Thanks,

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
NO-and this may apply to all ingrediant of the formula you use-------immune stimulant-----

but if need to know if safe to use---here is guide line---
note condition of child and all her symptoms at this time (before giving)--head to toe--
give in small appropriate doses--not necessarily as recomended on bottle--give 1 dose a day--until you see any change in her at all--anything--stop---allow things to settle--then repeat ----stop and go --until see expected results -if aggravation of any kind--take notes--and discontinue-allow person to stablize

now this is all based upon ----that you know what results that you obsrvably seek--if do not know -then do not give-unless you are experimenting--this safe way to see for yourself --what any medicine can do--

NEVER TAKE OR GIVE ROUTINELY without strict observation--this apply to alll medicines or substances--even food

Elderberry is primarity used to treat and prevent the flu. Some say it has antioxidant properties as well.

I am not interested in using it as a treatment. I have a childrens immune defense supplement that I got my daughter to hopefully help her fight off any flu germs she might come into contact with.

Since she has an auto immune disease where they immune system basically attacking healthy tissue in the body, ANY amount or use of an immune system stimulant would be contraindacated with her and should not be given at all. I know for example that echinacea is a strong immune stystem stimulant and would make arthritis worse as well as any other autoimmune disease.

So, what I need to know is does the 'support' the immune system or does it 'stimulate' or jump start it any way? Is this a safe supplement from daughter? It contains 40 mg per supplement with 1-2 given per day. (not giving right now though)

Namaste.. I saw in another post that you work(ed) in a health food store so maybe you can answer this?

Thank you,
Michelle

I completely understand immune boosters not being a good thing for anyone with an autoimmune imbalance. I helped a lot of people at the health food store stay away from these. I do believe that Elderberry is an immune booster. The nutritionist that worked with us HIGHLY recommended a product called Moducare which contains plant sterols, or rather fats from plants that are great for an overactive immune system or an underactive immune system. Moducare balances the immune system. They have a free newsletter that most health food stores carry and it highly recommends this product for arthritis. The nutritionist saw a lot of positive results with this product. Good luck and stay positive!
