chalazion/Sty help

I have had this sty in the left lower eyelid toward the corner for over 3 months.
WHen I first went to the eye Dr he put me on antibiotics for 14 days and after that didn't work and made me feel like crap I went to see a Naturopath. She started to try remedies. First was Hepar Sulph to get the sty to drain, it helped a little but then I became extremely irritable like I had bad PMS. I became extremely angry and easily agitated and I woke up at night in a rage. We stopped that and then tried Pulsatilla. She gave me 200c and then had me take 30c after. The high dose gave me a headache and I also suffered some insomnia for several days. The sty did drain some more and the lower eyelid was not as red as before and the sty became more localized. The headaches continued and Insomnia continued, the moods got better. I told her I could not continue to use this remedy. Then she tried Calc silicata, same thing more headaches more insomnia.
After that I took several doses of Sepia to help with the headaches and the insomnia. I started to sleep better. Now I am taking Silicea 30C, I still get occasional headaches on the temples and I wake up once a night from 1-4 am but I sleep pretty soundly when I can sleep.
Should i stay with this remedy?
How often should I take it 30c?
How long will it take for this sty to go away?
The past few mornings I have been waking up with crusty eyes and some gooky discharge in the corner , but the sty doesn't look like its going down much more???
ANy feedback will be appreciated
Thank you
smp

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hypericum is not often thought of in this connection but it does have an application to styes when they occur on the left lower eye lid.

Give it a try .

Otherwise look at Graphites
Lycopodium
Sulphur

and Psorinum.

I used to suffer from Styes and Chalazions on a regular weekly basis many years ago and discovered that Arnica 30 which I took in place of Hytrin to keep my prostate relaxed and to which I was allergic to, also helped to cure this regular infection of the hair follicles in the eyelids which in turn caused the styes.

You can foment your eyelid with a soft towel dipped in boiling water which is placed over the eyelid when the heat can be tolerated on the face. The damp heat can cause the sty to open up and the pus to flow out.

However if this treatment does not work, and it may very well not since you have had your sty for over 3 months and it is hard, I'm afraid that you will have to get it lanced by an eye surgeon to release the pus. This is not a painful and I have suffered this procedure 5 times over till I discovered Arnica which I now take every night to keep the styes away is the answer.

Arnica also helps the flow of blood in the body, especially in the capillaries and if taken last thing at night, it will promote deep sleep and you will wake up feeling quite refreshed.

I think Joe has an Arnica Fixation.

I do agree with your comment on my 'Arnica fixation' but I am only quoting my own experience with this amazing remedy which I have taken every night for 10 years, which I honestly feel is the secret of my sense of wellness at age 75 with BP 120/80, Pulse 65.

I would recommend that all who read this will take Arnica daily, preferably last thing at night, and experience for themselves the improvement that Arnica can make in their lives.

I am trying Staphysagria 30C right now. Will a 30C potency work slower than a 200C? What is the purpose of administering a 200C potency. I prefer not to take such a high potency since I found out I am sensitive to high doses or is it normal to get a severe reaction (such as headaches and insomnia) at high doses???

No idea why you are taking Staph
but the 200 is a potency to avoid. 150 c is ok or 1M -- but the 200 does odd things sometimes.

How can I find a reputable homeopath in my area. There are only naruropaths and I know they typically don't specialize in homeopathy.
Would like to know if 30C potency is effective?

Suzy528 last decade
?. What is your area ?.

30c can be quite effective!.

Hope it works out and that you do not get aggro from the 200 potency.

If you run into problems come back.

I have had a chalazion on my bottom right eyelid, my upper right eyelid and my left upper eyelid. The first was a pain, the second worse, and the third the worst. The day my second one dissapeared I woke up with a swolen right eye. Very upset, because my last one, which lasted 5-6 months had JUST gone away. My doctor told me to walk my swolen eye OFF. THAT IS NOT THE ANSWER. I had to depend on the internet to get REAL answers to prevent these horrible lumps which made life so difficult. The way I treated it, which only took TWO months, was by adding a warn cloth(wash cloth) to my affected eyelid 4 times a day for 20 mintues. And trying to POP the cyst in hopes I could drain the fluid. My doctor told me not to, but this cyst went away FOUR months before my last one which I got rid of with doctor instruction. Now, after my last one went away, I have been free of them for about 1 year. The BEST WAY to PREVENT A CHALAZION is by cleaing your eyelids(BOTH) with your hands in the shower each day with soap and drying with towel once out of the shower. This way your eyelids stay clean all day, and very get dirty and oily. Another tip, staying up really late adds stress to your eyes and increases the chance of oil. If you feel like your eyes are oily or hurt, WASH IMMEDIATELY. About FOUR months ago I woke up with a SWOLLEN eye and almost started crying cause I didnt want another one. My eye turned red and I knew I was screwed. But instead of walking it off, I cleaned it constantly, and by the end of the day it was gone. DO this and you will NEVER HAD ONE AGAIN I GUARANTEE IT.

Copied from another similar thread:

To Klaus and John

I have been a fellow sufferer for some years till I discovered that Arnica 30c which I used in place of Hytrin which I was prescribed way back in 1996 for my prostate which fortunately did not help me and that was when I used Arnica which fixed my prostate and also my Styes.

I note that Klaus had not had any success with Arnica and I hope that he used the 30c potency. Like you Klaus I too have had 5 surgical adventures and mercifully this is now history but even today history has a habit of repeating itself if I do not take Arnica nightly which I have now done since 1996. If you are interested please search for Arnica in the cage on the left of this page and read the many uses I have discovered for Arnica.

I have been clear of Styes and Chalazions for many years but discover very occasionally that there are still some hard bits that exude from the hair follicles in the eyelids which can be classified as 'dry Styes ' They would obviously have formed into the wet styes were it not for the Arnica I take nightly.

I have advised the use of Arnica in the wet dose 1 teaspoonful twice daily for fellow sufferers. The latest is advising the damping with the water from the bottle directly on the eyelids as this helps in their resolution.

Fomenting is also advised as often and as long as is possible.

Please report your respective responses from time to time.

I read all the help for chalazions I could find and after searching, I decided to look up medication with drawing effect and low and behold I found a cheap simple remedy and in 4 days it has shrunk mind to almost nothing...I read about someone using antibacterial soap so I got some Dial and have been washing with that, also to draw the infection out, the thing that I believe is working the best is plain old Epson Salts mixed with boiling water I put wash cloth in and wring it out in a bid towel so I don't burn my hands and let cool enough not to burn my eye and place the compress on until it cools which is kindof quick so I go back and dip in hot water again until it cools and do this like twice a day, you can even reuse the mixture later and reboil it...amazing it has shrunk my big red chalazion to almost nothing 4 days, and I believe in a few days it will be completely gone, say total a week...I also at night have put neosporin antibacterial on it, be sure not to get in the eye just a drop and rub it in...This is my first chalazoin and I have had it for like 3 months before I just read all the stuff I could find on getting rid of them...I actually found this info because syte eye used to have another ingredient in it that would draw out the pus but they discontinued it and now it is just a lubricant, so I went looking on internet for something with a drawing effect and I found Epson salts that people use to drain boils and carbuncles and thought why not try it and sure enough it is working incredible...very cheap to buy and try...I recommend the bigger box because the small one only lasts a couple days worth the extra dollar...The combination of antibacterial and drawing properties of the epson salts is definitely working, you can hardly see mind at all now and I am super happy with the result...other stuff I found but did not try because this is working is castor oil applied to cotton ball and taped on said it would work in two days, pure tea tree oil drop applied after bath, turmeric capsule 450 mg a day, potatoe put in cloth applied 30 minutes to help draw out infection, which I did one day but went to epson salts instead because it was working so good...so that was the other stuff I was found but did not try but thought I would pass on to everyone in hopes if one does not work something else will for you but I have had amazing results with the above regimen of antibacterial soap, epson salts, and neosporin every other day applied very sparingly do not get antibiotic in eye...I am super happy and could not wait to share this with others...Best Regards...

Dear suzy.

You did not indicate your reaction to Staphisagria, did this not help. strange as it is the first remedy to think of in styes.

and to passkey Re: Arnica fixation, 'no comment' -Chuckles-

I am going to write a step by step easy way to get rid of a chalazion the best way I think possible.
1)Clean daily and do not rub or get dirty. Chalazion can spread to both eyes if you rub is constantly then touch your other eye. This is an easy way to prevent any future infection.
2)These bumps grow from a hair folicle on your eyelid, so if possible in some cases plucking the infected eyelash may actually make a drainage hole for your bump. A doctor told me that once.
3)Apply warm washcloth (not burning hot) onto bump for 4 times a day, 20 minutes each time. Make sure the cloth stays warm.
4)Find out if there are any things online (abchomeopathy) to help your chalazion go away quicker.
5)Once the bump is gone, it is likely you will get another. So make sure to clean your eyes daily even after it goes away to prevent another cyst.

Hi Everyone!!! If You Have A Chalazion You Must Not Try To Pop It!!! Do Not Go See The Doctor Unless The Described Method Does Not Work!!! Buy Some Ginger In Its Raw Form At Your Local Grocery Store, You Will Find It In The Fruits & Vegetables Section, For about 5-10 Cents You Can Buy Enough!!! Take It Home Go In Front Of A Mirror, Slice The Ginger With A Knife And You Will Notice What Looks Like Water Left On The Blade, Sweep Your Finger Across The Side Of The Knife To Pick Up The 'Water' And Gently Apply It To The Lump On The OUTSIDE Of Your Eyelid, Make Sure You DO NOT Get Any Of The Liquid From The Ginger In Your Eye! I Had One Of these Things And I Heard Ginger Worked So I Tried This Method And In ONE Week, After ONE Application, It Was Completely Gone!! It May Take More Than One Application (If Its Really Bad, You Tried To Pop It, etc.) Please Be Careful, Remember Not To Irritate or Play With It Aside From The Treatment, It Needs To Be Left Alone! Good Luck!

I have been a sufferer myself. For the longest time I kept getting styes but I was finally able to cure it with homeopathy and adapting a healthier lifestyle. I have shared my experiences on my website

I hope it will be useful
