staph and nux vom

What is the relation between staphysagria and nux vomica? Do they antidote each other?

After taking a dose of nux vom two weeks ago I feel as though the effect of staph from two months ago is partially gone. Or perhaps this could be an aggravation of the nux vom?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
When two remedies have a 'relationship', generally homoeopaths are referring to similarities between the two. Often when one has partially helped a case, you might consider the other as being close enough to try.

In the case of these two remedies, the anger is probably the primary similarity. However there are others - you will often see these two remedies appearing in the same rubrics (on a mental level). There are issues of honor, indignation, rage and loss of temper.

However, there are several basic differences - one important difference is the miasm. As I have said on another thread, Staph belongs to the Cancer miasm and its main issue is with Control. Staph must control their anger, their emotions, suppress them. It is a central theme to the remedy.

Nux-vom belongs to a different plant family, the same family as Ignatia in fact. The basic issue is Loss, Devastation, Shock. Nux-vom either suffers from a loss of work, business, and security that comes from it. That loss creates a feeling that they need to make up that loss as fast as possible. And from that comes all the hurriedness, irritability, outright rage - 'Don't get in my way, work comes first and I don't have much time!' is a way of understanding that. Work hard, work fast, make up lost ground, don't let others get ahead of you. This is the essence of the Nux-vom personality.

Of course, all remedies have different levels of effect - this is merely the mental level and there are physical, general, sensational levels as well which might appear different.

Antidotes to Staph are Ambr, Camph., Merc. and Thuj.

Nux-V does not antidote Staph.
