Update: Continuing as in the previous post. I've had a couple times in the last week where I thought I might be coming down with a cold because of some right ear fullness but nothing has really come of it other than sneezing and with a little white nasal discharge. Had a completely sleepless night of busy thinking on the night of day 5 and thought I would have a bad headache today but it was the just a mild one that went away after an hour or so. Usually I would have gotten a bad headache the following the first good sleep after losing sleep. I hope that makes sense. Today is the seventh day since starting the three day course.

Should I take another course of the Ignatia? Wait it out? Thank you.

Some symptoms are hard to assess as I haven't started my menses since taking Ignatia and many of my symptoms are cyclic around my menses.

Headaches - increased frequency by 50% - wake daily feeling headache-ish but goes away when I get busy, severity improved by 75% but worst headache is usually with period 2 weeks away. Right forehead remains sore to touch.

Ear blockage - new fullness in right ear for a couple of days when I thought I was getting a cold, have not driven up and down hills that cause pain since Ignatia

Urinary urgency - better by 50%

Unfinished sensation after urination - this should be unfinished after bowel movements - no change

Burping after eating - no change except for addition of burping when I get up in the morning

Sleepless before menses - first menses after Ignatia will be in about 2 weeks

Anger before menses - first menses after Ignatia will be in about 2 weeks

Clots in flow - first menses after Ignatia will be in about 2 weeks

Darkness of flow - better, took Ignatia at lingering end of an unusually long period and turned to pale pink, will know more with next menses

Cramps with flow - first menses after Ignatia will be in about 2 weeks

Night sweats - no change, usually worse before period in about 1 week

Waking too early - worse by 50%, almost daily though I do get back to sleep when I'm not working

Difficult falling asleep due to activity of mind - most nights better but a couple were worse, bad nights are always before work, generally usually worse before period in about 1 week

Avoiding anger - no change in avoiding in others, my own irritability is better by about 50%

Desire lemonade - lessened by about 50%, usually lessened in winter and weather is starting to change here, improved desire for fresh water but has to be fresh

Desire warm food - no change

Desire salty food - no change

Aversion to sympathy - no change

Forgetting to eat or go to the toilet - better by 25%

Tickling cough - tickling cough better after Nat M last January, now have loose, clear, easily raised phlegm when oropharynx fills, I think its from my sinuses not my chest, had a little tickling with cough in the last couple of weeks when I thought I was getting a cold but generally still the loose cough

Hawking up phlegm - no change

Chronic post-nasal drip - no change

General feeling of frustration - better by 50%

Lack of motivation - better at work, worse when I'm off due to fatigue

Guilt over past marriage - haven't thought about it much, when I do it's regret over what my kids went through more than about the relationship

Fear of spiders - better by 25%

Fear of falling - no change

Fear something happening to family - better by 50%

Crawling over the skin - no change except its been more on my scalp in my hair than all over my skin

General level of anxiety - better by 25%

Stubborn - no change

Sneaky about get things done how you want - no change

Also, give me a general idea of your overall sense of well-being, perhaps even with a percentage (if possible).

I would also add:

Craving for fresh air over a closed in environment.

Eyes sensitive to bright sunlight is worse by 50% - occurring daily instead of half the time.

- Good being busy. Have to be busy at work so it's good there. At home it's very hard to get going due to fatigue but once I do I feel better. Overall more fatigued by about 50%. Haven't woken feeling energetic in a while - worse by about 50%.

Remember couple of things not previously reported:

Passed out when I was 7-8 years old. Family at amusement park and everyone but my dad was going on the roller coaster ride. I passed out at the top of the first peak and didn't wake until the end. Didn't know it then but my dad also has fear of heights/falling.

Part of cervix removed in my twenties for carcinoma in situ/severe dysplasia.

Thank you!

Ok let me have a look at this.

Better:

Headache severity 75%
Urinary urgency 50%
Irritability 50%
Forgetting to eat or drink 25%
Frustration 50%
Fear of spiders 25%
Fear something will happen to family 50%
Anxiety 25%
Difficulty falling asleep - unspecified and not consistent
Guilt over past - unspecified

Worse:

Headache frequency 50%
Waking too early 50%
Sensitivity to light 50%
Fatigue 50%

A fair number of symptoms are unchanged OR we cannot tell at this point if there is improvement until the menses start or are about to start.

So there some significant positive changes. These have primarily been in the mental sphere. There are some significant aggravations too, although less than the improvements. These are all in the physical sphere, some general, some local (specific locations).

This shows me that Direction if Cure is correct - things are moving from inside out, from more important to less important.

While this is good, it seems to me the remedy has not had enough of an impact as yet. There are a variety of reasons for this. It could be an issue with dosage, potency, how precisely the remedy is 'similar' to you, or some kind of internal obstacle (pathology usually).

How close are you now to your next period?

Evocationer 9 years ago
Hey, sorry I didn't get back here sooner. I was watching for email notification but I must have missed it.

I'm about a week and a half from my next period if all goes as usual. This week is typically my best and I'm feeling pretty good both mentally and physically right now. Next week would be when irritability and sleep worsens. Then the headache comes with my period.

Would you like me to report back after my period comes?

homesteader 9 years ago
Ok that is promising - the PMS is better. Yes let me know how the period itself is once it is done. Don't repeat the remedy at this stage.

Evocationer 9 years ago
Sounds like a plan. Thanks.

Overall I think I'm better though some things have changed. Period came a few days late. Some things may be related to colder weather. It may be hard to put an objective number on some symptoms.

Headaches -
intensity - 75% better but changed. One very severe classic migraine mid-cycle, current dull headache is more frontal (above the eyebrows) than right-sided
frequency - 50% better, the migraine I had only lasted a day then I was headache free until after my period, since my period I've had a mild daily headache (about 5 days in a row) that I usually wake up with, gets better if I go outside in the fresh air and/or get physically busy. Unusual for headache to come after and not during my period.

Ear blockage - none acute with driving up and down hills, some mild intermittent earaches, either side

Urinary urgency - 100% worse in intensity and frequency, usually comes with a chill, I have to stand still and tense until it passes then I can make it to the bathroom. I think this is a winter thing for me.

Unfinished sensation after bowel movement - same, difficult to empty rectal pocket/rectocele

Burping after eating - 50% better, went through a week after taking the remedy where I was burping a large amount of air when I woke in the morning but that passed

Sleepless before menses - 25% better
Anger before menses - changed, better before menses now irritability increasing after menses
Clots in flow - 100% better
Darkness of flow - 100% better, bright red flow, profuse on third day then settled
Cramps with flow - back to minimal
Night sweats - not profuse as usual but almost every night
Waking too early - worse/changed, waking frequently throughout the night usually with backache but sometimes other causes, I have to change position frequently, backache occurring every night
Difficult falling asleep due to activity of mind - 90% better
Avoiding anger - 25% better
Desire lemonade - desire sour in general, foods with vinegar, citrus, cranberry as well as lemonade. This is a winter thing for me.
Desire warm food - no change
Desire salty food - no change
Aversion to sympathy - 25% better
Forgetting to eat or go to the toilet - 50% better, making a conscious effort
Tickling cough - resolved prior to taking Ignatia,
Hawking up phlegm - same, post-nasal and from chest, clear from nose, greenish grey or speckled from chest
Chronic post-nasal drip - 25% better, blowing nose more
General feeling of frustration - 75% better
Lack of motivation - 25% better, feeling fatigued and unrested gets me down more than anything but is better if I get outside and get moving
Guilt over past marriage - no guilt, wishing I could do more for my kids
Fear of spiders - 50% better? spider season is pretty much over
Fear of falling - same
Fear something happening to family - 25% better
Crawling over the skin - got worse now 75% better
General level of anxiety - 25% better
Stubborn - same
Sneaky about get things done how you want - 25% better

The low backache in bed is not completely new but much worse than it's been. It's usually a fall/winter thing. Occurs sleeping on my back and front and sometimes my side. Better for a while when I change positions but wakes me again an hour or two later. Stiff getting out of bed until I start moving around. 10-12 years ago was seeing a chiropractor for when my low back 'went out'. Settled down after that. I had a very severe case of poision ivy (head to toe) about 5-6 years ago. Poison ivy usually doesn't bother me but I unknowingly pulled up a bunch of roots that landscapers had left behind after cutting the top growth at a new residence. I took a couple doses of Rhus tox to see if it would help (it didn't) and it aggravated a severe low back pain and stiffness that I could not antidote (tried mint, coffee mouth rinse). Ended up resolving after acupuncture treatment weeks after poison ivy went away.

I had a cold sore come out at the end of my period but it never erupted, just a couple of blisters with stinging that dried up. I go years without getting cold sores and have never had a major problem with them.

Light sensitivity is a little better but still around and worse with headaches.

I have had some really good days with energy and productivity. Alot of it is about getting out in the fresh cool air. Staying inside where it's stuffy makes me feel more fatigued. When I'm trying to relax, or feel like I need to relax, I just get tired and/or grumpy.

I'm dreaming more since my last period. Can't remember details. A couple have involved babies. Usually disturbing in nature.

Ok I will have a close look at this and determine what has happened and how to proceed. It looks good on first glance though, a good start to treatment.

I was hoping to follow up on this.

Things were getting better for a couple of cycles: little irritability, two migraine-type headaches but were shortlived and no chronic persistent headaches as before; much easier to get to sleep. Periods were a little irregular, one early, one late. Also, a bit more open with my workmates.

My low back was worsening during this time, waking stiff and achy frequently and having to shift position.

Other symptoms that worsened: urgent urination after a chill, nipple/areola itching and stinging especially a couple weeks before my period. I've experienced this in the winter for about the last ten years (usually Jan - Feb).

Then a return of some symptoms over the course of a few days in this order: stiff neck in the morning, irritability, anxiety and sleeplessness that night, one-day severe migraine type headache in the morning, period the neck day. The irritability persisted and I repeated Ignatia. Irritability then went away again.

That was early December.

No period since late December.

Had a bad head cold few weeks ago (sneezing, coughing, sinus pressure, fevers, sweats, chills). Low back got really bad w/coughing and sneezing. Then woke up the day the fever broke and no backache, and haven't had one since.

No other remedies have been taken. I took astragulus herb at the end of my cold. I was really worn out.

Still no period. My nipples are driving me absolutely crazy.

No particular mental symptoms other than worrying (my kids, their health, my health, money). Maybe a little guilt that I haven't provided for them better as they start out as young adults.

I've reviewed my original list of symptoms and added new:

Headaches - 100% better
Ear blockage - 50% better, some acute pain during my cold
Burping after eating - 75% better
Difficult falling asleep due to activity of mind - 50% better
Forgetting to eat or go to the toilet - 75% better, listening to my bodies messages more
General feeling of frustration - 90% better
Guilt over past marriage - rarely think about it
Fear of spiders - no spiders to fear this time of year
Crawling over the skin - none
General level of anxiety - 75% better
Back problems that came after Ignatia and went away with my cold.

Worse or unchanged:

Urinary urgency - 75% worse
Unfinished sensation after bowel movement - the same
Sleepless before menses - no menses
Anger before menses - no significant anger, anger about how patients are treated at work but able to vent about it more
Clots in flow - no menses
Darkness of flow - no menses
Cramps with flow - no menses
Night sweats - 100% worse, almost nightly, hot profuse sweat followed by a chill, sometimes I can stop it by sticking a limb out of the covers
Waking too early - 75% worse, from sweats though, not anxiety or backache
Avoiding anger - same
Desire lemonade - 25% better
Desire warm food - same
Desire salty food - same
Aversion to sympathy - same
Hawking up phlegm - was better then came back after my cold. plus loose cough, grey/green phlegm
Chronic post-nasal drip - worse after my cold
Lack of motivation - same, from fatigue
Fear of falling - same
Fear something happening to family - same
Stubborn - I prefer to think of it as determined to make things work
Sneaky about get things done how you want - same

Additional:

Nipple/areola - itching and stinging, sebaceous glands (I've got quite a few) reddened, raised and rough

Breasts full and tender

Occasional pain to right armpit

I have had a history of repeated mastitis treated w/antibiotics when breastfeeding decades ago. That was the last time I took them.

I can't help but worry a bit about breast c!ance!r (seriously, I can't say that word?).

Fear of AMA style of healthcare.

Working many hours, helps with the money worries but leaves me fatigued. Woozy with fatigue at times. Worse standing in one place, being warm.

Generally like cool air on my face but I can also chill easy. It's like my internal temperature goes to extremes.

Waking between 3:30-4:30 in the morning. Can't get back to sleep on workdays. Can sleep for many hours more on off days. Rarely wake feeling refreshed.

Breast symptoms, fatigue and nightsweats are the the most bothersome.

Mental symptoms over all much better except for worrying.

Almost forgot, libido greatly decreased.

Thank you.

Ok good, this is a very thorough report. This will help me to determine how to proceed.

It has been a long time since the Ignatia though - I think I would prefer to get you to do another round of doses. It does seem like you got a significant aggravation though, so adjust the steps in this way:

Place only 2 drops into the water.
Use 200mls instead of 100mls.

Take two doses instead of 3.

I will still go through your report to make sure we are on the right path, but it looks good so far - improvement on the mental/emotional level is almost always a good sign.

Evocationer 9 years ago
I forgot to mention when I took the dose in December I only took it for one day. When I woke the next morning I could tell the irritability was gone and I didn't repeat.

So I took a dose of Ignatia on Thursday.

On Friday I awoke with a headache, same old sore bruised right-sided headache and the low backache had returned as well. It has persisted on and off for a few hours a day since then. Because there was a change I didn't repeat.

On Saturday I woke up very irritable. That has persisted as well.

My sleep has remained broken by sweats, as well as the backaches requiring position change and some anxiety has returned as well.

On Sunday I awoke from a very clear dream. I had to put my dog down because she had gone after the neighbors cows (she recently did try to play with them). I chose arsenic (I would never choose this method). Gave it to her in her food. Then decided I didn't want to do this and knew I had to find an antidote.

This got me thinking about when I was prescribed arsenicum decades ago for a mouth full of sores that had gone on for weeks. I was also having night sweats from fevers, waking early in the morning and suffering from great fatigue. I remember my tongue was quite swollen and bore the imprints of my teeth. I still have places on the sides of my tongue where my teeth imprint. When I took arsenicum then I remember feeling energized within a day and the remainder of the symptoms gone within a few days. This dream made me wonder if I needed to repeat the arsenicum, or maybe even one of its antidotes. I don't know if you put stake in this type of thing but I thought I would mention it. The last time I had such a clear dream was after taking nat mur out of desparation as its the only thing previous to the ignatia that has relieved my headaches, although just temporarily.

The last two nights I have dreamed again but these are more vague dreams about my kids.

Update:

Period came a couple of days ago. Started brownish and light, then went to red and heavy. Headache and backache worse. Sleeping only 1-2 hours at a time. Mental status terrible - irritable, impulsive and then guilty. Great fatigue.

Today, had pelvic cramping as bad as labor for about two hours - rocking, curling up on the ground, bearing down, groaning and grunting. Worst pain of my life. Took a couple of ibuprofen in desperation but probably threw most of them up. Pain eased after vomiting. Was able to get into a warm bath and that helped more. Thankfully my husband was there for me and didn't rush to call an ambulance which some people might have. I was able to ask him for help as well, which is unusual for me, and was thankful for that.

Cried for myself in the bath which clued me in that this might be a bad aggravation vs a change in condition or from taking the wrong remedy, which I was beginning to wonder since I've felt so bad in the last week.

Finally passed a large clot with white membrane which I'm guessing is the menstrua from the period I never had last month. Pain relieved now. Headache and backache also gone.

So I guess I'll see how things pan out for a few days. Just didn't want you to start working on this without a full report.

homesteader 9 years ago
Not what I was hoping for. I never really got the benefit from this dose as I did in the first couple of months. After the intense period I settled back to square one. Daily sore headache, light sensitivity, broken sleep w/night sweats, and the worst is the fatigue. Irritable. I'm into helping people and remain compassionate but can't stand meaningless chit chat and whining. Gritting my teeth alot, I think, now I have a loose and painful molar.
