Therapeutic of hypertension.

ADRENALINUM.
This medicine has been used successfully by Drs. Jousset father and son, given in the 3d, 6th, and 12th centesimal dilutions in high arterial blood pressure and in arteriosclerosis. The most favorable results have been produced. Long use of Adrenalin can lead to arterial and aortic lesions. Not so when given in the strengths abovementioned. Roaring in the ears due to high blood pressure s often benefited by this remedy.

AMYL NITRATE.
Arteriosclerosis.palliative.

ARNICA MONTANA.

HYPERVENTILATION; ARTERIOSCLEROSIS (2); VARICOSE VEINS (3); APPENDICITIS (JTK)
This is a remedy of value in cerebral arteriosclerosis, vertigo of the aged, heaviness and cerebral affections, plethoric people who have a tendency to hemorrhages.

Arsenic iodide.

Arteriosclerosis, myocardial degeneration and senile heart. Threatened pyemia. [Pyrog.; Methyl. blue.]

AURUM MET.
Ateriosclerosis, high blood pressure; nightly paroxysms of pain behind sternum.

Profound despondency, with increased blood pressure, with thorough disgust of life, and thoughts of suicide.

High Blood Pressure - Valvular lesions of arterio-sclerotic nature (Aurum 30)

Latter potency especially for increased blood pressure.

AURUM MUR NAT.
Arteriosclerosis.Specific remedy.

BACILLINUM.
At the time of the introduction of the ever-memorable Koch's lymph, there were included under the head of poisonings by this drug vascular lesions, as I have mentioned above, acute arteritis, arteriosclerosis, changes in the vessels of the heart and the kidneys, and acute nephritis. Apropos of acute nephritis, the supposition was that the kidney became congested because of the presence in that part of certain tubercular islets, and that the kidney responded, like the tuberculous lung, under the influence of the Tuberculin, by acute congestion.

BARYTA ACETATE.

ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION (2) from ARTERIOSCLEROSIS

DEGENERATIVE CHANGES: in walls of arteries: atheroma (Cl), arteriosclerosis; pituitary insufficiency, hypothyroid

ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION (2) from ARTERIOSCLEROSIS
BARYTA CARB.

ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION (2) from ARTERIOSCLEROSIS

BARYTA MUR.
Hypertension and vascular degeneration.
This drug produces lesions of arteriosclerosis of the large blood vessels and aorta, similar to senile atheroma. It would be difficult to find a drug having closer resemblance to the phenomena of arteriosclerosis than Baryta muriatica. It has the headache (head pain) which is more or less severe, but which is rather a heaviness, worse at night when lying down. Dizziness of old people. Apoplexy or threatened apoplexy, with buzzing in the ears. It also corresponds well to pulmonary arteriosclerosis. It should be given for a long time. The strengths recommended are the 3, 6 and 30th. Dr. Askenstedt, of Louisville, Ky., has obtained excellent results with the remedy. Baryta carbonica is sometimes used, but we believe better results will follow the use of the muriate. It should not be forgotten in aortitis and especially aortic aneurysm. Here is our mainstay.

Arteriosclerosis and cerebral affections due to this condition.

Arteriosclerosis [Aurum; Secale] where a high systolic pressure with a comparatively low diastolic tension is attended by cerebral and cardiac symptoms.

Arteriosclerosis of the lung, thus in senile asthma, modifies the arterial tension.

BELLADONNA.
Some times in emergency reduces the blood pressure.

Cactus.
weakness of heart from arteriosclerosis (WB); fatty degeneration of heart (3)

CALCAREA FL.
Arteriosclerosis; threatened apoplexy.
in arteriosclerosis compare the iodides, especially of Baryta, Calc. and Plumbum,

CONIUM.
Arteriosclerosis

CRATAEGUS.
Chronic heart disease, with extreme weakness. Very feeble and irregular heart action. General anasarca. Very nervous, with pain in back of head and neck. Collapse of typhoid. Hemorrhage from bowels. Cold extremities, pallor; irregular pulse and breathing. Painful sensation of pressure in left side of chest below the clavicle. Dyspepsia and nervous prostration, with heart failure. In the beginning of heart mischief after rheumatism. Arteriosclerosis. Said to have a solvent power upon crustaceous and calcareous deposits in arteries.

ERGOTINUM.
Arteriosclerosis
In ergot poisoning the arterial walls are degenerated and stiffened, there is a spasmodic contraction of the vessels, the heart's action is increased and the coats of the vessels are hardened. In the beginning of arteriosclerosis when only the cardiac irritation and the hard heart sounds are present Ergotin 3x or 6x is the chief remedy. In more progressive forms with endarteritic processes in the heart and arteries of the head, the 2x and 1x triturations are to be preferred. A curative action is frequently had in these cases

GLONOINE.
Glonoinum acts upon the circulation where it causes violent pulsations,
ebullitions and irregular congestions. Blood rushes upwards.
Great lassitude, no inclination to work, extreme irritability, easily excited
by the slightest opposition, ending in congestive head symptoms
Headache in occiput or over eyes with vertigo, brain feels turning in a
circle. Headache from excessive alcohol. Bruised sensation of the
brain. Migraines. Frontal headache. Pressing pain on vertex, as if a nail
driven in. Frontal headache with desire to press the head against something.
Congestive headache, associated with hemorrhoids. Headache in the
sunshine. (Glon., Nat-c.) Feels distended and sore within after a
debauch. Scalp sensitive.

Passi. tincture 6 drops, six times a day, was given. The next period was
passed without a convulsion, but the patient had a violent headache as if the
top of the head would come off. This was rapidly controlled by Glon. 6c. The
three following period passed without any attack
Glonoinum acts upon the circulation where it causes violent pulsations,
ebullitions and irregular congestions. Blood rushes upwards.
Great lassitude, no inclination to work, extreme irritability, easily excited
by the slightest opposition, ending in congestive head symptoms. Itching all
over body with later acne and furuncle formation, also bulimia.

KALI CARB.
Hypertension, kidney problems, diabetes, anemia, hypercholesterolemia (AG); hypothyroidism (WB)

LAC CANINUM

HYPERTENSION (GV); HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA (GV)

LACTRODECTUS MAC.
When there is a sudden rise in the blood pressure in the arteries due to vasomotor spasm of the peripheral systemic arterioles and the heart walls are strong and well nourished, palpitation is evoked; when the coronary branches are involved in the vasomotor spasm then angina is produced and the heart walls, acutely distended with blood, can scarcely contract in the face of the opposition presented to their contraction by the high arterial tension.

MEDORRHINUM.
AIDS (AG),CANCER OF PROSTATE,HYPERVENTILATION,ULCERATED CERVIX,LABIA, FIBROID TUMOR OF UTERUS; STERILITY; CONDYLOMATA, female genitalia(WB), HOMOSEXUALITY, HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIA; HYPERTENSION,RAYNAUDS (TS, 2 cured cases), Reiter's disease, ASCITES (1)

NATRUM IODIDE.
Is useful in high arterial pressure in the 1x, especially in the beginning, and later in the 3x and 4x when the pulse is softer, arteriosclerosis with angina pectoris, vertigo and dyspnea. All the iodides are useful.

PLUMBUM ACETATE.
SCLEROTIC CONDITIONS: arteriosclerosis (2); hypertension (2); paralysis: bulbar (WB), extensors (3), wrist-drop (3), from center to periphery, beginning in the back, slowly developing paralysis of palate (2), tongue (3); tongue cannot be protruded (2); progressive muscular atrophy (WB)
Constrictive sensation in internal organs. Delirium, coma and convulsions. Hypertension and arteriosclerosis

PLUMBUM IODIDE.
Clinical. Arteriosclerosis. Atrophiae. Crusta lactea. Glands, enlarged. Paralysis. Pellagra. Scrofula. Spleen, enlargement of. Tonsils enlarged. Ulcers.

Characteristics. Plumb. iod. is used in old-school practice as an external application in cases of enlarged glands, chronic ulcers, and porrigo capitis. It has also been given internally for enlarged glands and chronic enlargement of the spleen. Hansen mentions 'arteriosclerosis; atrophiae; pellagra; paralyses' as conditions relieved by it. A combination of Plumb. and Iod. indications will be the chief guide.

PLUMBUM MET.
Hypertension and arteriosclerosis. It seems to suit rather the pre-sclerotic states than those of actual sclerosis, which latter are naturally unattackable by any drug. It has a cramp-like constriction of the peripheral arteries, a wiry pulse, and especially if the symptoms be associated with a chronic nephritis it is all the more indicated. Patient feels the pulse in the fingers. Slight motion causes fainting. Dr. Donner, of Stuttgart, says, 'I give Plumbum frequently in arteriosclerosis in the higher dilutions. I am no friend of high dilutions, but with this remedy I have seen wonderful results follow its use, especially in cases complicated with granular kidneys'. He use the 30th dilution. It suits the anemic, pale, emaciated patients with extreme weakness

SAROTHAMNUS SCOPARIUS.
Albuminuria. Cheyne-stokes respiration. Irregular heart following grip and various infections. Hypotension. used palliatively in physiological dosage to combat arterial hypertension, arteriosclerosis. Very useful hypodermically 1/10 to 1/4 grain in sustaining heart after stopping habit of Morphia. Spartium is indicated when primarily the muscles of the heart and especially the nervous apparatus is affected. Acts rapidly and lasts three to four days. Does not disturb digestion.

SECALE COR.
Ergotin. (Beginning arteriosclerosis progressing rather rapidly. Increased blood pressure : 2x trit. Edema, gangrene and purpura hemorrhagia : when Secale, though indicated, fails);

SERUM ANGUILLAE.
Secondarily, the liver and the heart are affected, and the alterations observed are those usually present in infectious diseases. From all these facts it is easy to infer, a priori, the therapeutical indications of the serum of the eel. Whenever the kidney becomes acutely affected, either from cold or infection or intoxication, and the attack is characterized by oliguria, anuria and albuminuria, we will find the eel's serum eminently efficacious to reestablish diuresis, and in rapidly arresting albuminuria. When during the course of heart-disease, the kidney, previously working well, should suddenly become affected and its function inhibited; and when besides we observe cardiac irregularities and a marked state of asystolia, we may yet expect good results from this serum. But to determine here the choice of this remedy is not an easy matter. While digitalis presents in its indications, the well-known symptomatic trilogy : arterial hypertension. oliguria and edema; the serum of the eel seems better adapted to cases of hypertension and oliguria, without edema. We should bear in mind that the elective action of the eel's serum is on the kidney, and I believe we can well assert that if digitalis is a cardiac, the eel's serum is a renal remedy. So far, at least, the clinical observations published seem to confirm this distinction. The serum of the eel has given very small results in attacks of asystolia; but it has been very efficacious in cardiac uremia. There, where digitalis is powerless, the serum of the eel has put an end to the renal obstruction and produced an abundant diuresis. But its really specific indication seems to be for acute nephritis. (Jousset)

STRONTIUM CARB.
Arteriosclerosis.One of the best remedy.

Compare : Arnica; Ruta; Sil.; Baryta c.; Carbo.; Stront. iodat. (arteriosclerosis)

High blood pressure with flushed face pulsating arteries, threatened apoplexy.

STROPHANTHUS HISPIDUS.
Arteriosclerosis
Senile arteriosclerosis, fatty degeneration, failing compensation, tendency to dropsical accumulations.
Arteriosclerosis; rigid arteries of aged.

SUMBLUS.

Tincture, to third potency. Dr. W. Mcgeorge advises the 2x every 3 hours for arteriosclerosis.

TABACUM.
Tabacum 3x has cured cases of angina pectoris in patients with arteriosclerosis. Especially useful in anginas caused by tobacco, also in the intermittent hearts of the aged. If organic disease of the heart be present as a cause of the angina, Cactus may be the remedy when the grasp of the 'iron hand' is present. Arnica has a sudden pain in the heart as if squeezed and pain in left arm and left chest. If the sore, bruised feeling be present the choice is easy. Another remedy to be thought of in tobacco heart.

Produces high tension and arteriosclerosis of the coronary arteries.

Occasionally, however, after long continued use hypertrophy results; fatty degeneration and arteriosclerosis though rare are sometimes evident.

URANIUM NITRICUM.

Is known to produce nephritis, diabetes, degeneration of the liver, high blood pressure and dropsy.Suitable for patients having Diabetes and hypertension combined..3x tablets are most suitable.

VERATRUM VIRIDE.

Also suitable for hypertension in low potency.3x to 6c.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Good work again Sajjad.

I note that you have listed Arnica but not indicated the potency. I have had remarkable success with controlling Hypertension with 30c in the wet dose taken 3 times daily for 2 weeks and twice daily therafter.

Arnica is also very effective for Diabetes and I shall look forward to your series on Diabetes in the near future.

Dear Sajjad Akram,
what do you think about the combination meds for hypertension/heart stimulation....Gold Drops and Viscum Pentarkan etc by well known companies.
These combos have many of the meds listed by you.

Any documented evidence of results.
thanks and regards,

Probably Dr Wadia M.B.B.S said”It is better to give a combination than a sigle wrong remedy”.Perhaps he is right.Actually there is a lot of difference between theory and practical. Most of the busy and successful homeopath are using ready to use combinations or their own preparations.

Patient needs relief. He is not concerned with single remedy or combination.

Now a days patients are so trained by allopath that they mention their suffering in term of disease name like ‘gout’ ulcer’ ‘hypertension’ ‘infection’ etc.

It is a fact that homeopathy is some of ‘I” and’MY’.My relate to organ or group of organs or a system.’I’ relate to his personality. His personal symptoms like desire and aversion, likeness and dislike ness about every think. Unfortunately they don’t care to tell and if you ask “what do you like” their answer will be I like every thing, or they would say we are so poor we don’t have any likeness or dislikeness. In absence of ‘I’ classical homeopathy is not possible or at least difficult.

If you are a busy practitioner, the proper case taking will be difficult especially in chronic diseases. It is a time consuming process and difficult indeed. Even if you are using computer software, again it is complicated because you have to convert patient suffering in repertory language, otherwise its response will be misguiding and the remedy selected will be wrong thence total waste of time. The simple case taking and repertorizing takes at least half an hour. That is why most of the homeopath are using combinations. It palliates or cure the patient is happy because his suffering is lessened.

I dare to say that the present popularity of homeopathy is due to these combinations, some one believe it or not.

I am not against the classical homeopathy of single remedy at time. Personally I am strongly in its favor and is my routine practice in almost all the cases.

Dear Pankaj Varma, you can afford the classical homeopathy if you have a sufficient time and it pays you back. As Henry Ford, the owner of Ford Motor Company once said’ IF YOU GIVE PUBLIC WHAT THE PUBLIC WANTS THEN PUBLIC WILL SHOWER MONEY ON YOU’.

Regards.

That is great Sajjad!!

I have been saying the same things like you are for many year.

In the Archives here you will see some of my posts where 'Bandarbabu-Murthy' and me held opposing views. He is a strong advocate of the single remedy prescribing...where as I belive that what provides relief to the patient is the best. Even if it is a bio-chemic combination (in absence of proper case-taking).

You are absolutely right...patient is not bothered which theory of homopathy the doctor used...he only knows and thanks when the medicine works for him.
Best wishes,
Pankaj Varma
