I would suggest starting with Silicea 200c. The method of administering the remedy is as follows.
INSTRUCTONS FOR SPLIT DOSING
Firstly, you need to create a separate dosing bottle. Get a bottle with a dropper, 15-30mls in size, and fill it with a mixture of water and alcohol (5 parts to 1 part). Dissolve 2-4 granules or 2-4 drops of the medicine you bought from the pharmacy into this mixture. Your doses will be made from this bottle.
Hit the bottle firmly against the palm of your hand, or another elastic surface like a book. It should be a firm hit not a tap. 2 hits is enough to begin with, and should not be increased unless it is clear that it is needed. The water in this bottle will 'remember' the number of times you have hit it, so that subsequent doses will be stronger (necessary to overcoming the resistance of your disease).
Place 1 drop into an amount of water - I may start with anything from 1/4-1 full cup (62ml-250ml) depending on the sensitivity of the patient. Stir thoroughly and take 1 teaspoon into the mouth. Throw the rest of the cup away.
This is one dose. Repeat doses would be started from the 2 hits on the bottle.
Each step of this process can be adjusted to reduced aggravation or to increase the effect of the medicine. In order to be able to do this, it is important to measure each step (count the hits, the drops, measure the water etc).
Start with 2 pillules or drops into the dosing bottle. Hit twice, 1 drop into 1/4 cup of water (62mls), stir and take one teaspoon into the mouth. Do this once only, as a test dose, and we will assess what has happened after about a week.

Also, you do not need to have everything that a remedy is capable of producing. In fact it is impossible for you to have everything. That essay I presented was based on 20 cured cases of Silicea - 20 different people.
Homoeopathy works on the principle of similarity, not sameness. The remedy only needs to be able to produce a state that is 'like' yours to cure it, not the exact same state (which is impossible).

Alcohol is not available here. So can I dissolve 2 drops of the medicine in 30 ml of water and follow the procedure?

I found your essay on Silicea very informative and very well written. More valuable than whats written in the materia medica.
Do you have similar essays on other remedies? Can you share all of them with me, for my education?

Medicinal alcohol should be available (ethanol). Without alcohol, the water in the dosing bottle will not hold the charge of the remedy very long. This can create problems for long-term use, as the same bottle and water needs to be reused (the water remembers the number of times it is hit, and the alcohol preserves that memory) but in the short term, you can simply use water on its own.
Try if you can to get hold of medicinal alcohol for subsequent doses.

That isn't my essay, it is an exerpt of one printed in a homoeopathic journal. I can find out which one when I get home tonight.

I popped 2 pellets of Sil 200 on 23-Sept. Waited for 3-4 days but no change occurred. Then I followed your instructions on split dosing, except I used plain water instead of 5:1 alcohol. Took a dose on 27-Sept and then on 2-Oct. No change.
I just found out Kent says 'Sil is at its best when taken as a single dose.'
What should I do now?
Given that Staph made some improvement, would you consider Coloc or Caust that often complete its action?

Complementaries don't work that way unfortunately.
I will look over the case again to see what step we should take next.

Thanks Dr Kempson
I have turned into a useless zombie with the general anxiety and depression.
Will be most grateful for any help.

Add: Great desire for stimulants (tea, chewing tobacco) after mental exertion.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-05 |
Sorry for the delay. So many cases running at the moment I am having a little trouble keeping up.
I have put you back in my sight though.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-05 |
Oh by the way, can you describe more on 'uselss zombie'.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From 75daud [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-06 |
I have my ups and downs in terms of energy, zest and mental strength. The useless zombie comment came out during a down: when I am totally uncapacitated, unable to think and focus, mentally blank, no initiative, pessimism etc.
Last 2-3 days I am feeling better. Energised, can focus: thats my up. But mind still clouds after mental work, energy is still lacking, but mental depression is much better.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From 75daud [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-07 |
Thank you Dr Kempson.
My mental symptoms are significantly and visibly better after Sil 200. I can feel:
Optimism
Mental Energy
Initiative
High spirits
Lessened anxiety
Lessened Timidity
Cheerfulness
How do I know if I am completely cured? Is there a chance of relapse?
There has been a single incident of pain over right eye during this time. Last Friday 30-Oct-2011. I think over sleeping causes or at least precedes the headache.
Also there is a slightly painful round suppuration growing at the center upper back. Red skin. No opening yet.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-08 |
So the Silicea has helped then? Ok we need to stick with it.
You will be cured when there are no more symptoms or problems left. Relapse is always a possibility, but that can be addressed as it happens.
It appears that you may have been going through an aggravation. It is important not to react to an aggravation as if it is a problem to be medicated, as afterwards you should see improvement (which has happened this time).
It is prudent to wait and observe yourself for awhile now, since a remedy can continue to work for weeks or even months after the dose. | This thread continues beneath the following ad.

Dr Kempson
Update.
Felt a headache coming on on 8-Oct at the usual time am 11.30ish. Immediately took iboprufen which helps.
Again today 18-Oct, but not at the usual time, it was 3.00 pm. Any change in sleep causes headache. I am trying to change my sleep pattern, sleep and wake up early. I woke up earlier than usual today which I feel is connected to the headache.
Mental depression and anxiety is much better after Sil. I am much more optimistic, confident, chirpy and organised now.
Some problems remain.
1. Cowardice: I am still the same when it comes to even a hint or possibility of confrontation. On 8-Oct, a business contact came up with a request that I had to refuse. I did, but he pressed, politely. Despite the politeness, my heart ran wild because I was threatened by a possibility of a confrontation. I said no, but could not maintain eye contact and my tone was far from being firm.
Mental exertion: I was helping my 5th grade son with his exam preparation this Sunday. After an hour, the child was alert and fresh but my mind was all cloudy and heavy. It was not much of an exertion, but I lack in mental stamina.
Bad News Triggers Anxiety: I told you I live in a volatile city, the other day there was a hoax of some law and order situation. Immediately, my heartbeat increased, legs felt weak and there was a sensation of a ball in the throat.
The suppuration that appeared on the upper back after Sil disappeared without any discharge.
I felt a little down yesterday. I think the idea of being depressed again terrorizes me. I immediately took another dose of Sil 200.
Please advise me what to do now?
How often, if at all, should I repeat Sil? Is there any other remedy for me?
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-19 |
It is better to take repeat doses only after I assess the case, as taking them too soon, or if you need another remedy, can actually cause a slide backwards.
It will take several months and probably several doses of Silicea, including using higher potencies, before you are fully well. Your case may also change enough to require a new medicine, although which one is not predictable at this early stage.
For the moment, you have repeated your dose, so we need to wait a few weeks to see how things go. The first dose took some time to begin to show its positive effect so it is important not to move too fast.

Dr Kempson
I had a headache on friday 28-Oct, not at the usual time 11.30 am but at 1.00 pm.
Saturday 29-oct, felt some anxiety and lack of confidence.
Is it time to repeat the dose?
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-30 |
It has been awhile since that last dose, so I would say yes it is appropriate to repeat the remedy once.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From 75daud [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-10-31 |

DR Kempson
After Sil I feel more confident, expressive and better able to handle life. Thank you.
Right sided headaches over the right eye that were palliated with staph have returned. Every 8th or 10th day.
Please advise | | |
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From brisbanehomoeopath [Log on to view profile] | on 2011-12-19 |
Hmmm...Ok repeat the remedy again to see if it resolves the headaches.
If not we will need to do a more complete assessment.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From 75daud [Log on to view profile] | on 2012-02-09 |
Dear Dr Kempson
I have never been worse. Absolute lack of confidence, will, initiative. Cloudy mind, avoid people even the loved ones annoy. Unable to think and articulate. Absolute apathy and indifference. Passive. Averse to converse, finding it difficult to get words out of the throat. Hopelessness severe mental depression. Do not feel love towards family.
Out of desperation took silicea 1M 3 days back. felt tearful on sympathy, so followed it by puls 1M. Nothing happened.
Please help. I don't think Sil is working anymore.
Am I a psoric? | | |

Please rewrite that list of symptoms for me, and next to each one put Better, Worse, Same or New Symptom.
If you write better or worse, please put a percentage to show how much.
I am not sure what happened here. Either we repeated the remedy too soon, or Silicea was only a partial similar which eventually failed. In that case a new remedy must be found.
| Re: cowardice, anxiety, insomnia | From 75daud [Log on to view profile] | on 2012-02-22 |
Dear Dr Kempson
After Sil, this is what I think happened
Anxiety, Fears better 90%
Fear of confrontation better 20%
Headache same
Self Image / esteem worse 50%
Weak ankles same
Insecurity worse 20%
Initiative in work worse 100%
Sluggishness of mind worse 100%
Depression of spirits worse 100%
Confusion worse 50%
Aversion to conversation out of fear of peoples' attitude worse 100%
Feeling of inadequacy worse 50%
Sad / dejected worse 50%
cannot think of the right response, end up in the most timid and compromising response, worse 100%
Cannot remember tasks worse 100%
Cannot take initiative, fear of starting something new, worse 70%
Aversion to business worse 50%
I can only connect my depression to continuous failures in business. I have labelled myself a failure, though I know this is an over generalization and I have had some successes as well. Maybe I expected too much from myself, which did not realize. |
