Invasive prenatal tests and homeopathic prophylaxis

Hello, everyone.

I am 38 years old and pregnant with my second child.

In a few weeks time, I am about to have a transabdominal chorionic villus sampling test(CVS). It is very much like an amniocentesis, as I am told, though it is performed earlier in pregnancy in order to determine chromosomal abnormalities in the fetus.

The doctor has informed me that since such tests involve an invasive procedure, I should take a round of antibiotics to reduce the chance of infection.

I wouldn't like to resort to antibiotics after the improvement in my health that I have witnessed after I have managed to stay clear of allopathic medication (cortisone, antibiotics etc)for some time.

I am kindly asking you to give me your valuable suggestions as to the homeopathic remedy I could use to replace antibiotics.

Also in case uterine contractions occur following this procedure, is there also another homeopathic remedy I could use?

Thank you in advance for your time.

I look forward to your feedback.

Regards,

Danae

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Unfortunately there isn't a homoeopathic 'version' of antibiotics. Our medicines are chosen on the basis of the individual's symptoms rather than the idea of an underlying general infection. While I am certain that there would be a remedy for anything that might occur, it would be hard to know ahead of time what that could be.

One could however treat the way we would any wound - since a needle or catheter is used to pierce the body, one could consider a remedy like Ledum to avoid complications from that.

Hello,

Thank you very much for your very prompt reply!

Well, I am aware that homeopathic treatment is individualized rather than disease oriented.

I have been given first Sepia and later Lac Humanum and Lac Felinum as constitutional treatment in the recent past. Would that be of any help for the next prescription?

I wonder, would any of the above remedies would be of any help?

I understand it is rather difficult to suggest a remedy ahead of time but I am anxious in case I don't have the required remedy and potency when the time comes. So I thought it would be better to be prepared ahead of time.

I would appreciate any further feedback.

Thanks very much

Remedies to have for invasive procedures are: Ledum, Hypericum, Arnica, Calendula.

Thank you very much for your reply Maheeru!

Can you please suggest which potency is more suitable for each of the remedies mentioned and for how long any of them should be taken?

Thanks again for your time.

Before the procedure one dose of arnica 30c would be fine. After the procedure Ledum and Hypericum 30c three doses for one day only.

If you find discomfort after a day you will have to up the potency to 200 and or have to continue the medicines for one more day.

welcome.

Thank you for your valuable input Dr Maheeru.

I would like to ask another question if I may.

In case uterine contractions occur, in the wake of this invasive procedure, can you please suggest any remedies to have handy, in case I need them? I remember that when I underwent a similar procedure with my first child(amniocentesis),I did experience uterine contractions. I must confess that I panicked. Unfortunately, I knew nothing about Homeopathy back then, so I resorted to allopathic medication which I do not want to use at present.

Thank you so much for your time.

Regards,

Danae

Pre procedure arnica is to prevent such problems. You can have kali phos. 6x, 5 pills dissolved in 30 to 50 ml of water in a bottle. If you experience contractions you can take frequent sips from this bottle. Otherwise one has to be present to see the symptoms to suggest a remedy in that situation.

All said, the procedure is not without risks. Unless necessary(in case of severe hereditary problems) these procedures can be done without.
