The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Why does the universe exist?

For about 20 years I have been troubled by very difficult philosophical questions of life and death. Biggest question is 'Why does the universe exist?'. I also have the thought that 'what's the point in working towards anything because once you create a moment of joy, that moment will pass'. Thus am not able to look forward to anything. I am not able to consciously plan for anything in life.

I have been living with episodes (lasting days, weeks, months) of chronic fear, anxiety, ptsd, lack of interest in life, helplessness in the face of unanswerable questions of life and the existence of the universe, god etc, inability to think positively.

I have previously been diagnosed with OCD as well for which I was taking Citalopram for about a decade. recently stopped taking it gradually.

These mental tensions and stresses have affected my physical health as well leading to blood surges in the brain, tightness in chest around the heart, headaches at times.

Yes getting sleep has also been a problem at times though Anacardia helped with that.

I am getting the help of a homeopath, but I also wanted to tap this larger forum to see if anyone has suggestions.

The key remedies I have been advised and I have been taking for the last 3 weeks are:
Kali Phos
Anacardia
Igantia
Picric Acid
Ferrum Phos
Cantharis

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
What kind of homeopath is this? Is
this a Naturopath doing homeopathy?

This is way too many remedies.

Not all remedies are being taken together. We are in the process of trying out which ones work. Kali Phos, Anacardia are the ones I am taking most regularly. The others I have only tried on a few days.

Are you wanting to get other prescriptions from people, both qualified and not, here?

Is your homoeopath ok with that?

Hi- again is this person practicing
homeopathy ONLY?

Hi Simone, Brisbanehomeopath -

My homeopath is a retired Chemistry professor and now only practices homeopathy. I am sharing my situation in order to get tips from others who may recognize some of my symptoms. Based on what I learn, I would definitely speak with my doctor to see if/how we can include any of the promising remedies in my prescriptions.

How long has this person been practicing?

The recommendations are to find someone well trained in just homeopathy
and that they have practiced for at least
5 years and have had a number of
cured cases of problems similar to
yours.

You want to get better fast and go to
someone who is confident and successful
with their practice.

This sounds odd . Even if you got
a second opinion on here which
would mean someone going over
your case and taking time to do it-
they give each remedy at least 15 days
or sometimes 3 or more if it is a
severe problem-acute.

I think you have to get another
homeopath, or use this site, but
one person has to run the case.

It's true some people do respond that quickly. The vital, energetic, healthier people, and children are often like that too.

However it is not always clear if the remedy 'worked'. What does worked mean? Cure, palliation, improvement, the start of cure? Certainly you cannot tell if a remedy is curative in a chronic case in 5 days - no way, not for anyone. Two of the defining features of cure in homoeopathy is stability and longevity. 5 days simply is not enough.

You might see hints though - direction of cure might be promising, old symptoms returning might also give some hope, dreams might change, signficant behaviour patterns might suddenly alter. These can only be hints though until cure is confirmed (by being stable, by lasting a long time).

So really I wonder what this homoeopath considered 'worked'?

I also agree, too many remedies have been prescribed in too short a period of time. Is this retired professor actually trained in homoeopathy (as a separate degree from his chemistry one)?

Pointless philosophical thoughts come under the circle of Sulfur.

Hi

Well I used to have questions like this myself and that everything is pointless because in the end I won't be happy.

So if I WERE a homeopath I would think nat mur would be good to try for you maybe. SInce you mentioned the issue of the joy not lasting. If I remember correct nat mur are people like that, who don't think they can be happy.

But I could be wrong.

I thought sulphur, nat mur are the most likely possibilities here because of the 2 things from your post I have taken out, but thinking nat mur is the better choice if the issue with 'joy' you have is the main problem

Thanks everyone for your responses so far.

This chemistry professor has been practicing homeopathy for over 20 years and has some amazing cases to his credit, including reviving a person who had been given up for dead. He is a close family friend and I have very high confidence in him. He is a self taught homeopath which is not so uncommon in India.

I basically listed the various remedies that we have discussed and we have primarily used Kali Phos, Anacardia and Ignatia for now. I just started Picric Acid a couple of days back.

I have also previously benefitted from Nat-Mur and Belladonna when I was dealing with blood surges in the brain brought on by latent stress apparently.

My own layman research points me towards Sulphur too at this point. Other tips from folks who may see something jump at them from what I have shared so far, could mean a solution that my doctor hasnt yet thought of... which is the primary reason why I came to this forum to see if I could be surprised by anyone who has dealt with a similar situation.

Yes yes Almost. You are on Nat-mur at the moment so everyone is Nat-mur. You were saying the same thing when you were on Platina. That is worrying to see you projecting outwards like that again. I hoped you were getting better on that remedy because you had become so quiet. Perhaps you are just proving the introversion of Nat-mur now.

Philisophizing is not only Sulphur although it is certainly a strong feature of that remedy. I have seen rather alot of Sulphurs who never expressed it, and I have seen a lot of hopeless philosophizers who needed other remedies. It is also a natural human activity, I do it every day.

What is disease is the unhappiness that comes from it. That would most likely lead to the right remedy, since asking the question itself is quite common and not necessarily a symptom of something more sinister (unless is is considered obsessive, which moves it away from the philosophizing rubric anyway). The effect it has on you - that is definitely the problem. When I consider that question it fills me with wonder or curiousity or even awe, but here the disfunction happens and instead nothing has any meaning. It is a strange illogical break that is the hallmark of disease - here is the the first thing that will lead to the remedy.

It is always important to understand what is actually disease in a case, and not assume that everything a patient says, does or thinks must become a rubric. This leads to chaos and disorder.

You need Sulfur dear. All other remedies that are not working right now will also start working after taking Sulfur. Do you feel heat also in palms, top of the head & in feet?

AsadGhumman last decade
Nobody knows for sure if he needs sulphur. There is hardly any case here. You are asking the confirmation questions after deciding he is Sulphur but before he has answered them.

The real question is philosophizing a disease here? Does it need to be cured, or does the reaction to it need to be cured?

Brisbane,

Thank you for your thoughtful analysis. I agree that the problem is 'why do I respond with almost-obsessive fear, anxiety, hopelessness, feeling of meaninglessness of the whole game of existence of me and the the whole universe'. Why does everything I think or do even if it is pleasurable, become a source of unhappiness the moment I recognize that it is giving me pleasure. It seems I am always sitting in judgement of the whole universe and principles of life. I know that I would be happier if I could respond with simple, awe, curiosity, energy, enthusiasm to the routine as well as the larger mysteries of life.

I am not taking Nat-Mur or Belladona right now. That was prescribed by a different doctor 2 months ago and it worked for the blood rushes. I had to changed doctors because I had an emergency and this doctor was on vacation. The emergency was basically a build up of fears that one night culminated in the irrational feeling that 'what if I dont get slee'... and so indeed I had a hard time falling asleep.

Right now I feel boxed in by own thoughts that are preventing me from actively planning simple and larger things of daily living and long term planning... and I do need to make a lot of long term decisions that I just dont feel up to making right now, not knowing if I will be able to resolve my health issues or if I will become a vegetable like I once ending up being about 14 years ago. And the fears that go with them are of 'how will I live my live, operate on a daily basis when my parents are no longer there to help me'

I am overweight and I do get a lot of sweat. Here are some other symptoms I have noted over the last 2 months, some of which have improved:

1. Grinding Teeth (reduced now)
2. Clenched fists, tensed up leg and neck muscles (reduced now)
3. Sleeping late
4. Irregular food timings
5. Catch cold 2-3 times a year.
6. Acidity normally in lying position only and when facing left
7. For years, easily used to get headache
8. Ears become hot and red very easily
9. Want to sleep on a cool pillow.
10. Want sheets to be cool especially near the feet and touching the arms
11. Love to feel cool air in the head
12. When its very cold, nose freezes
13. Taking in cold air causes discomfort and always leads to a cold/flu like symptoms. Starts with roughness and wooden feeling in throat
14. Cant stand the bright sun. Bright sun can cause headache. I always want it to be cloudy and overcast or raining.
15. Don’t like day light. Like darkness
16. Frozen items hitting teeth cause headache
17. Alcohol causes burning sensation. So never got into alcohol. Have smoked of an on but never a chain smoker.
18. Neck stiff (reduced now)
19. Have had Restless Legs Syndrome (RLS). Aggravated if I eat non-vegetarian items in the night or if I have eaten within 5 hours before bed time and not cleared stomach.
20. Dry and cracking lips
21. Cracking knuckles
22. Disturbed by sound of clock ticking. Any rhythmic sound. Never been able to work with music on.
23. Fist tired.
24. Thin transparent emission.
25. Irritated easily by minor things like someone overtaking on the road
26. Feel trapped in the moment and in the universe.
27. When mind is not thinking about weighty things, can laugh freely. Especially enjoy video clips of babies and dogs doing cute things
28. When looking at people, seeing machines. So can't get into a close relationship even with someone who I otherwise like in my mind.
29. Aversion to light.
30. Pain in heart when thoughts make me feel helpless. This has been a big item in the last 2 months.

Hope to hear back from you.

Thanks!
