This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Potency is selected on the basis of:
1. Degree of similarity to the patient's symptoms (how much like the remedy you are - especially how many peculiar symptoms in your case match the peculiars in the remdy).
2. Intensity of the disease (strength of the symptoms).
3. Where the disease is primarily expressing itself (pathology, physical, general, emotional, mental)
4. How much physical pathology (tissue change) there is
You take low potencies when there is a lot of pathological changes, the disease is not very intense, the disease is expressing itself mainly on the physical plane, and/or you only have common broad symptoms of the remedy.
You take higher potencies when there is very little pathology, the symptoms are intense, the disease is expressing itself in the general, emotional or mental planes, and/or you have a number of strange/rare/peculiar symptoms associated with the remedy.
Lower potencies are anything below 12c. Higher potencies are anything 30c and up.
Some of this means potency selection, while individualised for the patient, also must be individualised for the style of the practitioner (why they are giving it, what they are prescribing on).
The wrong potency may actually have no effect, so it is important to try and get it as close to what you need as is possible.
I cannot see where someone prescribed for you, if they took your case or if they are just suggesting this remedy on the basis of the name of your condition. So I have no idea what potency would suit you.
