My mother in law is in her 80′s complained of angina a couple of days ago and consulted a cardiologist. she is undergoing treatment since 13th March. She is also diabetic and is on amaryl for the past couple of years. She is also hypertensive. Was taking Telma 80 for the past 2 years. She has also been taking Fesovit to improve her haemoglobin.

The findings of the cardiologist on 13th are given below:
Diagnosis: Unstable angina.
HR- 92/mt B.P- 190/90 Wt: 52kg
Haemoglobin: 11.3 g/dl Glucose random: 178.5 Cratine: 0.8

Medicines prescribed:
1. Metosarton 50 - 1-0-0
2. Deplatt CV 1-0-0
3. Nikoran 5mg 1-0-1
4. Ismo 20 1-0-1
5. Amaryl 1mg 1-0-1

Dear Nikkie,

Thank you for your immediate response. You have prescribed Cactus Grandiflora Q. I presume it is for angina. Can she take Cactus now along with the allopathic drugs? Or should she wait for the present course of treatment is over. The cardiologist had called her for review on Monday.

I requested a remedy for chronic constipation. She has not passed stool for 4 days. The ayurvedic medicines such as Triphala is not acting on her any more and hence she is more concerned. Will you please suggest one?

Clarifications answered:
1. No stomach problems except the constipation which I have mentioned In the post.
2. No kidney related problem.
3. Cholesterol is not checked. Probably she has to check after cardiologist’s review.
4. Food: Morning: 3 slices bread or 2 Idly or 2 dosas
Noon: regular vergetarian meals: 2 cups of rice with vegs and curd.
Dinner: 2 Idly or 2 dosas
5. No injections for balancing blood sugar.

Looking forward to your suggestions. -- rajapsc
