Phosporus dosing

Hi- I am wondering about dosing phosphorus. I am seeing a naturopath who has started me on phosphorus. I started with 30 C, which I first took once three days apart and it aggrivated my symptoms. After that, I took it every 2-3 days for about a month, then daily for 3 weeks- I notice a huge improvement. I just took one dose of 200 C a week ago, but my naturopath wants me to dose 200 C daily. I feel a little worse after this singular 200 C dose. I am new to homeopathy, but my understanding is that this potency should be dosed less frequently. Could you give me some guidance? Thanks!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
She is giving you too many doses, far too many. A remedy that is truly curative, does not need to be given so often. Taking it more often than you need it, runs a risk of producing side effects, or of palliating or suppressing your condition instead of curing it.

You should only need to go up to 200c if the 30c has stopped improving you. Repeating doses of 200c, if it is too soon, can reverse any improvements you have.

On the other hand, if 30c has stopped helping you, then 200c should continue the improvement, assuming it is the right remedy.

As you go up in potency in homoeopathy, the prescription must be more precise. If the remedy was only partially correct (what we call a partial similar) or if it was only palliative (not curing just covering up your symptoms) then as you increase the potency you will get less or even nothing from the remedy.

One of our most basic principles in homoeoapthy is Law of the Minimum dose - give only enough to begin the cure of the patient. Size of the dose (how much you are physically given) and frequency should be adjusted for each patient, based on their response. Mechanically dosing (as your naturopath appears to be doing) can ruin cases even if the remedy was correctly chosen.

Thank you for your response, Mr. kempon. I must anxiously asked if I have now ruined the healing I was feeling from the 30 c dosing? I have been chronically ill for 15 years, which became severe in the last year. I thought I was finally getting well. Should I just stop dosing at this point?

I don't know what to suggest. You can hardly run the treatment yourself.

Generally speaking, if you have markedly improved, you stop the remedy. You do not start it again until:

1. you relapse in a noticeable way

2. after waiting a reasonable amount of time (typically 2-4 weeks) the improvement gets no better (you stay improved but to the same degree)

3. you see the reappearance of old symptoms that still suit the same remedy, and they do not resolve themselves in a few days.

You also stop the remedy if you see a worsening of your current symptoms, or if old symptoms reappear while taking it, or if you develop any new symptoms.

There are ways to dose more frequently, but this requires the Split Dosing method. How does she have you administer the remedies?

Her guidance to me was different than what you suggested. She told me that as I was improving, I should continue to dose. Stop if I felt am aggravation of symptoms. My energy level and peace of mind greatly improved but many physical symptoms are improved. I feel a regression in the past three days and my energy is lower. I have also developed a new symptom in the past month.

I am grieved that this advice by my naturopath has been incorrect.

I am dosing pellets under the tongue.

Thank you once again.

She was wrong to say you should keep repeating the remedy. Most naturopaths are not properly trained in homoeopathic prescribing, so it is not surprising. Homoeopathy is complex and takes years of study and practice to master. Naturopaths' attentions are too widely spread over many therapies to give homoeopathy the attention it needs.

You are also not being given your dose properly.

INSTRUCTONS FOR SPLIT DOSING

Firstly, you need to create a separate dosing bottle. Get a bottle with a dropper, 15-30mls in size, and fill it with a mixture of water and alcohol (5 parts to 1 part). Dissolve 2-4 granules or 2-4 drops of the medicine you bought from the pharmacy into this mixture. Your doses will be made from this bottle.

Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of your hand, or another elastic surface like a book. It should be a firm hit not a tap. 2 hits is enough to begin with, and should not be increased unless it is clear that it is needed. The water in this bottle will 'remember' the number of times you have hit it, so that subsequent doses will be stronger (necessary to overcoming the resistance of your disease).

Place 1 drop into an amount of water - I may start with anything from 1/4-1 full cup (62ml-250ml) depending on the sensitivity of the patient. Stir thoroughly and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth. Throw the rest of the cup away.

This is one dose. Repeat doses would be started from the 2 hits on the bottle.

Each step of this process can be adjusted to reduced aggravation or to increase the effect of the medicine. In order to be able to do this, it is important to measure each step (count the hits, the drops, measure the water etc).

Being given the pellets (dry dose) repeatedly will agggravate you very badly. She clearly has not bothered to study our Organon of Medicine, which clearly prohibits repeated dry doses in order to prevent harm to the patient.
