pain after dental crown
I am 58 year old healthy female. On Oct 3 I had a porcelain dental crown placed over the 2nd molar, lower right side. This tooth previously had a large filling due to a cracked tooth 8 years ago. One year ago that filling cracked and the filling replaced. A decision was made to permanently crown the tooth to prevent further weakening and to keep what was left of the tooth intact.
Since Oct 3 the tooth beneath the crown feels sore, like an ache. There is sharp pain when biting down and when chewing. Sometimes, the pain flares suddenly, usually in the evening. Other times, the pain ismore like a constant ache.
The gums on either side of the tooth are sore.
Clenching and holding my teeth together relieves all symptoms.
On Oct 30, 31 I had no symptoms and thought the problem was resolved.
On Nov 1 and 2, the symptoms returned, constant nearly 24 hours a day without relief.
New symptoms now include muscle tightness in the right jaw joint, stabbing right temple ache, ache in the right ear.
The dentist has twice checked the bite on Oct 10 and OCt 24 and once made an adjustment.
The tooth is sensitive to hot, cold, sweet foods. What feels good is external moist heat on my face/jaw joint. I have no desire to drink water and I am not thirsty.
I have taken a wet solution of Arnica 30c without improvement or relief.
I have taken 800mg Motrin up to 3x/day to relieve the inflammation with only some improvement.
I appreciate hearing from you with further questions and guidance. thank you
