Yes, I think it is a safe bet that he has had the glue ear for at least 2 months, but he definitely had no sign of it 6 months ago.

You said that lyco doesn't bear much repetition, so what would be the next step with lyco and what are the complementary remedies? I need to make sure we have them at hand.

Do we wait until we see a mental/physical negative change?

The remedies which can be next indicated are Sulphur or Lachesis, but as always symptoms will dictate, and we will decide when we have to.

Lyco 200c should be the next step when there is a relapse on the mental plane. It does bear repetition upto 3-4 doses of centesimals, and have given just 2 as of now.

Ok, well I will make sure we have lyco 200c. If we were to go to sulphur or lachesis, would we need to get a 6c or 12c?

I still wonder about calc carb. Of all the reading I've now done on the main remedies for young children, I just keep coming back to that one. It just seems right on so many levels. Other remedies (lyco included) have had such strong indicators on certain planes, but not on others, whereas calc carb seems to fit across almost everything.

I am also still curious about whether there are any remedies indicating when the patient responds positively to many different remedies. When we were administering pulsatilla last year, he seemed to respond extremely well to it, just as he is responding to lyco now. So much so, that we purchased all two bottles of LM.

As always, please bear in mind that my questions are not meant as any disrespect to you or your knowledge, but simply as a reflection of my own thirst for knowledge, and my desire to bounce ideas of you and try and get a better understanding for my own sake and my son. I am someone who finds it frustrating when I don't understand what's going on, and I have a questing mind.

[SV] Regardless of indications Calc can never be administered after Lyc. It is HIGHLY INIMICAL when Lyc has been given and it has acted.

[SV] I am not aware of any such remedy.

Ok, thanks Sameer.

Do you think we might still see further improvement from the lyco 30c? I think it has been 2 weeks now.

littlefinn last decade
Yes, I think we might see further improvements.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer. Well I think it's been about a week. It's hard to say whether we saw further improvements or not. He has certainly been very happy and lovely, but also it was his birthday this week and he has been spoilt rotten with new toys and fun activities, so his mood has been great regardless! He has been sleeping very well at night times too, but his day naps are not as long as they used to be and he is still waking up irritated most days. He is however, waking in a good mood in the morning much more often than he used to.

The current situation is a bit touch and go. He started to develop a runny nose yesterday evening, and coughed a little bit during the night. He also felt quite hot, like he had a low grade fever during the night and called out in his sleep a few times. Today he is just a bit clingy and coughing a bit with a runny nose. I suspect he has gotten another virus. Do you think we should give him something? I am a bit worried about it because we are going away at the end of the week for two weeks and he has been sleeping so well lately I was hoping it would continue. I want to have a nice, restful, enjoyable holiday!

There are a couple of things I wanted to mention to you that I have been observing lately and they may help you complete the case with some more solid indicators. These are behaviours that are reasonably new, since we gave the first dose of lyco (or thereabouts).

1. He is sleeping on his right side almost always, with his knees tucked up to his chest. He often puts his hands between his legs or puts his stuffed toys between his legs. He loves to put one hand under the pillow.
2. He really enjoys tucking his hands into things... between the cushions on the sofa, into pockets and folds of fabric. He will burrow his hand into my hand, or under my sweater if we are sitting together.
3. He is really obsessed and fascinated with water. He loves the bath, the shower, the tap, the washing machine, the lake. He loves the look of it and the feel of it. He talks about it all the time. He will tip water right over his own head and face and laugh. When I give him a bottle of water to drink, he can hardly resist trying to tip it out and make a mess with it. I am forever scolding him for deliberately spilling water or tipping it on his food. He just loves. it.

Anyway, I am keen to hear your thoughts about those things, and also if you think we should act right now while this new aggravation is developing.

littlefinn last decade
Actually on second thoughts, the water thing is not new, but it has been developing over time.

littlefinn last decade
Can you please describe the cough and runny nose in detail, as to what the aggravation/amelioration times, positions and triggers are.

sameervermani last decade
Nose is running clear so far. Seems to stop overnight. He sounds a bit blocked up, but not too bad.

Last night the cough was mostly wet sounding. Quite croaky, like a frog. He was aggravated last night between 10pm and midnight. It seems to be aggravated by crying and getting worked up emotionally.

During the day the cough sounds more dry and irritated, just like every other cough he's had. It doesn't have a particular trigger or amelioration just yet.

All in all, it is quite similar to other colds and viruses he has had recently.

It is early morning Tuesday here, and apart from the aggravation between 10-midnight last night, he is no worse today than he was yesterday.

Hi littlefinn,

Just 3 doses of Sulphur 6c, each dose being 1/2 teaspoon from 500 ml where 1 pellet is dissolved.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, thanks. So how close together can I give this? It can be difficult to give three doses because he is in daycare all day today and tomorrow, but if I can give them close together, I might be able to get it in before he goes to bed tonight, or early tomorrow morning.

littlefinn last decade
You can give 30 mins apart.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, thanks. I will try to give it tonight, even if I have to do it while he's asleep. :)

When do you want me to update you?

littlefinn last decade
3 days.

sameervermani last decade
Ok. Is sulphur fast acting? Are you expecting it to ease the cold/virus symptoms before they worsen? Will it also continueto help his overall condition?

littlefinn last decade
Hi again. Just thought you might like to know that he had the most awful reaction to having a shower tonight. He screamed his head off, completely distraught and hysterical all the way through being washed and for quite some time afterwards. It was really odd! I assume this further confirms sulphur as the right remedy to give right now.

littlefinn last decade
Yes, it does :)

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer. I know you said to wait and update in three days, but I guess I am really just looking for reassurance. It was a horrible night. He is just coughing so much and we hardly got any sleep. He was running a fever for a few hours - that came on about an hour after the 3rd dose of sulphur. His whole face was quite red and blotchy with a few little spots on his cheeks. His cough was very wet sounding and his nose was streaming. He had one solid block of sleep from 3-6am where he hardly coughed, but now it is early morning and he is just coughing non stop again. Now that he is up and about it is a dry cough again. His face looks normal again, he has no fever, and his nose isn't streaming, but I can hear that there is a lot of mucus and he's sneezing quite frequently. How long do you expect it should take for sulphur to start acting? It is so hard seeing him like this.

littlefinn last decade
Hi littlefinn,

Please give this at-least 48 hours before we decide to intervene. I would expect this to subside by then.

sameervermani last decade
Ok, thanks.

littlefinn last decade
Hi Sameer. I'm sorry, but we had to give him paracetamol tonight after dinner. It's been 24 hours since the dose of sulphur 6c and his condition has worsened. His cough is the same as it was last night - constant and relentless, but his mood has deteriorated badly. He has been crying on and off ever since we got him home from daycare. His carers were very worried about him today and that is unusual. They've seen him sick plenty of times before. He refused to eat dinner. I just don't know what to do. I know this has subsided before and you will probably read this and think I'm overreacting, but it is very, very hard to deal with this when the person you love most in the world is in pain and distress and looks at you desperately for help and you can't do anything. He must be so tired too, and so am I. I had to give him something to at least try and relax and ease any pain or headache that the cough may be causing.

littlefinn last decade
That's okay, let us wait for this a bit more.

sameervermani last decade
Hi Sameer. Quick update:
Last night was a little bit better. He slept in between coughing and as the night wore on, the periods of sleep got longer and periods of coughing got shorter.
This morning he is still coughing a lot, but not as much as last night. It is a strange sounding cough. More like a sneeze - hard to describe. He is coughing in single or double coughs, then a pause, and then he coughs again. His nose is running a little bit. He has a couple of spots on his face. His mood has improved since last night, but it's still not good. He is happy being held, cuddled and played with. He is very clingy and following me around the house wanting to be picked up. If I sit with him, he snuggles up to me seems quite happy, but if I put him down he gets very whiney and upset. He did eat breakfast and he is drinking water again, which is good.

He has bad breath and a sour odour about his body last night. He was a bit sweaty during the night too. He really smelt bad, which is not something I've ever noticed on him before. He also had a quite disgusting bowel movement yesterday evening.

That's about it for now.

littlefinn last decade
This will not last long.

Sweating, sour body odour as well as the bowel movement are pointing in the curative direction.

sameervermani last decade
That is good to know. I will update you again tomorrow.
