Gerd...Candida Overgrowth?

My son has Gerd, which causes his voice to be hoarse. He has been taking Nat Phos, which seems to be helping but he's been taking it for over a week now and his voice is still not back.

He is 3 1/2 and has had to take antibiotics numerous times for ear infections (I didn't realize how bad they really are until now).

I've researched that candida overgrowth can be the cause of GERD sometimes, and something makes me think this is what happened to him due to the antibiotics.

My question is, is there any homeopathy remedy that can help get rid of a candida overgrowth?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
All people after antibiotics need to take probiotics to
replenish the gut flora. My hmo mds tell everyone this.
You can go to whole foods and get a childrens probiotic,
a good one is Garden of Life- for kids, you can also find this
online. At the same time, you can be giving him natural yogurt
once a day, but the strains of probiotics are more varied in
the kids probiotic and you need those strains. Be aware
that not every brand works with everyone, so switch if you
find he says his stomach bothers him or he has gas. You need
to do this every day for up to 3 months.

The candida are in everyones gut, the right flora keeps them
under control so you have to replace the flora. A homeopathic
remedy is not going to replace the flora. He also has to stay
off of sweets and high glycemic carbs and be eating more
of just protein and vegetables bc the candida live on sugar.

has he been to the dr. to check his throat and tonsils and
ears? I would do that first to rule out any infections going on.
He can get prescribed on here for whatever it is after
you find out.

I give him a probiotic, but I empty a pill into his yogurt (activia is the only kind he will eat). He won't swallow a pill. I wasn't sure if the good bacteria were making it past his stomach acid by doing this.

He has not been to an ENT yet. That is the next step, but I am afraid because they just keep throwing medicine at me. I know it is acid reflux because the medicine (axid) he was taking worked in the very beginning and his voice was 95% back. Then it just started to regress. He gets ear infections frequently, which is another symptom of GERD.

I've started to think candida overgrowth may be causing it, because before we started medicine for 2nd time, he was on a round of antibiotics for 7 days due to a cellulitis/sinusitis. We immediately started axid after and his voice was completely back to normal in 3 days...then regressed.

I believe the antibiotic killed the candida, combined with the axid brought his voice back. However, it just slowly started to grow back again.

I will look for that specific brand of probiotic, and hopefully combined with the nat phos, I can help his body heal naturally.

Hi- Antibiotics do not kill candida, They kill the gut flora.
To Kill Candida they prescribe a version of something called
diflucan, but that is very hard on the liver and they don't like to do that.

Homeopathy is prescribed on symptoms and matching symptoms, a visit
to the ent at least is going to give you some facts about what is going
on that you may not know. You don't have to take the meds, I just
want to be sure what the facts are so that everything is included
when an overall remedy for him is prescribed bc he needs an overall
remedy to boost him up.

btw is he in daycare or some group type play group at all? That is a big
factor in frequent colds, ear infections, and then antibiotics and
then acid reflux and on and on.

Hi,

I haven't taken to the ent yet, because I'm afraid they are going to have to put him out to examine his vocal cords/larynx/etc. He does not let people put things in his mouth and I just wanted to try all the natural routes before I put him through such intense testing.

He just started preschool last week, but has only been one day so far, and has never been in daycare.

His pediatrician said that his frequent ear infections may have been a result of his GERD, for some reason it can cause them.

A few months back he was on penicillin for another ear infection and he had a major allergic reaction to it. He had these hives all over his body and his joints began to swell. It was very scary, and he had to put on antihistamine and steroid.

I vowed at that point that I would always try to take the natural route to things if possible.

Anyways, after that incident is when I noticed the voice really start to change/become slightly hoarse, but his sleep has been disturbed for months. Which is another symptom of the GERD

Oh forgot to ask, you say antibiotics don't kill candida, but aren't candida a form of bacteria? Why would it not kill them along with good bacteria?

Candida is a FUNGAL organism that is part of our digestive tract
micro flora. When antibiotics are taken they Kill gut flora-so antibiotics
wipe out the micro flora that controls the Candida fungus and the
result is there is nothing to stop the candida from overgrowth.
That is why you do probiotics bc even if you get medicine for thrush,
yeast infections, etc- if you do not replace the gut flora as soon
as the medicine is over the yeast will go out of control again unless
the balance is put back with the other flora.

In future all you have to do is google your questions.
