White Bumps In Throat

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom tajnyj [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-08
Chalk me up as another person who joined after finding this forum. And, well, I have to admit I have a somewhat limited understanding of homeopathy. I've really enjoyed reading up on some of the ideas presented in the last 40 pages or so, and I can certainly say I know a lot more about my tonsils than I ever did before.

I think I'm going to take my ENT's advice and go for the surgery. My left tonsil has the usual variety super-sized crypts, but my right one...well, my ENT and I have a running joke that I could probably charge rent on my crypts. Seriously, I should see if that puppet from HBO needs work. Once, while trying to swallow some pills and deal with chaos at work at the same time, I got one of those capsule-sized ibuprofen stuck in one.

Alas, I work as a stage manager, and finding two whole -days- I can afford to be off my game is hard, let alone nearly two weeks. September is the earliest I can even begin thinking about it. So, based on the advice found on this forum I bought a waterpik (I drilled out the low pressure tip with a hobby drill, to gentle the thing.) some salt, and some alcohol free mouthwash.

Like a lot of folks, I was -disturbed- when I first managed to get the pik's wand thingy behind those little skin flaps that half-cover my tonsil. It was like a tonsil-stone convention, and for the love of -Pete- the -taste-. It took hours to get the taste out of my mouth, as my freshly irrigated cryptage kept oozing goo.

The left side was even scarier than the right, even though I had no discomfort/pain there. So yeah, I have to chime in as thinking irrigation is probably a danged good idea. I'm still having discomfort, but the smell factor has gone waaaay down.

So wow, yeah, THANK YOU folks, for sharing your experiences and opinions on the aggravating tonsil beasties.

Hi All!

I am so glad you guys posted on here.

I got my first tonsil stone when I was 7 and swimming. I was always told it was just a piece of my sinus lining. Eeek! Lately my husband has been complaining of bad breath on my part. And I have great oral hygiene!

I've been getting more and more of these lately. I'm 27 and have TMJ as well.

I just got a Waterpik - does this help anyone else? And how do you remove them without gagging?

O my gosh i am so glad i found this sight! so so glad! as you can tell from my username i am so damn sick of these disgusting little things and the foul taste i have in my mouth 99% of the time, infact i cant remember the last time my mouth didnt taste bad so there you go. I am only 20 and i cant remember when I started noticing these things but they are truly repulsive. as i live in NZ all this stuff you guys talk about like the water piks and stuff arent available as far as i know. I just (10 mins ago) took someones suggestion and went and got a little syringe and managed to syringe like 8 of these things out of my left tonsil. The right one isnt inflamed and doesnt appear to have any, is that weird? I would be so grateful to anyone with any ideas on what i can get in NZ for this problem? i am so close to demanding i have my tonsils out, my left tonsil is so massive, it takes up about 1.4 of my throat and i cant even see the bottom of it.
i am desperate! feel free to email me...anyone? this is runing my life! i have to get up in the night and drink juice to rid my mouth of the foul taste! kendalldotfdotgreenatgmaildotcom
please!

well sinus is one thing but all together you have to think about the health of your throat and try everything before removal to make sure that it is your decision......in response to sumita 1978

I donot intent to go for tonsillectomy. But these white stinky spots are troubling me a lot it has never stayed for so long. 20 days are quite some time.
Do you think temperature flactuation are also a cause of these small monsters.
I would also appreciate if some enlighten me little on watjet. What are they? How are they used and is it easily available in market. What do u people do whenever you get tonsilstones.
Thanks

Just curious if anyone else is testing pH levels? I have tonsils full of stones that have not grown much or any since December. I test high alkaline. I ate enough junk food for a few days to test my theory and I had one stone pop out. But I'm still testing pretty high alkaline. I'm thinking that I won't kill them off being alkaline, but maybe they just don't grow when I'm extremely alkaline. Someone else needs to test this. Just my thoughts and observations. Good Luck all!

ok, I GOOFED and I think that my one tonsil stone that I've grown in the last 6 months might be because I stopped painting with the iodine for a week instead of the acidity thing. MAYBE. Someone else may want to check it out. I think maybe the iodine painting inhibits the growth even tho it doesn't kill the bacteria.

I can tell you that in less than 12 hours a one inch by six inch square of painting dissapeared. Before I had stopped painting for the week I was up to having a one inch square stay for over 24 hours.

Found this at http://www.doctorndtv.com/topicsh/Tonsillitis.asp
"Subacute tonsillitis is most commonly caused by actinomyces, a normal mouth bacterium that can cause infection." AND "Gargle with warm salt water or povidone iodine antiseptic mouthwashes"

So I went exploring about this type of mouthwash...if anyone lives where they can purchase it, they may want to test it out. http://www.intekom.com/pharm/adcock/betadn-o.html

And... check it out...just cause we can now! :) From...ok, I GOOFED and I think that my one tonsil stone that I've grown in the last 6 months might be because I stopped painting with the iodine for a week instead of the acidity thing. Hi guys,

I haven’t been on in a while..... geez so many suffers...

I had my tonsils removed earlier this year and I was still concerned because I still suffered with Bad Breath...

However, after the surgery we discovered that I had an abscess on tooth which had a root canal and a crown on it so it was hard to pinpoint where the actual smell was coming from. Trust me it was a different smell and taste from the Tonsil Stone smell and taste..........

Got the tooth fixed and here are my final results both good and not so good........

Since the surgery:

1) I do not have TONSIL STONES anymore... YEAH YEAH

2) I do not have the white coating on my tongue (which I believe causes the Bad Breath smell)

3) My self esteem has blossomed

4) My Post Nasal Drip has stopped altogether

5) On the flip side it seems as if I have developed more allergies or the allergy problems are more noticeable since I don't have all that other stuff going on.

6) I will say that my immune system is not fighting off colds like they should {but I have also stopped taking my vitamins}. I get sick more often than before but again I don't take my vitamins....

To the young man who is suffering and can't face another day.... Please have the surgery done........It was the best decision that I have ever made!!!!!!

Best of Luck to you ALL....

I forgot to add:::::::

Also I lost my sense of taste for about two months and lost about 15 pounds because I couldn't eat and food just tasted blah!!!!

I also developed dry mouth due to the allergies but the ENT says to keep drinking water and I should be FULLY recovered by June......

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom tonsilsnomore [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-14
Hi Xlaura,

If the surgery is done correctly there shouldn't be any holes or crypts left in your throat.

I now have a clean healthy smooth looking pink throat....... with NO WHITE BUMPS!!!!

Best of luck in your recovery, honestly the recovery was not all that bad, drink plenty of water and try to stop the pain before it starts..... take your medicine as scheduled and you should be OK...... NO ice cream, sherbet mixed with fruit punch was a gourmet meal to me during my recovery.....

I havent been here in a while because i thought that my stones had just gone away! Turns out i was wrong. Today i coughed one up and i still feel like there is something wedged behind my toncil! I cant see like i usually can so i cant remove it, but its really getting me down. Today is the 1st time ive actually been able to smell the stench in my own breath - which is why im worried this is a large one. Ive tried gargaling and coughing and sneezing to try and dislodge it and nothings work
Someone help me!!

p.s. im from the uk and we dont have waterpiks here either xx

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom rocha [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-15
Amyztx- You can get waterpiks here, got one myself but was very little use to me. Ended up just spraying water everywhere without getting rid of anything at all. If you want to try it yourself you should be able to get one at Boots, if not ebay. I've got exactly the same as you right now and its so annoying. I've got a feeling its something to do with general health. I seem to always have a cold or flu and I'm always tired. Might be something to do with overall diet in terms of healthyness weakening the immune system.

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom chenson [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-15
I am very happy to have found this forum. After speaking with several doctors who all thought it was rice or food getting stuck in the back of my throat, I thought I was crazy. I have such deep pits that I have to push the stone out. I also only have them on the right side tonsil. I had cronic strep thoat as a kid and now have an autoimmune disease that affects my kidneys. The glands in my neck are always swollen and sore, but only on the right side, the same side of the affected tonsil. I feel that they might have caused my autoimmune disease and was wondering how many of you that have the stones also have autoimmune diseases. Of the people that do have both, have you had your tonsils removes, and if so did you notice if the removal effected you autoimmune disease?

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom chenson [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-16
In response to the question above about testing PH levels, I test my PH levels along with 9 other different levels due to my autoimmune disease that affects my kidneys. My Ph levels are always normal, every day and I still have very bad tonsil stones.

I also suffer from this problem and have done for years. Like most people on this forum have mentioned,
My doctor has not got a clue. I am convinced it is contagious as have passed it to my partner. Also my partner has had her tonsils out - she must have parts of tonsils left as mentioned previously.
I am determined to come up with a cure - I am currently studying a degree in chemistry and I will be trying to find out what is in these buggers first and work on from there.

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom leeah [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-17
I gotten these a couple times a year for a while now. I have pretty bad post nasal drip but thought it was just from food getting stuck. Now I work w/people with swallowing disorders and don't think thats the case anymore. I

Anyway, my dentist advised me to gargle a small cap size of hydrogen peroxide. Thought he was nuts but its worked for me. Already the tonsil stones are drying up and I can't feel them as much anymore and the bad breath is going away. And this is only the second day of using the hyrdogen peroxide. Thank God! because I'm so sick of picking at them and the bad breath they cause.

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom justmebyanyname [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-18
Ok, I need a few of you to help test the iodine theory.

I had decided that the iodine painting I was doing was a great total cure for PMS, but had little to do with my tonsil stones. But, I've now stopped the painting for almost three weeks and I can't believe how many stones I have growing back in my tonsils and the painful sore throat. I need to know if this is just me. I'm going to restart the painting again and see what happens next.

What appears to happen in me is that it doesn't make them go away, but it does seem to stop them from growing.

Howdy,
First time poster and am amazed at how many folks suffer from the tonsil stones.

Question: Has anyone ever had one dislodge from the tonsil and then attach to the adam's apple(guys) or near the windpipe area?

Last August i had one break free and it gagged me multiple times a day while it giggled up and down when i took a breath or spoke. After 2 weeks of this it moved a bit and didn't bother me again until last week. Now it feels like it's stuck on the left side of my adam's apple and driving me bonkers.

Anyone experience this before? After doing some investigating i see a community of our boys hanging out on my left tonsil. Doh.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Re: White Bumps In ThroatFrom justmebyanyname [Log on to view profile] on 2006-05-19
alamocity,

Usually, once they are dislodged you swallow them without even knowing it. But, you do have tonsils on your tongue. You may want to search for 'tonsil ring' to see the location of all your tonsils.

It sounds like you may need to drink more water if your mouth is that 'sticky'!

The current recommended gargling liquid is honey water(1 part cheap honey with 3 parts water) or salt water(I haven't found it to be that effective). I think gargling once the stone is dislodged is your best bet.

Now, I'm wondering after reading what you wrote if you mean that you also feel sometimes that you have something stuck in your throat as someone else asked once before. It's a tough to describe symptom but yes I've had that. But, the other person and I thought it was swollen thyroid gland. Which was what made me start thinking again about the iodine connection and iodine painting.

Good Luck!

Hey guys. Just like many other people on this board, I am glad to have found someone who actually understands what this is. I've been suffering with these for some time and for a little while I really thought there was some kind of deformity I had because these things are putrid. I have constant bad breath and I know they're assosciated to my allergies and sinuses (I have severe sinuses as I broke my nose in middle school and never got surgery on it, am allergic to all kinds of animals with dandur, all kinds of grass, dust, and cigarette smoke). Also, as a toddler my doctor told my mother that I would always suffer from post nasal drip. My tonsil stones arent bad enough to where I have to get my tonsils removed. I only sought this board after recently (maybe a week ago)I could sense one of these coming because I can taste the horrific taste in my mouth. I dont know how to get it out, but unlike some, my problem is not severe (it doesnt hurt and I doubt that I have a large buildup). I was wondering if someone could guide me on how to remove the ones that I have in my tonsils (step by step). Would be greatly appreciated.
