My wife was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis a year back. Not sure what caused it.
She had allergies and the allergy kept on going for a month and after many different medications, finally doc gave her Steroid. And after that she started all the prob like constipation, etc and finally bloddy stool, with bad smell and constipation and when she used to stool, the rectum had burning sensation.
Anyway, I may never find what caused this.
She is now consulting a GP in Mumbai, India and following her dosage:
Mesacol: 1 x 1 x 1 (in a day)
Folvite: 1 (0.5 mg) (1/2 hour before breakfast)
Entofoam: three times a week
The doc says 16 inch of her intestine is damaged. Looks like any typical UC affected intenstine, with bruces. After starting the meds the stool became normal and blood in stool was stopped and she has been doing well since then.
She fell sick 2 weeks back and her UC was again agressive, she again started bleeding. The doc says there is no cure for this disease and she must keep taking the meds her entire life.
This makes me sick to my stomach. I am searching all over for permanent cure. And Homeopathy does sound promising. I luckily found this website and I have come with lot of hope here to find a permanent cure for her.
I will certainly consult a Homeopathy doctor before starting to take the meds, but I just need some guidance and do my homework before I go the doctor, so I know what to ask and what to expect. Any help on answering my these questions would be greatly appreciated.
I saw recommendations to take Mercurius Corrosivus here. I also went thru some of the forum posts here on the same topic.
1) Looking at her conditions and her current alopathy dosage, does this medication sound the right one for her?
2) Can she take this medication along with her current alopathy medications?
3) What amount of Mercurius Corrosivus should she be consuming and at freqency?
4) Can she completely recover and be medication free one day? If so typically how long it might take (any guess is highly appreciated)?
I just wish this had happened to me instead of her, I could had handled it more carefully and more punctually.

You do not need to do homework before going to a homeopath. He knows his work better.
You may continue Merc Cor but it does not cover the symptom.
I would suggest :
**** Symphytum Off 30
2 pills three to four times a day. Reduce frequency as soon as results are seen.
**** Arnica 30
2 pills 3 times daily
Symph is for ulcerations in the colon.
Arnica to stop bleeding.
Later on, give her
**** Aloe 200
4 pills only two times a week for UC.

Different medicines for diferent symptoms is not homeopathy.It is an offshoot of the allopathic thinking.
People,who are unable, to arrive at a single medicine,to cover all the symptoms,prescribe multiple medicines,at the same time.
You will be lucky,if the patient's condition doesn't get worsened.
Be careful.Don't follow prescriptions on the net blindly.Cross check with somebody,knoweldgeable.

Thank you all for the responses. I will certainly check with Homeopathy doctor and I shall post what he suggests and how it goes.
