Question for Dr. Joe De Livera

Greetings Joe, regarding the use of Arnica Montana for hair loss and the Arnica tincture and oil (either Olive or Coconut), would the mixture clog the pores on the scalp?

The reason I ask is because I've been thinking of using this remedy for my hair loss which is the result of my hypothyroidism (taking Homoepathic remedy for that too), but I have a dry scalp with red bumps and was hoping that the use of the Arnica/oil mixture wouldn't cause or aggravate any problems.

Also, is it more effective to use Coconut oil or Olive oil?

At the time I have some Coconut oil soft gels and was wondering if I can use those for the Arnica mixture.

Many thanks for your time Joe, I appreciate it!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I do not think that either oil will clog the hair follicles. These oils should mix with the natural hair oils and I believe that the admixture with Arnica Q should enable the remedy to penetrate into the follicles. I have used both Coconut and Olive and prefer the Olive as it seems to be helping my hair better. In a temperate climate this may be useful as coconut oil will solidify.

You mentioned about red bumps on a dry scalp and this does sound unusual.

PS I am not qualified to be a Dr.
Not that it matter though !

Thanks Joe!

The red bumps I was referring to is just a mild case of acne on the scalp which seems to be aggravated three days after washing my hair, in which the scalp also becomes dry and the hair very oily. I'm guessing it's the shampoo (most likely) or the hypothryroidism I have.

Because of this, should I use less of the Arnica Tincture/Olive oil mixture and how long should I massage it into the scalp and how long should it be left on?

Thanks again Joe!

Suggest you change your shampoo and only use Johnsons Baby shampoo which is easily the mildest available. It is also excellent as a deoderant and prevents under arm BO.

If you have dandruff this can be treated with other remedies but I believe that Arnica alone can help you taken internally and massaged into the roots for a few minutes. This should only be done when you do not have any lesions on the scalp to avoid infection. The ideal is to wash it off every other day when the oil is renewed immediately after.
