getting off effexor xr

Ive decided Ive had enough of taking these anti-depresents... The main reason why i wanna get off is simply because yesturday was Saturday and my pharmacie was closed and i couldent get to any other place to get my refill.. however.. today is day 2 of being off them and im feeling a little off.. i know im gonna get some dizziness here soon.. i can almost feel it already. Is it ok to get off without weening off first?
thanks

I feel bad for you Natty, I have been off of effexor xr since december, was hell getting off, gained 20 or so pounds, went on wellbutrin, gained on that too! Now I am on nothing, and stuck with a huge belly which looks disproportionate on my 5'2 frame! I found that when i started going off of effexor, I suffered terrible dizziness, nauseousness and body aches. The guy that I spoke to at the health food store told me to take fish oils to alleviate symptoms, also drink alot of water.I also wonder if those of us who cannot lose the weight still have it in our systems..sometimes I still have certain"symptoms" that i can only attribute to effexor.I exercise and eat small meals also and I can't lose a pound....this is extremely frustrating!

Hi Natty, iv been on these things ( SSRI ) for many years and what iv found out is you want to get off them very slowly. The longer you have been on them the longer to get off of them.Good luck Dave.

Whatever is your effexor dosage increase the timespan. If you have to take it after each 12 hours, next time take it after 13 hrs and gradually increase the timespan.

As you reach the stage where you can't increase the time then decrease the dosage by 5% after each two days. (by taling off some medicine from pill)

Also Belladonna 6C two pills twice a day would help a long way.
