10month old, teething, fever, cough (vomiting)

My 10 month old daughter is currently teething, has developed cold/ cough (last 6-7 days) and running a low grade temp (100 F). Dazed eyes. Today also vomitted - predominantly mucoid/ cough. Not coughing but nasal passage partly blocked with deep breathing sound. Nasal discharge is sticky/ white. Could not sleep well last night - fever, nasal blockage, constant twitching.

In the past, calc carb has helped her with sleep etc. Teething delayed - this is her first set of teeth (one teeth has partly cut through).

Gave her pulsatilla initially which helped her reduce watery nasal discharge.

Pls suggest something for her fever & cough. Should I try Belladonna?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Forgot to add... we were travelling last week to a place somewhat cooler with damp weather. Not sure if this is due to change in weather. She started with runny nose (which was helped by Pulsatilla). Now that we are back, she has developed fever.

Stools are Ok.

If the problems have started after travelling to a place somewhat cooler with damp weather, Calcarea Carb 200 may help her.

Thank you sir, would give her calc carb 200.
I presume only one dose should be enough.

Also, can I give her Crocin for temp?

?Since fever child has turned to be dull (i.e. slow in walking, slow in answering, looks sleepy, week, and desires to lie down)

Accepting extra covering/cloths or demanding extra cloths/covering.?

Is drinking good quantity of water or asking for water too frequently.?

Do you have tried cold-wet bandage to bring temperature low

or Child is not allowing cold-wet bandage applied on head/body.

If fever stays about 103 or 104 one should be aggressive to bring it down.

Dr. Rakesh Km Lko last decade
100 F doesn't need Crocin.

Fevers like these are signs that body'sdefensive mechanism is working and we shouldn't distur it.

One needs to intervene with medication/wet sponging with luke warm water (not cold water) only if the fever is higher than 103 F.

Yes, the child has turned dull with fever - doesnot have energy to move, is weak and wants to either lie down/ or carried. Doesnot like extra coverings.
She continued to vomit last evening..even vomitted few sips of water..
finally had to give her anti-emetic after patiently waiting for 8 hours for her to retain anything..
Fever is not high...allopathic doctor mentions this is viral fever currently prevalent in the city (as this is the onset of monsoon).

Can you pls suggest something??

Indu04 last decade
To add - after the 1st, subsequent vomittings were of stomach contents and not mucoid.

Gave her Calc Carb 20 yesterday. Now there is no cold.

Indu04 last decade
Phosphorous is a possibility if she is dehydrated.

Wait for Dr.Rakesh's view.

Definitely Phosphorus is next indicated medicines as cover vomiting as well as is well following medicine after Calc. Carb.

Child should be give 1 teaspoon of water every 5 minute or 10 minutes if not tolerated yet.

Belladonna, acute of Calc. Carb should be considered first if symptoms are indicating it too.

Dr. Rakesh Km Lko last decade
Since her cold/ cough has now subsided and it is nausea/ vomitting & fever that is troubling her - Is it ok to proceed with phosphorus?

Also could you pls advice potency ..

thanks for your help.

Indu04 last decade
Since there is improvement, we should not change medicine and apply wait and watch approach.

Try to keep her hydrated as I told.

Dr. Rakesh Km Lko last decade
Sure, would do as advised. Would hold on giving anything,

thanks

Sir,

Her fever came down two days after, on June 17. Though her appetite never returned / was very cranky. NOw today, she has again started vomiting and also has loose watery stools.

I had given her Fer Phos 6x for 2-3 days in between.

Are we to give any medication now or wait?

Pls advise. Thanks for your help.

Regards
Indu

Please refer this page and tell her symptoms in ABC wise.

Since her fever came off, she has been (A) cranky/ restless - nothing satisfies her for too long, is weak hence gets frustated (b)avoids covering (c) drinks a lot of water (d) trying to sleep but unable to take naps during day (e) is better/ calmer in fresh air (f) no appetite for food (g) wants someone to be with her always.

Now there is no fever/ cough/ cold... the local doc has again said this is due viral prevalent..

Gave her 1 dose of Puls 30 and report after 4 hour of dose.

Sir, gave her puls 30.

..yesterday she did not have any stools after that. No vomitings. Today again no vomitings..her morning stool was perfectly normal (as it always is), her days stools were kind of semi-solid but extremely smelly.

I did give her Fer phos today as I think it keeps her less cranky and helps her appetite/ reduces nausea.

In the article, apart from what you mentioned,I would say she has H (Dentition), I, T, yesterday was U (not today), and yes generally they are W (almost pale white at times). ALso, just before her stool turned loose/ watery, her stool before was large (and perfectly fine). Similarly today, first stool was ok.

Pls let me know if giving her Fer Phos is Ok? Can dentition (as she is putting everything in her mouth)

Thanks for your kind help.

Indu04 last decade
Ferrum Phos is okay.

I asked you to reply in four hours, but you not replied timely. From where you use internet home or office?

You should give her Puls 30C one dose daily for two days then reply.

Putting everything in mouth may be one of the most culprit. You can not prevent keeping her putting fingers in mouth, but you can everything clean and disinfected around her though is difficult.

Apologies Dr. Rakesh - I access internet both from office and home..but here in Mumbai owing to heavy rains telephone lines around the residence area were disrupted and I did not go to office on Mon..

I would report as suggested by yourselves.

Currently her stools continue to be soft, and extremely smelly. Though she was much less cranky..

thanks for your assistance,

Kind regards

Oh Ic,

During rainy season please try to keep everything clean and must use rat killers as they may urinate on things you use.

Their urine sometimes contains leptospirosis/toxin.

Sir,
There has been no change in her motions - offensive, some-what loose (all motions are now like this). today she seemed to be in pain while passing motions (she cried everytime, 3 so far)..

Can I try Nuv Vomica, it helped her last time she had an infection.
thanks for your help.

P.S. there are no rats at our home :)

Indu04 last decade
You should give her Sulphur 30C tomorrow morning three dose at 10 minute interval i.e. all three doses should be given with half hour empty stomach.

What about other symptoms i.e. fever, vomiting, appetite?.

Purchase Psorinum 30C.

Dr. Rakesh Km Lko last decade
No fever & vomiting.

Appetite not yet returned. Having only milk, refusing to take any solids..
