pilonidal help
hi, i have a few deep wounds in between my butt cheeks. they have been there for a while and don't have much pain, just discomfort. there is no lump and never was. just wounds that slowly get bigger. i went to the doctor and he gave me pills and cream and said it should go away. is there something i can try to take to heal the wounds or help the infection?joeshmo on 2006-09-19
This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
It would be useful when posting a case such as yours to indicate the name of the drugs that you were prescribed.
If your doctor gave you an antiseptic cream and possibly an antibiotic to treat the lesion, you should be OK in a few days.
This form of lesion is usually caused by an infection of the skin in the cleft between the cheeks due to some cause like accumulation of bacteria or even a fungus and the treatment will depend on the elimination of the source of the infection.
It is unfortunately the case that this problem may recur from time to time and you may like to know that I have had some success in preventing it from doing so with Arnica 6c taken in the wet dose. This remedy helps to increase the flow of blood throughout the body and thereby ensures that the tender skin in the cleft is able to withstand repeated cracking which can give rise to another round of infection.
Dose is 1 teaspoonful taken twice daily.
