ice cream, milk cheese, salty, and eggs that are highly characteristic of Calcarea carbonica.(Did the stuttering begin after his course of antibiotics?) The child was given the 200 potency and the stuttering disappeared. Note: the child got an ear infection and was given antibiotics by her doctor, the stuttering re appeared (possibly antidoting the remedy). 200 potancy was given again with no great effect, a 1M potency was needed to bring her speech back to normal.
Here is a bit about the Cal Carb type child. This is just a guide and your child does not have to tick all the boxes of a Cal Carb, but if you can see a similarity Calcium Carbonate could be the remedy.
The Calc Carb child tends to be very stubborn, although highly sensitive to being teased or criticised. The Calc Carb child is often slow to talk and slow to walk, and doesn’t like to be rushed. Mothers often find themselves hurrying the Calc Carb child along. Concentration is usually very good and this child can sit engrossed in play for long periods. The Calc Carb type may be timid, has many fears, but is an independent child and prefers to play alone. They have are also stubborn, inflexible and obstinate.
Calc Carb is also the first remedy for clamminess. This type of child sweats profusely on her head and hands, especially at night and from the slightest exertion. The Calc Carb child typically has a large, round head, a distended abdomen, swollen glands and a non-stop runny nose. Calc Carb types often have lots of reflux, indigestion and sour-smelling discharges. Reflux and digestion disorders are common, such as gluten, wheat and cow’s milk intolerance (they may even crave the substance they they are intolerant to such as icecream!/dairy products). The Calc Carb baby often has reflux, as well as cradle cap, eczema, asthma, warts and molluscums. The number one indicator that your child needs Calc Carb is a constant runny nose (even when the child seems to be in good health).

Another odd thing about the Cal Carb child or adult is that they like to eat sand, plaster or egg shells.
Hope this helps.

Dear MaudandMuse,

Have you ever seen a homeopath, face to face for your child?
That would be best, and if You need help with options let me know
where you are. Get a person, 5 yrs minimum exp, and that has exp.
with children and hopefully speech issues they have cured also.

Have to say, you really have to get him off sweets and the ice cream-
the ice cream , and icy fizzy drinks cause big problems down the road-
they throw off the entire body acid/alkaline balance and then everything
goes haywire-The body has to be in balance and digest correct to work.

Reva V a homeopath on here always tells moms to get Garden of Life
Childrens probiotics bc gut flora has to work right and gut flora gets
messed up after antibiotics or just bad eating habits.

I am new to this forum, but I just read your post and had a similar situation with my child stutering. I too was VERY concerned. I was told - more or less - that a childs brain is processing. etc faster than they can talk/get out their words, so they stutter. It stopped/went away as quickly as it came, although the stuttering definitely lasted several months. I was told to just help the child slow down and help him process what he is saying. I didn't even get mad and say slow down or anything but just helped my child work through. Hope this helps. Also, I have found homeopathy to be amazing, so you may easily get an answer that homeopathy will greatly help as well. Just thought I'd share my similar experience so you can hopefully worry a little less. Wishing you the best!

Please give him three doses of Stramonium 200 as follows and see how that affects in next 15 days (only 3 doses in 15 days).

day 1 morning
1st dose

day 1 evening
2nd dose

day 2 morning
3rd dose

One dose means
If the medicine is in pills form 2 pills. Don't touch pills with hand. Use cap of bottle to take pills.
If the medicine is in liquid dilution form, 1 drop in some 20 ml water. Sip up slowly.

Please follow homeo restrictions like no coffee, no raw onion/garlic, no strong perfumes, don't eat or drink anything within 30 minutes before or after taking medicine.

Thanks SO much for the replies! He does have a few of the calc carb qualiites like sensitive and sweaty head, but not the main ones of running nose or distended tummy, so I think first I will try the 'stratmonimum' remedy suggested ans see how that goes, will follow instructions and report back!!!

We live very rurally and I haven't yet found a local homeopath but the little health food store does have remedies.

The stutter was even before the antibiotics, but I will get him a gut flora supplement, thank you for the idea!

Thank you all for your generosity in taking the time to reply, I will post again when I start the remedy with him!

Hi Maud,
Don't know where you are, but you may have to order
the remedy off this ABC site, or if in Uk- order from
Helios homeopathic pharm-and if in Canada order from
Helios bc Canada is hard to find the right remedy and
right potency. If Australia you can call Newtons in sydney
and order by phone. You will get remedy from any of
these places within 5 days.

Kadwa is a long time prescriber on this forum- with a lot
of experience.

Thank you! Yes, I think I will order from the ABC site here...

Best Wishes.

lol Kadwa!! I am amazed at how you prescribe to all the empty boxes.

I don't know if I will ever prescribe, but I sure
like to learn and connect people to people who can
help.

thanks,

Hello again, just gave him the morning dose, and am following all directions ;)

Oh dear, Kadwa and everyone--while I was in the shower just now he found the little bottle and ate more pills--looks like around 30-40. I didn't imagine he would be able to work the little dispenser mecanism! I trust they won't harm him...but should I still do another 2 doses, tonight and the morning...? Hoping it was his inner wisdom at work and that he will show a wonderful result...Only about 1 little stutter this morning so may aleady be improving...

maudandmuse last decade
do not give him anymore medicine. Wait for Kadwa to tell
you what to do about this.

simone717 last decade
Oh crap, now I'm worried! He is acting happy and normal, though...

Just found this online, so looks like he will be okay, just maybe will have ruined the remedy for himself?:

You should take one at a time but if you take more there will be no adverse affect. If you take too many pills i.e. several a day for months on end then your body will become immune to their curative effect.

He has had an extra good day with stuttering, only a few small ones...!

Here's another one that made me feel better...I'm going to hold off on any more doses until I hear from Kadwa...

'Users and critics both agree that there are no serious side effects from taking homeopathic medicines. It is not possible to overdose on homeopathic medicines. Homeopathic medicines are not addictive or habit forming. Homeopathic medicines are derived from natural substances, including plants and minerals

You need not worry and you did the right research. Please don't give him the second and third dose as the first dose has made an impact. Please report after 15 days.

I'm so sorry I didn't reply after 15 days. The treatment didn't seem to have any positive effect on the stuttering, and I had my hopes built up so high that it would magically go away, that I guess I've been pretty depressed about it/not wanting to think about it, especially because maybe I caused it not to work by accidentally allowing him to overdose on it (remember he got ahold of bottle and ate a whole bunch of them like candy) Anyway...It's now been about a month and a half. He still stutters, sometimes quite badly, sometimes just slightly. The good thing is that so far he has no self-consciousness about it/negative feelings about it, so that's good. I've also noticed that he never does it while singing or while using his 'funny' voices (like during pretend play). We're all working on speaking slowly and making him feel listened to. I'm ready to try something homeopathic again if anyone has the next rememdy/dose we should try--thank you so much!!!!

Hi- some issues take some time to cure.

Reporting on time and telling what mental and physical
issues are going on at the time of reporting- lets
the prescriber see what comes next. Many things can
come next- more of same remedy, a different potency
of that remedy, a new remedy, waiting another week
and so on.

It does not work as in take one remedy and then you have
cure in 2 weeks for problems that have been there awhile.
it is a process. Acute things like having a cold, flu etc
are usually healed in a day or few days.

Hopefully Kadwa will prescribe again and then you have
to stay with the process- Some things take a month to
6 months to stabilize.

simone717 last decade
Ok...That makes sense to me...a problem that has gone on for a while could take a while to cure. Thanks for this perspective. The idea of a quick fix is pretty simplistic I guess. Sometimes I just get paralyzed with worry...But I'll try to do better (ddep breaths!)
