Please advise with Lac Vaccinum Defloratum

I have been drinking raw milk for many years with out problem. However, a few months ago I had a pizza and ever since then I have had horrible health issues and cannot tolerate milk. I have done some research and have found the symptoms listed for Lac Vaccinum Defloratum to match my symptoms excellently. For example, very strong acidic taste in the mouth, sensation of plug in through, pressure in forehead, stubborn constipation, alternating between passing very hard large stools with pellet like stool with excessive straining, just everything on the list. Can someone recommend how to proceed, what dosage should I take and where can I buy this preparation as I have not been able to find it anywhere except from hyland in 30c and I read it was recommended at 1M dosage for someone with my issues. Thank you in advance for your advise.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
You may take Lac Def 30 twice a day for 3 days and see how that affects over 10 days.

kadwa 9 years ago
Could you list your symptoms (in your own words) and then mark each one you felt was covered by Lac-v-d.

It is important not to copy out the symptoms of the remedy, but your actual symptoms as you experience them.

Thank you kadwa. Do you have any experience with this remedy in particular? I am really suffeing and want to make sure the potency is the best one in my situation. I was reading about using wet doses and was wondering if a higher potency wouldnt be better to start with. Also, what do yiu suggest to do after 10 days, or if results happen sooner than 10 days, should i still proceed for 10 days? Thank you for your help.

Some of the symptoms i have read for this remedy are as if the words were taken out of my own mouth. I will just speak freely and explain without looking at the symptoms. Inability to pass gas at times as if a plug in colon, gas recurculates up intestines and makes gurgling sounds, feel pain pressure in abdomen joint pains, drinking herbal teas helps to release spasm in colon and eases passing of gas, stool difficult to pass, sometimes comes out in very hard small round pieces, at times it comes out very large hard and dry one big piece this is when most relief is felt. Sensation if extreme thirst that cannot. Easily be quenched, hot terbal tea or sparkling mineral water helps a little, cold milk seems to resolve feeling of thirst temporarily, desire to drink gallins of water, however if drink too much feel more bloated and urinate everything very quickly and do not experience true hydration. Lump or spasm in throat feels connected to spasm in upper abdomen, colon and pressure in middle of forehead, sensation similar to feeling of plug in throat. Diffuculty burping, feels like lump in throat blocks air from being released orally. Extremely acidic in mouth wake up with feeling of acid on teeth, teeth appear demineralized and dull and yellowed. Acidity in mouth increases after consumption of dairy, especially milk, feels conductive, as if putting 9 volt battery in mouth. I have no metal fillings or cavities just for extra information.

The symptoms that were the same as i have were lump in throat hard stools, acidic in mouth, stubborn constipation, pressure in forehead, great thirst for large quantities of water, frequent scanty urination, feels better when warmth is applied to abdomen,

I have used this remedy, so I know something about it.

Symptoms are given priority for deciding on a remedy on the basis of their important in the Hierarchy of symptoms. In least order of importance -> pathology - local - general - emotional - mental. Each symptom may be further differentiated as common (least important) or peculiar (most important).

These are the symptoms I looked at (given by you):

Sensation of a plug (general quality, found in several places, promoted to general, peculiar) - 206 remedies
Plug in rectum/bowel/colon - 34 remedies (local, peculiar)
Gurgling in bowels/intestines (local, common) - 246 remedies
Spasm in colon/intestine/bowels (local, common) - 246 remedies
Dry hard stool (general, peculiar) - 226 remedies
Unquenchable thirst (general)- 134 remedies
Milk ameliorates (affects a general-thirst-so elevated to a general symptom, peculiar) - 78 remedies
Cold milk ameliorates (as previous symptom, peculiar) - 7 remedies
Thirst for large quantities (general) - 160 remedies
Lump in throat (local) - 324 remedies
Spasm in throat (local) - 234 remedies
Sensation of blockage (appears in several locations, elevated from local to general) - 8 remedies
Acid taste in mouth (local) - 100 remedies
Stubborn/obstinate constipation (general, common) - 224 remedies

Based just on those symptoms, without understanding anything about the core state of the patient or the central disturbance (which is usually found in the mentals and emotionals), the remedies indicated (in order of the simple number of symptoms they show in their known pictures) are:

Lachesis
Bryonia
Nat-mur
Sulphur
Kali-bi
Phosphorous
Sepia
Veratrum album
Nux-vomica
Carbo-veg
Calc carb
Thjua
Croto-tig

We don't necessarily prescribe a remedy on the basis of the number of symptoms it displays that matches your, but we look at the quality of the symptoms (how peculiar or important they are).

An examination of the mental/emotional symptoms would probably lead specifically to a particular remedy I would imagine.

Lac-v-d only appears for 5 of those symptoms - Sensation of a plug (important for this remedy), dry hard stool, Lump in the throat, Thirst for large quantities, Obstinate constipation.

There are two cow's milk remedies - skimmed milk (lac-v-d) and whole milk (lac-v). Lac-v also shows for Amelioration from milk, and Acid taste in the mouth. One could reasonably add all the symptoms together to make 7 out of the 14.

What really interests me from that group, is that Croto-tig scores so highly - this is a small remedy and not as well known as the others. It is unusual to see a small remedy score so well in this kind of exercise.

Thank you! I looked up Croton-tig and don't see any similarities. Can you show me where to look? From just looking at abc homeopathy and the first few google results It seems to be indicated for diarrhea or copious and sudden stool, I have the opposite problem right now. It is also indicated for skin eruptions like eczema, which I don't have. It says feels better with warm milk--I feel thirst quenched with cold. I see issues indicated with genitalia, such as itching, which I also don't have. About the only thing that I saw similar was gurgling in abdomen--but perhaps i my case it is do to gas while here there is a lot of reference to diarrhea, so perhaps the causes are different. Let me explain why the lac vaccinum defloratum appealed to me. I had issues with digestion for many years and growing up and was advised to drink raw milk, which I did. For many years I saw my digestion improve. Prior to this I had dysbiosis, irritable bowel syndrome, and indigestion. After including raw milk into my diet these issues vanished. However, the acidity in my mouth started to become more prominent. However, I didn't pay too much attention to it. Later, when my digestion recovered enough, I began to incorporate all kinds of foods that I could not eat before, such as pizza. Pizza became a favorite of mine especially after having been so restricted in my diet for such a long time. I believe I never fully recovered and that I simply relapsed in a way that the milk was no longer helping me. While I am still better off now than I was initially, the acidity in my mouth became very pronounced and I realized there was some aspect of the milk that was never truly working for me, even though some aspects were at the time. So now I am dealing with more of the negative. This is why I thought that a milk remedy was appropriate because a lot of these issues happen to be related with milk consumption. Even now, when I tried a few homeopathic remedies the acidic taste in my mouth becomes very extreme and I attribute this to the lactose. Please take this into consideration and let me know if you still believe a remedy other than milk should be used. Thank you again!

Looking at these remedies so far and carbo-veg also stands out with symptoms that I notice I have as well. For example, CHRONIC CONDITIONS "Never well since...." of past illness
Bad effects from excess loss of fluids
weakness

DIGESTION Weak Digestion. Even simplest foods disagree & turn to gas,
Much sour belching
Regurgitation of food

Abdominal distention with cramping pains

Itching in throat

EAR Tinnitus

I will review all of the remedies and let you know what else matches.

Kemsui 9 years ago
Those remedies are indicated because the repertories, materia medicas, and various published case histories show they have cured or displayed the symptoms you described. I access over 200 books and journals to find these symptoms, so google won't be anywhere near as thorough.

Having Croto-tig show for so many of them alongside the polycrests is extremely unusual and this warrants giving it very serious consideration. On the other hand, I have no idea what important symptoms you may be missing in your own case, so take this with a grain of salt.

What you do not have that a remedy does have, is of no importance at all. If you tried to decide a remedy on that basis then nothing would ever match you, because no one person can have the thousands or tens of thousands of symptoms each remedy is capable of producing. You only need to find a remedy that matches your symptoms, not the other way around.

Symptoms are the only guide to a remedy. The symptoms must match, and the only symptoms that really matter are the peculiar ones, or the ones that affect the important levels of a person (general, mental, emotional). Your improvement from milk is interesting, but it is merely a symptom which can be found in many remedies, and it might imply you need one of the many milk remedies we have not just the Cow. We have Lion, Dog, Cat, Horse, Dolphin, and many others.

Milk in homoeopathy represents various things - love, nourishment, belonging, parent-child, and others. I would expect to find those issues in someone who actually needed a Milk remedy.

What is interesting is that i do well with sheeps milk and do not have these problems with all cow breeds, only the coventional breed type. Also, as i mentioned there has been a lot of benefit from milk in the past. Can you please give me an idea of what important symptoms i may be missing? I should include that i am allergic to man made chemicals like detergents and dish wash liquids, shampoos. I must use natural products or i experience spasming, worsening of a tmj condition from an injury, i have plenty of issues that may make it easier to narrow down to a remedy. I greatly appreciate your guidance as i have been seeking for solutions to various issues for a long time and though certain things worked for a time, they have not worked the same for a while. I would also very much appreciate any recommendations about books tht i could read to learn and understand more about homopathy. Thank you again for your help and time!

Kemsui 9 years ago
I would have to take your case to get an idea of what may or may not be missing. It is possible Lac-v or Lac-v-d could be indicated, but I would need to look at the whole case to work that out.

Did you want me to post one of my questionnaires for you? As a classical homoeopath I require a lot of information including emotional and mental aspects.

Evocationer 9 years ago
At the moment the severe gas and constipation is taking priority over all else and that is why I am focusing on the milk remedy. However, I would very much like your opinion and to share my experience in greater detail with you.

I have been experimenting with remedies on my own and have experienced a worsening of symptoms, so I really need help and guidance. There is a lot of information I have not mentioned that perhaps can help to tailor a better remedy or remedies.

Thank you, I appreciate your attention to my health situation very much.

I will do my best.

CASE PRESENTATION FOR CLASSICAL HOMOEOPATHIC PRESCRIBING

General Guidelines:

1. Try to be as descriptive as possible. When describing pains or sensations use descriptions along the lines of ‘feels as if someone is squeezing it with their hand’ or ‘it is like an insect crawling around inside’ or ‘it is as if someone is standing over me threatening to kill me’. Long descriptions are always better than short ones. One word answers are difficult to use successfully.

2. Another important part of symptom description for homoeopathy are the ‘modalities’. These are situations, events, activities or conditions which modify the symptom in some way. We usually refer to this as what makes them ‘better’ or ‘worse’ (amelioration/aggravation). The situation may actually provoke the symptom into appearing, make it vanish altogether, or just increase or decrease it in some way. Modalities are vital information for prescribing.

Modalities are typically related to (but not exclusively) the following situations:

A. Temperature, weather
B. Time (day, night, specific times, frequency, periodicity, season)
C. Position, activity
D. Emotions, thoughts
E. Food and drink
F. Drugs, medication

3. How the symptom is perceived is important too – odour, appearance, sound, touch. What colour is it, what is its texture? For gestures, describe what it looks like the patient is doing, or what you feel you are doing while making the movement eg. ‘they look like they are swatting flies’ or ‘I feel like something is pushing my hand upwards’ or ‘it is like I stick a fork in an electrical outlet which throws my body backwards’. Description – it is key to accurate prescriptions.

4. When did the symptom or set of symptoms start? The apparent cause can be useful in determining the remedy, although it is not of the same importance as the previous factors. It may have been a specific event, a disease, an accident or even an emotional experience.

5. Use your own words. Do not copy phrases or descriptions found in our various remedy pictures. Try not to use other people’s ideas or thoughts or words. If you are reporting on behalf of someone else, report their exact words, however you can also report your own observations of them (not opinions).

6. Does the symptom occur alongside another specific symptom? Do particular symptoms only occur together? Does a particular symptom occur with a particular thought or emotion? For example, a headache that always comes with visual disturbances, or stomach pain that appears alongside anger, or anxiety that makes you feel like running down the street screaming.

7. Each complaint should be described fully before going on to describe another complaint. Try not to mix different symptoms or complaints together. Each modifying feature must be clearly attached to a particular symptom/set of symptoms. Any mistake you make here is a mistake the homoeopath will also then make.

BEFORE MOVING ON TO THE NEXT SET OF QUESTIONS, DO THIS NOW FOR EACH PHYSICAL PROBLEM YOU HAVE. LOOK AT ANY POSSIBLE SYMPTOM YOU HAVE, NOT JUST THE ONE YOU ARE ASKING FOR HELP IN RESOLVING

MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL DESCRIPTION

(Please spend the most time on this section and give DETAILED answers - the homoeopathic remedy is very often decided on the basis of the mental and emotional state of the patient !)

1. What are the issues in your life that bother you the most. Not physical issues but mental or emotional ones. List each one separately and describe why each one bothers you so much.

2. What emotions are the most troublesome for you? What situations provoke these emotions. How do these emotions make you act? Do you feel any ill effects from expressing or not expressing these emotions.

3. What incidents in your life have had a deep impact on you? Describe each incident in detail and how they made you feel? What did you do in those situations? What effect have they had on your life?

4. What are you afraid of? Especially important are phobias, but it might be objects, situations or events that just produce a high level of anxiety. How do you manage your fears? How do you react when confronted with these fears? What would be the worst situation for you to be put in that would provoke these fears? You may need to talk about each fear/anxiety separately.

5. What hobbies do you have? Why do you like each of these activities?

6. Do you have any persistent thoughts, ideas or beliefs that are difficult to stop or cope with? What are they?

7. Do you have any unusual gestures or movements of the body? Do you feel any unusual sensation or pain throughout your body? What exactly does it feel like is happening in your body?

8. When you experience your fears, persistent thoughts, or difficult emotions, what kind of sensation or reactions do you get in your body?

9. When did you feel at your best in your life? What was that like for you? If you imagine the complete opposite of this feeling or moment, what would that be like?

10. Do you feel like you are stuck in a pattern of behavior, especially when trying to deal with your problems? What is this pattern? THIS IS AN IMPORTANT QUESTION PLEASE CONSIDER CAREFULLY AND GIVE DETAILS.

11. What difficulties or problems do you have in relationships? Talk about your family, your romantic relationships, your spouse or partner, your friends, and your work colleagues. You may need to talk about all of these separately.

12. List 5 positive things about yourself. Are there any situations where this positive attribute becomes negative (is a problem)?

13. List 5 negative things about yourself. Are there any situations where this negative attribute becomes positive (is useful)?

14. Do you have any reoccurring dreams? Describe them in detail, including any feelings that come while dreaming. Dreams are very important in unlocking the deepest truth of a patient’s case, but it is not enough to simply describe them in a sentence. Give as much information as you feel comfortable doing.

15. Did you have any reoccurring dreams as a child, or earlier in your life? Describe those in detail including any feelings that came with them.

16. What were you like as a child, your character, your personality, your fears, your dreams, your problems?

17. What kind of environment did you grow up in? What problems where there at home, with your family, with your parents, with your siblings, with school?

Thank you, I will do my best to answer. It will take me some time.

Hi, Just wanted to let you know I am still working on answering all of the questions. I have gone through most questions and a couple of the questions related to mental and emotional aspects. This is a very useful but difficult exercise. It is hard to explain things without having something to look at or refer to or prior experience with someone having explained or shared the same thing. I will probably need a few more days. Thank you again.

That's fine, take your time. The quality of your work actually improves the quality of mine :)

The most valuable information from you will be something that is purely individual, with no reference to anyone else having said, thought or expressed it before.

Hello Dr. Kempson, I have constructed a response--If possible I would like to continue privately via email/ May I email to the address listed in your user profile?

Thank you.

Kemsui 9 years ago
All treatment is done on the forum though. I need to post my suggestions here and you would be posting your progress and questions here as well.

Evocationer 9 years ago
Hi,

Since i've posted asking for help I have tried to seek out more private help and did not really find anyone who I felt could help me. I tried contacting you through your email and also did not receive a response. If it is not possible to receive assistance of a more private nature I would like to just get a general suggestion, rather than posting a thorough and detailed response to those many personal questions.

I am still having difficulty with elimination. I tried carbo vegetabilis 30c and it was helpful in the very beginning when I took it and I was finally alleviated of constipation for a very short while. But it stopped being effective for me very quickly and now doesn't seem to really do much to help me with this issue. Mag Phos 30c was also somewhat helpful in alleviating the pressure I feel in my throat and other areas around my abdomen, but does not really help to alleviate enough of it--as I still have the gas and constipation. This is the main issue I am dealing with and it presides over anything else and is really dominating my life and preventing me from enjoying all that life has to offer--so if you can please point me in the right direction with it I would be eternally grateful to you!!!

Kemsui 9 years ago
At this point, this is really an emergency. I am hardly able to function after suffering from constipation for so long. I have tried enemas as well and everything is limited in its scope because the problem has caused too much accumulation of waste in the intestines which is difficult to get rid of in just a couple of tries. Im having trouble with all systems now, swollen, tired, very tight and achy all stemming from the accumulation of waste.

Evocationer, I would like to try croto-tig your original suggestion. Can you please recommend a potency and schedule? I also would like to try the lactose, can you please recommend the homeopathic form?

Kemsui 9 years ago
It is against forum policy for us to be treating people who have posted on the forum privately. On the other hand, if you post the answers you don't want to be seen here, I could still use them to make a prescription, but we would need to do all the follow up here. I can try to avoid directly referring to those things you don't want to be seen publically.

I am not sure of the Croto-tig, I was just intrigued to see it showing up so strongly. However without a mental/emotional understanding of the case I don't know if it is well suited.

Evocationer 9 years ago
I never replied to your questions in the forum because I don't feel comfortable with that. I would also like to pay the person who is helping me for their time. Not because I have plenty of money and it doesn't matter, but because I think this is the right way to go about it. I want to know that I can rely on the person helping me and get regular feedback, without feeling like I might not be noticed among all the piles. I don't want that kind of stress, I want to have peace of mind that the professional I chose to help me, will devote time and work with me through all the difficulties. I don't feel that I can count on that posting in a public forum. And I don't want to do this publicly, I want to feel confident that my case is kept private. If this was a simple answer to my initial question, that would be ok, but your questions and requirement delve to deep for me to continue on here in this manner. I don't know if you are the right person to help me, but if do have something to offer, it would be a shame for you to reject my request based on a policy I did not subscribe to. I did not know that I would not be able to get simple advice or a simple answer to my question. I would have never posted anything otherwise.
