Help before surgery for Anal Fistula - Fissure

My 19 year old usually healthy son had surgery for a perianal abscess in February 2008. He has now been informed that the entrance to the surgery has formed a fistula, this is why he has a leakage from the site which has an unpleasant odour. After reading about these things I now understand that a fistula is a tube from the abscess site on the side of the bowel to the exterior, which in his case is near his scrotum. He has been told at his three months check up that surgery will be required. I have been looking constantly to see if there is any alternative to this horrible surgery. Over the last couple of weeks I decided to ask him to try manuka honey internally and also live yoghurt. This seems to have calmed the site down considerably. This morning his appointment came to see the surgeon on the 17th July and we are now wondering and hoping if this is showing signs of repair should we give it a chance to repair without surgery? I have been reading that some people have been taking silicea 30c along with Arnica 30c and also Nat Phos. Can anyone recommend anything. He's so young and found out about his surgery quite unexpectedly at his check up. He thought he was going to be told that it was fine and the surgeon said of course you know that you will have to have further surgery. This was the first my son knew anything about it.
I would be so grateful for any help at all.

Regards to all

Forgot to ask, how should this be taken. I have just looked on this site and found the remedy and it said it was best suited to dark hair people. My son is quite blond with fair skin.

Could my son take Nitric acid-30c along with the silicea 30 which he was also recommended at the same time as Nitric acid-30c as this seems to have shrunk the fistula considerably and stopped it pussing and now only thin blood oozes occasionally.

I think that Nit.Acid has worked successfully, therefore, no other remedy is needed at the moment. However I also advise to stop Nit.Acid-30 and give hime Nit. Acid-200 (3 drops per dose) twice a week after a gap of four days and report after 2 weeks.

Thank you very much for your help. Will it be ok to take the Nit. Acid-200 strength straight away as he has only been taking the silicea 30. I wasn't sure if my previous post was very clear. I will go and get som Nit.Acid-200 this morning & report back in two weeks.

Hi worriedmum

I think Dr. Mahfooz thought that Nit. ac 30 has worked and hence his suggestion to up the potency. But I think in reality you've only used silicea 30. So before administering nit. acid 200 to your son, I'd request you to clarify with Dr. Mahfooz.

Dear Dr Mahfooz, I know it's longer than two weeks since I posted for help. The silicea is fantastic. After only three days it was really painful and then leaked badly for a couple of days. It then shrunk right back and dried up, still leaving a passage, but hardly any leakage. My son continued to take the silicea, but only now and again. It flared up and was quite painful a couple of weeks ago and again he took the silicea as prescribed. After three days it poured with blood etc and then shrunk right back again. He has a return visit to the hospital next week for a check up and is happy to continue maintaining it in this way. The hospital tried to persuede him to have it removed at the last check up, but agreed to see how it went. As it is not troubling him, can this be always maintained in this way please. Thank you so much for your help and advice.

Today my son went to the hospital for a check up and the consultant said that he saw from the notes that my son wanted to avoid surgery at the last check up. He asked if he could look at the fistula and couldn't believe it when he saw that it was almost gone. He actually said 'you have proved me wrong and I'm not usually wrong.' He then said that he wanted to discharge my son and only needed to see him it it ever reoccurrec. GREAT NEWS!!!!!
For anyone reading this silicea really has been brilliant. Good Luck to anyone who has to suffer one of these horrible things and try silicea.
