broken rib cartilage

hi : i broke my rib cartilage,in the front right side, like 10 years ago, i am mostly fine all the time, but as soon as i tried to move like exercise, play tennis or lift weight, or even do crunches i have a lot of pain in the cartilage, in my back, and also in all my right side around the ribs .
could you please suggest me a remedy that can help me either heal this situation or take it when i have the pain?

thank you

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hi love and peace,

1. have you had any xrays of what is actually going on in the area?

2. Is this worse from heat?

3. Do you get pain at all in cold weather?

You can start out with Calcaria Phos 200c. Take one dose
for 3 days in a row. Report back after 4 days what is happening.

This is to start a healing on the bones themselves. There are
a couple other remedies for pain, but start with this.

Nice to talk to you again.

Take care,

Simone717

Hi,

Cal Phos is specifically for bone injury and for old bone
injury. So start with that, 3 pills under the tongue, dissolve,
and take half hour before or after food and drink. Stay
away from coffee on the days you are taking.

Hi-

Tell me what is going on now?

1.What is the mri, xray showing?

2.Where is the pain location?

3.What does the pain feel like?

4.What helps the pain? Rubbing , pressure,
hot, cold, movement, no movement, laying down,
etc.

5.What makes the pain worse?

6. When do you have the pain?

7. What have you been taking for it- herbs,
allopathic meds, homeopathic meds, etc.

Thanks

dear simone :

this injury is over a decade now .
x rays never showed anything since it is the soft tissue.
the pain is in the chest right sided location , cartilage of the ribs.
it helps resting it is painful to move.
after many many different techniques i realized that the cartilage got torned .
homeopathy for this i never took anything since my knowledge on homeopathy started some years ago and i never thought homeopathy could help this.

i hope this helps .

thank you

Hi-

For 10 years you have been having pain?

When you do have pain, does something
trigger it that you can think of or is it only exercise that
does this?

.Please answer #4 and # 7 (about what you
have done for the pain that is not
homeopathic?)

You never tried the Cal phos 6x that I advised?

hi simone :

yes i tried cali phos 6 but i didnt feel any difference.
i injured myself 10 years or more ago.
i did physical therapy, massage, acupuncture , etc etc, all of them helped but i am restricted in my movements.
i am a lot better now, but from time to time if i stretch i always feel pain, and if i go to far then i feel that the cartilage opens again.
being that very very painful and it takes months to heal.
so as a result there are a lot of movements i dont do anymore to avoid that situation.

thank you for your help .

It almost certainly won't respond to an injury remedy at this late stage. Any injury that hangs around long enough without healing becomes part of a deeper problem with your ability to heal, and that relates to the constitutional problems usually.

Evocationer 9 years ago
Hi love and peace-

What is happening is that you continue to re-injure
the area by the type of exercise you are doing-especially if the area has not healed up totally
and then you do the wrong type of lifting or twisting
and then it takes 3 to 6 months for this type of
thing to heal completely.

A. It would be good for you to go to the Dr. and
see if you have done anymore damage in the area-
thru xray or Mri and get the facts.

B.If your health insurance allows it- get physical
therapy and learn what you can and cannot do while
healing and when you Can do it.

C. I would try the MSM or the product that this doctor uses that has the MSM in it and the other.
He is writing a letter here to a man who injured this
area in a ski fall.

D. For homeopathic, I suggest you take Arnica 200c-
mix 3 pills in a couple tablespoons of water and take
a tsp for a dose. Take this for 5 nights- then report. If you have a worsening, stop dosing and
report then.

Here is the letter from dr. to patient:

Everything you have described is indicative of cartilage injury, however, the joint space where the ribs meet the vertebra is another common area to have dysfunction after a direct trauma. I am not sure what answer you read previously(Kevin), as I have answered hundreds, so I will explain this a bit further.

The cartilage when damaged is very slow to heal and often results in ongoing pain and dysfunction. Moreover, the joint capsule responds in a similar manner for the same reason...both anatomical structures have a poor blood supply. Therefore, the healing times will be greater, and often these problems will become chronic.

Now, yes, I would suggest that you have it checked out by a doctor. I would advise you to have a chiropractic physician check it out. If you have already ruled out a fracture, then a chiropractor is one of the few physicians who will actually work with the joint space to further diagnose the are and to make sure the injury is correctly identified. Medical physicians are not trained in biomechanics of the spine and rib interfaces...its not what they do, they prescribe medicine. If the joint is the problem, the chiropractor can adjust the articulation and this should significantly reduce discomfort, but it will need to be addressed frequently in a two to three week period for the best overall resolution.

If the injury is truly to the cartilage, then there is really little you can do. The best option is to rest the area, and support it as much as possible. You can wrap it, but realize that a wrap must not be tight. You can restrict lung expansion and this can lead to infection...so be careful.

In either case, cartilage or joint injury, I would additionally recommend that you start taking glucosamine sulfate for a minimum of 6 months...(Do not take the glucosamine HCl form it is poorly utilized.) 3000mg per day for two weeks, then reduce your intake down to 1500mg per day. You should also take MSM (methylsulfonylmethane), 1500mgs per day for two weeks, then reduce down to 750mgs per day. This will give the tissue what it needs to repair and lubricate the surfaces of the joint. Anti-inflammatory enzymes are also something you should consider to reduce the inflammation in the area.

I utilize a product with my patients from a company called Ideal Health, and it is top notch called "FLEX CAPS", I take it myself as well due to old ankle injuries. It contains everything I mentioned above in one product to reduce costs. You can find it at www.idealhealth.com. You may be prompted for a referral name or code, and you can just type in my name, or use my clinic code 5582806 if you wish. I have had great results with patients on this product...I have a few patients who swear by it.

Lastly, if nothing helps your pain, and the doctors you see still can't quite seem to figure out the problem, I would recommend that you do some research on Prolotherapy. This utilizes injections into the cartilaginous tissue to help jumpstart a new inflammatory process and thereby break the old chronic inflammatory process. It is a new technique showing promise, but most doctors are not certified to perform it yet. You will need to research physicians in your area to see if they are qualified and actually utilize the technique.

Good Luck Jerry.

Respectfully,
Dr. J. Shawn Leatherman

Why not just try constitutional homoeopathic treatment? Works for most of my patients who come with old injuries as part of the picture. Very often the qualities of the remedy they need on a deeper level can be seen in the qualities of the injury. Sometimes the whole case is a remedy well known for injuries - people with those constitutions are more vulnerable to long term injuries.

Evocationer 9 years ago
I have seen a lot of cases, where the
constitutional remedy did not work, and what
they needed was the remedy, for Never Well
Since.. and in these particular cases the remedy
was Arnica, one was a car accident 10 years prior, another was a head injury 30 years prior,
etc.

Also, if he was exercising and stretching too
quickly after some months, which he seems to
want to do, and the fact that these things
take time to heal- 3 to 6 months then he would
have to learn what he could and could not do
until full healing took place.

So I am of the opinion to start with Arnica
and see what happens there first and do the
MSM and glucosamine bc for many it helps speed
up the process. Also, myself I would go to
the chiropractor- and see if that is needed.

I myself have got out of alignment thru sports,
and no homeopathic or allopathic worked until
the chiropractor did one adjustment on my tailbone and blood flow, nerve flow, etc
were restored and pain vanished.

dear simone and evocationer :

thank you so much for your interest in my case .
i had a lot of injuries in the past , that have been very slow to heal because they were on the soft tissue even though i am much better now from time to time and because certain movements, and i am very carefully to how i move in order not to re injure myself.

i will do as you both advice i know that you guys are excellent , and thank you so much simone for the letter i did tried msm and glucosamine but not in those amounts and not for that long periods of time .

i really appreciate your time to answer .

Hi Love and peace,

It is important to report back on time.So please
take the Arnica and report so we can see if
this direction proves to be correct.

simone717 9 years ago
hi simone :

i will report, but i dont have arnica 200c with me, meanwhile i order it and take it , is going to be a few days .

thank you.

love and peace 9 years ago
hi simone :

yes, the arnica 200 seems to be helping, my pain has already decreased .
this is something that is always there, better, worse, what remedy do you recommend me to have handy besides arnica?

thank you .

love and peace 9 years ago
Hi-

We want to fix it so it is not
always there. I cannot advise
another remedy to have "handy".I have always had a kit, with 30c
remedies to cover the basics of general things.

Did you take 5 doses? When was the last dose taken?

How much is the improvement- percentage wise?

Best,

Simone

simone717 9 years ago
dear simone :

thank you for your answer and help.
last dose was taken like a week ago, the remedy is working but i dont know if this remedy will heal this issue.

so far percentage is like 40 % but the pain was getting a little bit better before taking the remedy.

thank you .

love and peace 9 years ago
Hi Love and peace,

The way this works is when results are happening you keep going with
the remedy as far as it will take you. Then you see what is left and
chose the next remedy to match those symptoms.

I would like you now to make up the Arnica remedy in a different way.

If you have obtained pillules or pellets, you will need a small bottle and a dropper to make your own liquid dose. Mix water and alcohol into this small bottle to the ratio of 5:1. Dissolve 3 pillules/pellets into this bottle. All doses will be made from this bottle.

If you already have a liquid dose just start from step 1.

1. Hit the bottle 5 times firmly against the palm of the hand

2. Place 3 drops into 100mls of clean fresh water

3. Stir very thoroughly

4. Take 2 teaspoons out into the mouth and hold for 20 seconds, then swallow.
Take two doses of this with a gap of one day in between. Then report again on
the 5th day and let me know what is happening.

( Are you taking the MSM or other products in the dosage suggested by
the doctor in that letter? And or what else are you taking if anything)

Thanks,

Simone

Love and Peace,

Are you the same person as the one on the other thread?

442631?

I thought this thread was a male and the other one is female.

simone717 9 years ago
hi simone :

i am not a male, i am a female and yes dr evocationer treated me with nux vomica for a horrible headache that i had for almost 10 years with great success even the pain is still there.
i am not taking nux vomica with arnica,,, is almost a month that i dont take nux vomica since the dr told me to hold on my pain to see how it progress.
this post was posted a long time before he started with my issue, nux vomica did nothing for my rib injury.
i have several different injuries different years, different parts of the body.

i am not suppossed to ask or post different questions ? if so , then i apologize , but my headache and the ribs are not the same thing my ribs dont hurt when i have the headache, this injury is a long older that the migraine issue.

please let me know , if i am doing wrong so i wont bother again .

thanks for your help .

Hi love and peace,

Things just got confused, bc this thread began in
Nov and then nothing until Feb- I did not know
you were being treated by Evocationer.

The way it works, is one remedy at a time.

And one person has to be in charge of everything,
otherwise you can be prescribed remedies that
interfere with and cancel out, what the other
prescriber is doing.

It is interesting that your ribs do not hurt when
you have the migraine.

It is good that you did not take Arnica and nux vom
together.

There is no problem, you just did not understand,
a lot of people come on here, and do several posts
at the same time for different body issues, usually
I see that and let them know.

Anyway, I suggest that you go back to your other
thread with Evocationer and list the Arnica doses
you have had, and what is going on with All things,
so that All info about you is on one thread.

Take care,

Simone
