Longstanding earache

Posting on behalf of my dad (57) - has had earache, rather, ear agony for many years now, symptoms getting worse every day. GP no good, antibiotics and syringing given to no avail - symptoms are partial (sometimes total) defaness, grinding feeling, extreme sharp pain to the extent that he has tried to self-syringe and drink himself into a stupor - GP says no infection and no wax - specialist agrees there's nothing there that shouldn't be - any homeopathic treatments guys??

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
ps forgot to mention - bizarrely, it appears to get worse when his body temperature rises or falls, i.e. going outside, washing dishes, having shower, etc....;(

Has he got any problems with his back teeth or throat? Particularly ask about the teeth........

Please let us know which ear is the pain in, more about the sinus problems. Also how long has this problem been there and what happened just before the earache to perhaps start it off??
syringing is always dubious - avoid it at all costs. the most important thing is to describe the earache as much as you can and give us some more information about your dad, his personality, food and weather preferences..
I know his teeth are false but did he have own teeth when the problem started and , if so, were there any problems with the teeth or jaw.?

In both ears, pain equally bad, as is deafness when it occurs, sometimes more in left than right...he suffers from high blood pressure (and is a 'social' drinker!) and often has a flushed face..is on BP medication from GP daily, currently BP is within normal limits..he's had false teeth forever (15 years?) and trouble has started since then (at least 10 years?)...sinus problems flare up maybe monthly and Sinutab relieves this...he describes pain as 'grinding', 'stabbing' and can sometimes find relief by pushing his fingers into ears - he loves the sun, hates spicy food, especially loves his whisky (as I do, I'm afraid!), smokes but has cut intake down, has a heavy engineering job in loud, nasty, dusty factory..thanks Erica!!

read on abc about lachesis, colocynthis and sulphur and decide whether any of them may suit - come back if they do, or don't, for further advice ....

it is of course also possible that the smoking and/or the work situation may aggravate the condition - the ear pain and the sinusitis. Does he wear ear protectors at work - if not, then he should consider this..

i checked out the abc description and it did not mention the important point that all of these get relief from putting finger into ear/boring into ear, so bear this in mind ...
