Serious Stomach infection
my kid of 11 months is suffering from frequent stomach infections since the time he was 5 mnths. almost every month he is on an antibiotic course for the same. please help.the symptoms are:
1. pain in stomach
2. greenish black stools (semi liquid form) which very sourish smell. the entire bathroom smells after he is done.
3. They are very frequent and more watery during the first day of the infection. and they are as frequent as 2 stools in 5 mins. His anus area becomes all red and rashy within half an hour after the onset of the infection.
4. even on the 5th day of the antibiotic course, he is passing 8-9 stools which are smelly and greenish.
one important thing is that during the onset of the infection, there is a lot of mucus in his stools, but once it subsides, his stools are non-sticky, they wont even stick to his skin and they are very granular (like gram pulse).
please suggest some homeopathic course for him so that he is cured by his first birthday.

Okay Gave her Merc Sol 30C three dose with half hour (i.e. if first dose at 2pm then second on 2:10 and 3rd on 2:20) one dose consist of 2-3 drops in half water or 2-3 globules of #30 size globules.
Report six hours after all three doses.
Tell diet of child also on next reply.

Give me a day in between and i will report back to you all the remaining symptoms after giving him the suggested medicine

As instructed by you, i gave him 3 doses in half an hour of Merc Sol 30x, in the evening and he passed a much better stool in the morning today. It was yellowish brown in color with no smell and semi solid.
Diet

I used to feed him simple home made food initially (like chapati and dal, rice etc) but as his stomach was not ok, i shifted to Parle G biscuits, Suji rusk, upma, suji or atta halwa (with very less ghee) etc. Please suggest if i need to change his eating habits as well. He is a bottle fed baby on Lactogen 3. He takes 4 solid meals and 4 bottles a day.

Repeat same dose of Merc Sol weekly for next three weeks.
Do not give milk in bottle and give only Banana, Rice, curds, and any other home made easily digestive foods when sick.

Thanks a lot sir. I try and give mostly home made food to him. My only problem is that he cannot sleep without milk. I will try to do away with the bottle but milk is a little difficult to do away with.
About the remedy, what i understand from your statement is - repeat every thursday for 3 weeks. Is my understanding correct?

You had done wrong by making of habit of bottle. There are too many side effects of bottle feeding. You should give milk with spoons.
Regarding medicine, your understanding is right. You have to give weekly dose.

My kid stayed well only for one day. Since yesterday afternoon his stools turned green, grainy and smelly again. The frequency which reduced to 3 is back to 6 now.
I think i should report a few more observations - one is that he slept quite well for one day in the day as well as night. his night feeding frequency also reduced and he slept quite well. secondly,his intake also reduced which seemed to be ok since now he is back to demanding frequent meals and not knowing when to stop. Only on friday, he could feel full. He has not been gaining weight for the last 2 months now because of his stomach ailment.
Do you recommend any change in the medicine or the frequency since i think by the next thursday the situation might worsen again.

You can him Merc Sol on every three day basis.
It was bottle not milk. You should just give her milk with bowl and spoon.
Report three days later. Keep observing and telling as much as possible regarding your son. This will help lot in determination of next medicine.

Sir,
I gave him Merc Sol 3 doses in half an hour arnd 12 in the afternoon yesterday. He passed 4 stools after that. First was watery, second had some mucus in it. third had some semi solid parts as well and all three were mustard colored. The last one was brown in color, mostly semi solid and smelly.
Also his food intake has dropped down to 30% now. He did not sleep well in the night too. Can you please suggest what should i do in this case or simply wait and watch. I am a little worried.

For greenish stool ...you can try Chamomilla.

the thing is that they are not actually greenish in color. The color is mustard or brown, sometimes dark mud like.

Regarding diagnosis, I can he is certainly suffering with some GI infection.
If there is great urgency, unable to control, explosive diarrhea then it could be Giardia.
If it is less in quantity each time with mucus and tensemus then it could be any other i.e. E.Histolica or any other.
However, stool for Ova and parasite can tell us what is problem.
Other consideration would be malabsorption and in such condition stool test for fat can be tested.
Regarding your last concern, I would say that if child is responding to Merc Sol then we should wait and watch.
The most important thing here is to keep him hydrated with ORS solution.

he was teething a week before but i think he is done with them. his major problems are that he has started walking and keeps crawling and picks up anything that comes his way and puts it in his mouth. I am always after him but still it cannot be completely taken care of. I try to keep him in his pram most of the time but not possible since i feel i am curbing his desires to move around and explore. Please help.

I thought i must inform you that today he seemed to responding to the merc sol dose i gave him yesterday.
today's count is 3 till now with yellowish brown semi solid stools and there was no smell. the food intake was also better
just to mention that he is sweating a lot these days - more than any of us. Is it linked to the medication or just a mom's worry ;)

If he was teething a week before and the loose motions started near abouts...then Chamomilla has a better chance of giving success.
Give chamomilla 30 c
3 doses every half hour gap.
After that another three doses in 2 hour gap
It will also take away the pain in his gums and colic (stomach ache).
Then stop.

My kid is fine now. Chamomilla was effective. It decreased the frequency but the color of the stools continued to be bad. then i had to move out of station where i consulted my relative's local homeopath. She asked me to stop Lactogen and start normal mother dairy toned milk and since then, his stools are normal. thanks a lot to all.

I am amit from Bhopal. I am suffering from stomach infection for past few months. my stomach is not getting cleared properly and in the morning itself i have to go to toilet 3 to 4 times to clear. even after tha, it feels as if still something has left. i am unable to eat more than two chapatis, as my hunger has reduced considerable. i feel tired all day long and keep yawning most of the time.
