too much earwax

Hi,

I just looked into my 4,5 years old son's ears: left ear is full of earwax. No wonder he keeps asking "what?"...

I soaked the ear in a bath and tried to dig it out with all possible ways. I was able to clean the right ear, not the left one.

The wax is dry, some parts like dandruff. And there is a thick and hard layer against eardrum.

When he was a baby, doctors could never check the ears without fist cleaning them. The problem was always the left ear.

I do clean the ears every week with a cotton stick, but normal cleaning is not enough.

He has never had any infections or other problems with ears.

I wonder if I have to see a pediatrician and pay 50 euros for cleaning the ears... How can I prevent this problem in the future? Silicea?

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Read Causticum.

Hi Murthy,

You are around! Have you any comments about the thread of my 2 years old?

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
Perhaps you are asking about your '4 year old' mentioned in your '2 year old' and rising it in 'earwax'.

Sounds funny. Is it not? (I am smiling)

Anyway,he needs a deep acting medicine, and let us wait for some more time to see whether the 'more experienced' people respond.

I too will look into it.

Now,regarding the earwax problem,also look into Conium,Lachesis.

But,remember that a minimum of three important symtoms have to match,if the medicine has to give any benefit.

So look for yourself, and come back with your comments.

Hi again,

I have been reading internet about Causticum.

I found out, that these are the same with causticum and my son:
-doesn't like to drink water
-cant' stand cold wind
-when has a cold, always gets hoarseness
-empathetic (but never cries for others)
-hates injustice (If I am injustice, he realyl gets mad!)
-always moving around
-likes salt food (and even more vinegar)
-wicked temper
-gets excema on arms and knees, sometimes
-must still have grief from our move
-sometimes he wakes up in the nights and cries that his legs are in pain. I have thought they are because of growing, but not sure.
-sometimes he just falls down from a chair. I have thought because of moving so much, maybe it is paralysis...?

These are NOT correct with him:
- he doensn't bedwet
-he is very happy in the mornings
-he is optimistic
-he has blond hair (but compared to the brother or scandinavian in general, his skin is a little bit yellowish)

These I don't know:
-I don't know if he is that sensitive or perfectionist

You'll find more about him in my last message (in 2-year-old).

What do you think?

Hi Murthy,

I didn't think it before, but maybe you are right: this earwax has something to do with the bigger problem. He has these kind of small things (nausea for meat, sleeplessness, earwax, behavioral problems...) that come and go, seem irrational - maybe they are not so...

I checked out Conium. I didn't found out anything important.

Lachesis was better.
These symptoms are the same:
- he is extremely talkative
-symptoms are worse when touched
-hates heat
-complains stomach pains sometimes (that goes away fast)
-holds onto past insults
-full of ideas

Somehow Causticum seems better to me (well, it was recommended to earwax, too).

Try causticum 30,twice a day,for three days.Wait for a week and post response.

We can keep Lachesis as the next option, but may be after a month or so.

Hi Murthy,

I have been wondering about two things. My aim is to understand how homeopathy works - that's why I am "teasing" you with these questions.

First: you wrote that it is important that at least three important symptoms are the same. How do you evaluate/scale which are "the important symptoms"? Which symptoms are not important?
Are the similar symptoms more important than similar personal features?
I tend to write everything down because I don't know how to scale them.

Second: you seem to always recommend to take the remedy for three days.
I saw this one site in the net (http://www.mothernature.com/Library/Bookshelf/Books/21/97.cf...) about earwax and there the remedy 6x was recommended to take 7 days.
Is it so, that you take lower potency longer time and higher potency shorter time - or how does it goes?

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
You always ask difficult questions.

Anyway, let me try.

Important means that are prominent.Which has changed since on the onset of problem. You don't have to look for them. They should be obvious.

For example,in fevers, you may fel thirsty, yet you don't want to take much water at a time, you tend to take only sips at a time, but often, this is a sure indication for Ars.alb.

If the fever keeps rising around 1A.M. or 1P.M. this is another prominent symptom.

If you are very anxious, keep tossing in bed, this is another prominent symptom.

If you can find all the three symptoms, you can be sure Ars.alb will cure you.

Similarly, a Bryonia fever, generally has headache, the headache increases very much,by any motion, the patient lies like a log, without any movement,as movement makes him worse, drinks less frequently but more at a time, his lips and mouth tend to be dry.

Did you get the three prominent symptoms of Bry?
If you find the same,in a patient,Bry will definitely cure.

Ofcourse, I am giving you easy examples. But,this is how,you have to compare medicines.

Now,regarding potency and repetetion, many books were written. It is very difficult to answer in a few sentences.

But,we can say, generally, for chronic problems,if lower potencies are used, they are to be used for a long time. If, higher potencies, they tend to bring a reaction quickly, and hence the caution of giving a few doses and waiting.

But,all these things are secondary, and the most important thing is to choose the correct medicine.

It needs experience, proper knowledge of materia medica and ofcourse ,the knowledge of homeopathic philosophy.

Read as many books as you can lay your hands on.Try to differentiate similar remedies, for a particular condition.

Sleeplessness may be there in 10 medicines.See,how they are different from one another.Try to match with the symptoms your son has.

The three symptoms are called sometimes 'three legs of a stool.'Unless you have minimum three legs the stool can't be balanced.Similarly, unless atleast three prominent symtoms match, your remdy may not work.

Hi Murthy,
Thank you for the answer.

I find more sense in obeying orders or recommendations if I see the ultimate point. I have been like that since childhood.
Besides I have very strong interest in homeopathy.

I don't have a proper book about homeopathy. The book I have is far too simple. So I search my information in the internet. But there is too much information.
I am glad I found this forum. Because certain things you don't learn by reading.

When I read about remedies I feel I sink to all that information. In every remedy there is a headache and hundred other symptoms that I don't recognize in myself. Or when they talk about rheumatism and asthma - how you define those...

You need to know yourself really well to be able to find the right remedy. Otherwise you get lost in this forest or you find all the symptoms in yourself.

The most difficult is to evaluate a child. How on earth you know what is going on...?

Hi Murthy - again...
Just wanted to explain my logic how I'll write to this site:
If I want specially to get touch with you or Magicure, I write to the "2years-old".
If I want a quick answer or I don't mind who gives the advice, then I start a new question.
So if I am pressuring you - you'll find it in the "2yrsold"... :-)

Whatever little I know,I don't mind telling others.Keep asking.No problem.

Hi,
I gave him Causticum as told. Now I have been waiting for a week.
Well, the earwax doesn't come out by itself and I still cannot dig it out.

The boy itself has been well behaving all week. Not as difficult than lately.

How am I supposed to know the remedy was the right one?

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
I forgot - One more thing.

The stool has been loose and reddish (not that red as blood, lighter)for several days. He goes to toilet twice or more in a day.
Does it have something to do with clausticum?

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
Wait for one more week.We can't say much now.The normal review period is after three weeks.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Ok.
Is there any rules about other remedies during this time? Some that must be avoided?
Maria

avoid other medications,as far as possible.

Hi Murthy,

His stomach has been upset for five days now. It is getting worse; now he is complaining for the pain in stomach.

Can I give something to stabilize the situation?

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
Post the stomach symptoms. If you have some quickfix in mind, which fixed similar problem earlier, let us know.

Hi Murthy,

I just wrote a new thread: the rest of the family has stomach flu and the 4-years-old started it.

He didn't vomit, but had bad stomack pain. The diarrea is not watery, not that bad. Yesterday he had fever 38,5, this morning 37,5.
He wanted to eat this morning, ate some yoghurt, but couldn't eat much.
He is very weak and lacks energy.

I haven't given him any medicine.
Now I don't know which desease should be treated; the flu or the previous five days long stomack pain?
Last autumn loose stool became better with gelsenium. Maybe it would be good if this continues? (Because he has been sad at school for two weeks now and complained that nobody plays with him).

Now I am waiting to be the next one to get sick...

Maria

Maria&boys last decade
Has the stomach pain subsided?

Is diarrhoea the only problem now?

How does it smell?

How frequent it is?

Is there any rumbling? Any urgency?

Is there any pain before, during or after passing the stools?

Do all the family members have same symptoms?

Do you mean diaorrhea when you say 'stomack flu'?

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Hi Murthy,

The boy is getting clearly better. The temperature is down, only 37,0.
He hasn't complained about pain for several hours. He has been in toilet only once today (because he had pain before), smells like diarrhea, but it is not that liquid.

When I was talking about stomach flu I ment: diarrhea, vomiting, pain in the stomack, bad smell, fever.
The symptoms in stomach flu are always and every time the same, more or less.

My husband and the 2-year-old are the most sick at the moment. They have the same symptoms, PLUS they both have been vomiting in the morning.

Even though the 4-years-old got the same flu, had fever and terrible pain - but the diarrhea has been the same as past 6 days. The stool didn't get any looser during this sickness, it only started smell worse.

If the four year is improving, let his natural immunity take care of it.In case of relapse, post all the symptoms again.

Hi

Why don't you give them names instead of referring as 4 year old, 2 year old etc.

You need not give real names,if you are worried about privacy.

Murthy

bandarbabu2000 last decade
Hi Murthy,

The 4-year-old is much better. Not eating, but I think I'll take him school tomorrow.

I haven't told you their names and I haven't told you where I am from. Because of privacy, but oh, well... I am not telling any secrets here.

The 4-year-old is called Jasper, the 2-year-old is called Julius. And we are from Finland. We just live in Belgium.

Your turn: where in India you live in?

A million dollar formula:

You need Rubbing Alcohol (Isopropy Alcohol) and White Vinager.

Mix both in equal proportions and fill up the ear with the liquid. Wait for 5 minutes and drain the ear. Clean it very lightly with swab. Repeat this a couple of times. (make sure the liquid is a bit warm)

Alcohol will dry up the ear, so don't worry liquid won't stay in the ear.

This recipe is to clean the ear.

Sorry Mr. Murthy I have no intention to interrupt you. I just mentioned the recipe to clean the ear.
