should homeopathic remedy work in 2 days?

Hi,
I read Miranda Castro's book which says given the right remedy, we should see improvement to the patient's condition in 2 days.
If after 2 or 3 days we still do not see relief to the symptoms, can we conclude that it's the wrong remedy given?

What would be the fair number of days given to relieve symptoms of nose congestion?

Thanks

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
R. Gibson Miller has prepared a table for Relationship of Remedies with duration of action. This table is given as an appendix in many Books on homeopathy like Boreicke's MM. Theoretically remedies have duration of action as specified in this table. But whether the remedy can act earlier than its duration of action? Yes. Of course. An indicated remedy may act immediately when the wet dose is sipped up or pills are kept under tongue until dissolved. For the remedy to act effectively, it should be selected on the basis of totality of symptoms instead of selecting it on the basis of a speicific symptom.

My son had been prescribed with :
1) Calcarea Carbonica
2) Bryonia
3) Pulsatilla

He has been on them for 3 days already, twice a day. There hasn't been any relieve of the symptoms so far.

He has nasal congestion and frequently work up some phlegm to spit out. The phlegm is clear. He would occasionally sneeze but he is not having a cough.
He has very loud breathing.

Personality wise, he is a happy, friendly and chatty boy who enjoys outdoors.

Do you think these are the right remedies for him?

thanks

On the basis of the symptoms reported by you (ie physical symptoms - nasal congestion, modalities - prefers open air, mentals - happy, friendly and chatty ,it seems that Pulsatilla should work for him. Please give him Pulsatilla 30c thrice a day at a gap of 4 hours for 2-3 days and see how he responds.

Pulsatilla antidotes Bryonia and Calc Carb. Bryonia antidotes Calc. carb. So the combination of these three remedies is not a good combination. Otherwise also combinations are not good and they are justified only under emergencies when the symptom picture is not clear. If you are giving these remedies in sequence and not in combination, pulsatilla should work.

It seems like my homeopath didn't know what she was doing.

She had given me these three remedies but didn't label them. I don't know which is which now. She just put no. 1, 2 and 3.

To avoid antidoting one another, should i give them half hourly apart or longer? (since i don't know which one is pulsatilla)
thanks

You should give only Pulsatilla 30c. If it is not clear from the bottles you have, please procure Pulsatilla 30c.

Hi,
I am sad to report that my husband finally took my son to see a medical doctor as my son's nose congestion did not improve after 5 days of homeopathic remedies. He felt that he had given homeopathy a try and it's not proving to work effectively.

I have learnt my lesson to never take my son to just any homeopath as he/she may not be competent (like the one i saw) and i ended having to pay for 2 consultations (one homeopathic, one allopathic).

May I know in future, how do I screen out the bad ones from the good? Is it by the fact they never ask for my son's personality and also giving of multiple remedies?

Please see the Questionnaire at the following thread

A homeopathic prescriber should do the case taking by asking such questions and come out with a remedy. Generally in homeopathy single remedy is suggested on the basis of totality of symptoms.
