No, stick to 200C till its producing a response. You can take it once in 15 days based on the intensity of your symptoms.

When 200C stops producing any response, you can jump to 1M potency once in a month or so.

Dear Dr. Rishimba
Wanted to inform you about the latest development.
According to your suggestion I took arnica 30c for 3 days. The pain at the base of the spine had started to recede. However at that time too the pain was not there when I was moving or standing but mainly when I sat or tried to get up, or lie down.

I had to Travel the last weekend during which I had walked quite a bit which was fine, but I experienced the pain after waking up on saturday morning. ( I slept on an extremely soft bed that night) The pain was a piercing pain every time I tried changing my posture and would recede once I settled in one position. Also this time I felt pain even when walking. Since I was in a town with no internet connectivity I could not reach out to you. My sister-in-law suggested to take Rhustox 200, which I did two doses, once in a day for the last two days. It seems to have helped and my condition has improved to some extent. Now again while walking there is no pain, but only when changing posture (sitting or lying down) i feel the pain.
Would you suggest I continue with Rhustox 200 or something else. Request you to please help.

Nainananjoy 9 years ago
Yes, if the pain is felt just when you are about to move or change position, RHUS TOX is the right remedy.

Continue RHUS TOX 200C twice a day for another 2 days only.

The greatest modality of RHUS TOX pain is that it reduces when you are moving continuously. It only starts again when you are just about to move again.

Great Doctor. Thanks will continue the same and let you know.

Dear Doctor
My pain has subsided to quite an extent. I am able to move around much easily also changing postures is comparatively better. The only concern that remains is the sensation of stiffness at the base of the spine due to which i am not able to sit for long and also not able to lean back while sitting.
Also since today morning i noticed that I have this cough like feeling with slight feverishness. Could it be because of this? Since I started Sepia, cold and cough had become a thing of the past. Now I don't want to get back to the same state.
Would be grateful for your advice.

If there is a pain or stiffness in your coccyx or the tail-bone area, there is a good exercise to cure it. Stretch your arms straight ahead of you and try to squat with your feet at least one feet apart. Repeat this exercise 15 x 3 everyday. It will hardly take five minutes.

You will not go back to the earlier state. If you feel you have some acute symptoms of cold and cough, treat it with homeopathy based on symptoms. Once you get over the acute symptoms, take SEPIA 1M one dose. Don't go back to anti-biotics for cough and cold in the first two weeks of its onset.

rishimba 9 years ago
Thank you so much. Will definitely try the exercise.
I honestly do not want to go back to allopathic medicines, I have suffered its side effects for long. that is why I reached out to you.
Right now I don't have cold, it's just feels like the first stage of cough with slight soreness in the throat and little irritation, also a feeling of feverishness though no temperature.
Could you suggest something based on my history.
I must thank u for your guidance and support, it's helped me a lot.

Nainananjoy 9 years ago
When you are just about feeling feverish and thinking you may have cold, you can take ACONITE 30C every two to three hours for two days maximum.

With the above there is a chance that cold will be nipped at the bud.

Thanks. Will do

Dear Doctor,
I tried the exercise mentioned by you. while it has helped to some extent and I can now bend down and walk more comfortably. However the pain does come when I try to sit or lie down. Hence sitting straight or leaning back hurts, however if i lean forward and sit, I can sit for comparitively longer period of time.
Would you suggest that i just continue with the exercises, or is there anything else I should take.
I also heard from someone about Calceria phos for backache...does it work?

Nainananjoy 9 years ago
Where exactly is the pain? Is it at the tip of the coccyx? Is it injured? Does it hurt on touch?

You can try Symphytum 30C every 4 to 6 hours for 2 days.

The pain is at the base of the spine. I don't think it is injured since I am able to walk around and even do the squatting exercise. would it be possible with an injury..?
Though till last week it did hurt on touching, now since the last 4 days it doesn't.

Now it hurts only when I sit on my back or lie down on my back or try to change my posture during lying down. Any posture in which i put pressure on the back hurts, though the pain is not so much 'piercing' pain that it was, now it feels more like a lump below which spreads the pain into the muscles of that region.

Hello Rishimba ji
My menstrual cycle started this morning. While it feels like the same, the colour is almost watery slight pinkish in colour...doesn't seem like blood. Though it has come on the right time. I don't know what to do
do you think i should get it checked with a gynec..?

I hope you know menstrual flow is not only blood but a mix of disintegrated tissue (inner lining of the uterus) that was formed anticipating conception. Its consistency may change with the day of flow. You may get the usual kind of flow on the 2nd or 3rd day.

Wait for a couple of days and then you can decide. I feel, if you don't feel any abnormal pains or other symptoms in the next few days, it's not a matter of concern.

But, its your call after all.

rishimba 9 years ago
Thank you so much for the information. My menstrual flow is going perfectly fine now. Its just that it was the first time i had noticed such a thing happen for the full first day and was concerned.

Also, to share with you, I had been taking Rhus Tox the last week, and the pain at the base of the spine has come down substantially, though a little bit still makes its presence felt when i am sitting. So, just to be sure today I also went to an orthopedic specialist. the X-ray shows the spine and tail bone is perfectly normal, however there is some amount of stiffness in the adjoining muscles which was observable as a light shadow. the doctor suggested a few exercises and lukewarm sit baths. He suggested a pain killer in case the pain is unbearable, which i refused, since my pain is quite tolerable.

You know d best thing was when I told d doc that I took homeopathy medicine after d fall he seemed positive about it. It's nice to come across such doctors!!

Nainananjoy 9 years ago
Good to know that some doctors are not as indifferent or rather averse to homeopathy, we used to have earlier.

You see, the truth will always come out sooner or later however hard these doctors suppress it by their biased approach. Lancet publication was not based on thorough and unbiased experimental results. The inferences drawn from the experiments were superficial. I hope nano-technology would provide an insight on why and how homeopathy works even in high potencies.

I too hope that people begin to understand the need for holistic healing and not just focus on 'medicines'. :)

Hello Rishimbaji
Hope you are doing good.
M doing great.
I am writing this post to seek help for my brother.
He is a 40 year old male and has been identified with 'border-line intelligence'. He was earlier considered by psychologists a mild mentally retarded person, but after more detailed check-up at NIMHANS bangalore, he was identified with borderline intelligence disorder.
While he looks like an average man, when someone talks to him it is possible to understand the mental handicap due to lack of social skills.
The reason I am writing about him is that he seems to have a lot of anger which comes out by talking to self when he is alone. Sometimes when he is very angry, he tends to talk to himself, even when there are people around him.
While he doesn't physically abuse anyone, when angry he tends to shout at others. He lives with me and my husband, and as I have already mentioned that we have no parents or relatives.
As a child he was bullied a lot by my parents and his classmates and teachers and he still carries the hurt.
Don't know if you have heard or seen 'taare zameen par' but his story is somewhat similar.
Now he is working in a school for the visually challenged as an office assistant.
He is sometimes extremely peacful and happy. He loves travelling with us and has a hobby of photography.
Before my marriage, me and my father had taken him to a psychiatrist who had put him on a medicine to suppress his anger which worked only temporarily, but stopped working after sometime. Thankfully after my marriage, my husband has been extremely caring and so we took him to NIMHANS in bangalore, where after detailed check-up the doctors asked us to stop the medication as they felt there was no need for it, and started with counselling. All went well for smetime, and they said that he is fine and while the intelligence and social skills will remain same they taught him and us a few techniques to help work with the anger. though we do try to work with him, I can feel that he is unwilling to share his feelings which cause the distress and anger. The lady who was helping the counselling has moved out of NIMHANS and hence is unavailable.
Can homeopathy help in this case? If yes, could you please help.
I have filled up the list of questions which you had sent me in the beginning, to the best of my knowledge and ability.
Would you suggest that i start a different post for this, though I would want you only to help me.

Patient ID:
Sex: male
Age: 40
Nature of work: Works as an office assistant work includes watering plants
Habits: Mild mentally retarded person identified as a case with “borderline intelligence”. Social and behavioural skills are poor.

Please answer the following questions in a descriptive manner after careful analysis and recollection of previous experience and happenings.

1. Describe your main suffering? State the correct location.
Suffering is mainly emotional in nature, tends to speak to self loudly. Releases anger in such mental dialogues with others, with whom he can’t do it in reality. Keeps brooding about the past. Tends to get angry easily. Due to so much mental strain also complains of headache on top of head at times.

2. What other physical sufferings do you have in your body?
Cough since the last three weeks. The cough is mild, occurs typically in the morning and evenings and not during the night. Sputum comes out while coughing.

3. What mental sufferings / feelings do you have associated with your physical sufferings?
Deep emotional pain about being dependent on others (sister and brother-in-law) for life. Not being able to fulfill his desires in life. Not having enough money to buy what he wants. He has mentioned this multiple times in the discussion with the counsellor at NIMHANS.

4. What exactly do you feel when you are at your worst? Describe the sensation in your own words.
When somebody asks him to do something he doesn’t like to do such as clean his room, or he is asked to follow directions/rule without being explained the logic behind it. Example, when we asked him to have minimum 2 liters water every day, he got very angry as he wanted proof of why he should do it.

5. When did it all start? Can you connect it to any past event or disease?
These behavioural issues have been there since childhood. Am told that my mother had a forcep delivery, where certain wrong handling by the doctors led to it, don’t know more than that. As a kid he used to wear crutches on both legs as they were weak, thankfully due to my parents continued efforts by the age of 5 he was able to walk on his own.
As a child he was weak in studies and failed multiple times in the school due to which he had to discontinue studies. While he can now read and write, reading comprehension is weak and he has poor numerical ability. If you ask him how many people can travel in a bus, he’ll say hundreds. Finds it difficult to manage money matters.

6. Which time of the day you are worst?
Though talking to self continues throughout the day, it typically worsens at night, when he is alone in his room and broods not only about the events of the day but also the past events and keeps talking to himself loudly in the mental drama. All of this keeps him awake till late in the night.

7. What are the things that aggravate your suffering and those that ameliorate the same? Example: time, temperature, pressure, rubbing, washing, eating, tight clothing etc.
During bathroom time too it is more prominent. Typically whenever he is alone.
Is much better when all of us are together and watching a movie or we are generally cracking jokes. He feels much better when he is able to spend time with my husband. Loves him a lot.

8. Do you think your sufferings have relation to any external stimuli (like, change of place) or any internal biological changes in the body, like, menses (in females)?
Don’t know

9. When do you feel better, during hot weather or cold weather, humid or dry weather?
Don’t know

10. Describe your general mental set up? Are you Moody, Arrogant, Mild, Agreeable Changeable, Nervous, Suspicious, Easily offended, Quiet, Arguing, Irritating, Lazy etc.
While he is Moody and tends to get angry when things don’t go according to his expectation, he is also extremely peaceful at times, typically when he is doing his pooja, or clicking pictures.
He is nervous and suspicious about people around him and does not trust easily
Argues a lot till he is convinced with logic.
Lazy towards personal hygiene, I have to regularly pester him to ensure he brushes his teeth, takes proper bath and changes clothes regularly. He keeps his room also messed up. Likes to collect things which are considered trash such as thrown away bus tickets, pamphlets, icecream sticks etc.

- How do you feel before or during a thunderstorm?
Don’t know

- Do you like being consoled during your tough times?
No, but talking by explaining logic helps

- Are you sensitive to external stimuli like smell, noise, light etc?
no

- Do you have any typical habit or gesture like nail biting, causeless Weeping, talking to one self etc?
Talking to self loudly, even in presence of others
Gazes in a way which makes you think, he is looking beyond
Doesn’t meet the eye while talking
While talking, Keeps shaking his head in a peculiar manner

- How do you feel about your friends, family, your children and especially your husband / wife?
Loved his mother a lot. With father had a bittersweet relationship. Was bullied a lot by father and still carries the hurt and pain, though also seemed concerned about father’s health. Considers their move to my place as the reason for father’s death.

11. What are your fears and do you dream of any situation repeatedly?
From the talk I have heard, his major concerns seem to be being bullied, being shouted at, being told by others what to do or not

12. What do you crave in food items and what are your aversions?
Hates ‘ladies finger’, chilli, Has a general dislike for deep fried foods and chicken/ mutton. Can eat fish once in a while tough not in the next few days after having once.
Likes simple food. Loves rice-dal and curd rice. In fact once in a buffet, he had mainly curd rice. Also likes papad(roasted or fried) and chips.

13. How is your thirst: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Less, has to be reminded continuously to drink water regularly.

14. How is your hunger: Less, Normal or Excessive?
Normal

15. Is there any kind of food which your body can’t stand?
Very spicy and oily or deep fried food

16. Is your sweat normal or less or more? Where does it sweat more: Head, Trunk or Limbs?
More and with an extremely foul odour. Mainly around the armpits and the back.

17. How is your bowel movement and stool type?
Normal

18. How well do you sleep? Do you have a particular posture of sleeping?
Sleep is disturbed. Not able to sleep till late in the night and hence tends to doze off during day time.

19. Do you think you are able to satisfy your sexual desires in general?
Don’t know

20. Do you have any strange, peculiar or unusual symptom or feelings? How are you different from others?
Extremely regular with his habits. While it is difficult to get him into a habit pattern, but once developed, is extremely regular.
Seems to have deep faith in the divine. Even though he talks to self and gets angry easily, still his anger subsides easily and can forgive people once they show repentance or explain the reason for their behaviour. Tends to read hanuman chalisa at night before going to bed. Changes clothes for the pooja and meditates for 20 min after that, which is a very old habit and while meditating is extremely peaceful.

21. What medications have been taken earlier by you to treat the diseases and do you have any particular symptom surfacing after the medication?
Zosert was advised by the psychiatrist. While initially for some time it did suppress his anger, it made him more agitated easily. When taking medicine, he used to sleep for long hours, but later it led to sleeplessness.

22. What major diseases are running in your family?
Father died of complications after hyperkalemia, also he had renal problems. He suffered from hypertension. Mother had low-bp, mother’s side of the family many persons had diabetes.
Thankfully both of us have neither.

23. Describe, how do you look like? Describe your overall appearance.
Generally not particular about looks. Sometimes doesn’t comb his hair. Shaves only once in 2-3 days, that too prefers to keep some parts of faces unshaven. Likes to keep moustache, but doesn’t keep it clean so is not allowed to.

(For Females)
24. If your menstrual cycles are not normal, please describe the irregularities, like pains, moods, flow type, clots etc.

25. What major diseases have you had in your life and when. Please write them in a chronological manner.
As a child had chicken pox at the age of 8-9.
Was always sickly. Was extremely thin till the age of 34. Also had a lot of emotional problems and was introverted, after moving in with us, slowly he opened up and his health too improved. He has put on weight and looks much fit. Has extremely good stamina though continues to suffer from cold and cough regularly. With cold weather combined with rain, he tends to catch cold and cough which persists for long.

Have seen this post. We don't lose anything trying out homeopathic remedies on your brother. Homeopathy will not harm him if administered prudently.

I will come back to you once I read both of your posts.

Have faith in homeopathy.

rishimba 9 years ago
Thank you so much for the response.
I do have faith in homeopathy that's the reason I reached out.
While we have learnt to accept and love him the way he is. We do want him to be more peaceful and his social acceptance in his workplace may improve if his anger and tendency to talk loudly to self reduces.
