Irregular periods, PCOS

I am a 23 year old. I never knew to check on my periods and as I got older around the age 18 my parents started to notice that I did not have periods and asked me to have it checked. I also had excessive facial hair and growing tired of it I decided to get laser hair removal. They lady there asked me to get a checkup and see if I have PCOS. Upon going to the doctor, she informed me that I had PCOS and a high level of testosterone. They also tested me later when I got married at 22 and found out that I do not ovulate. I would like to get pregnant and have regular periods. Please prescribe a medicine which will help regulate them as well as possibly help in increased ovulation, resulting in pregnancy. Thank you.

Could you please provide the following information for selection of proper medicine?
Patient ID: I’m not sure where to obtain this.
Sex: F
Age:23
Nature of work: Student
Habits: Most of my work involves sitting down. I try to walk or do some very small exercise otherwise long commutes and classes as well as studying requires sitting down.

Describe your main suffering and from how long?
I notice that I have irregular periods starting at age 18, before that I didn’t know about the necessity to have regular menses. This has then be going on for at least 5 years. The periods are usually off in number of days that can vary from 18-36 and skips month. The number of days they last usually stays around 7 but sometimes long upto 10 days. The blood also varies sometimes it’s a little bit darker and tended towards black and somewhat thick and at other times it is completely red. It usually starts a little more dark and then goes to normal. I used to feel cramps but I don’t have them anymore. In 2007 I got married and decided to tell my doctor about this and she tested me and told me that I should take progesterone, which will help regulate my periods. I did take it for 3 month and after that my periods became regular. This was in 2008 january that I started taking that medicine. By july my period was skipped. I again went to the doctor and told her and she said I could take Yaz, a birth control pill, which also helps to regulate periods. I started taking the pill and my periods became regular again. I took it again for 3 month and then stopped using it. Up until last month my periods were regular. Now I am expecting my periods but it has not come. It got skipped last month as well. I also noticed that exercise usually helped to get my period, when I was feeling the pain that it was coming but it wouldn’t start, but now I don’t even feel the sense that it is going to come. I usually don’t drink enough water and I am working on that. My food intake is mostly solid (breads and other such foods), I try to eat vegetables but usually do not eat fruits.

Exact location of problem?
menses
Any cause which you feel for this ailment?
Possibly not exercising and moving around.
What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
In between my buttox I had a cyst which popped but part of it is still there and it hurts me when I sit for more than 5 minutes
I usually have flu like symptoms with mucus, which makes it difficult to breathe from my nose. The mucus also my throat to hurt.
What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
I don’t have any mental suffering with it.
When did it all start?
I started to notice it when I was 18 I do not actually know when it started.
What are the things which aggravate or ameliorate your suffering?
Ususally not excercising or sitting around.
When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
They seems to come more in the winter than in the summer, but I keep myself warm in the winter and they come.
What do you crave for in food items and what are your aversions?
I crave warm type of foods, (salan, roti or pasta type of stuff) I like to have meat a couple of times in a week but not to much. Will eat lentils as well. I really like to eat food with breads some sweets as well but not usually a big fan of sweets. I cannot have cold things, it makes me sick (meaning flu even if it is summer). Cold milk or yogurt aggravate my mucus, which usually results in more sever symptoms and make it difficult to breath through my nose. Hard to sleep at night when this is going on.

I do get thirsty but usually avoid drinking a lot of water. I am trying to catch up on that. Most of the times I only have 1 glass or 2 glasses of water in a day.

I don’t eat breakfast, but eat a large lunch and then eat dinner. I used to only eat one time a day but after consultation with my mother because she realized I only went to the bathroom (for bowl movements) every other day, I started eating twice a day.

How is your bowel movement and stool type (Constipation etc.)?
Nowadays, it is normal. I usually do go to the bathroom almost all the time (once a day) but it depends on how much food I eat.
How sleep, how are your dreams?
Depending on how well I can breathe at night I usually get about 8 hours of sleep. I have dream sometimes but not necessarily with significance.
