The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Dr. Murthy, Could you please guide this case ?

My 9 yr old son was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia 3 yrs back and underwent chemotherapy under protocol MCP 841. He has had a testicular relapse just 2 months after completing the 3 yr long treatment and is now under treatment using a more aggressive protocol REZ BFM 2002. The affected testicle had to be removed and will be irradiated shortly to kill any remaining cancer cells.
My queries to you, sir,are :
1. What is the scope of homeo in helping my child avoid further complications and reducing the toxicity of the drugs he is being exposed to ?
2. When should we start treating him homeopathically ?
3. Will administering the constitutional remedy to correct his central disturbance, help him in keeping the disease at bay ?

Any advice in this regard will be highly valued and thanx a tonne in advance. I had been reading the kind of answers you give and would greatly value your comments in this regard.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
I am not a doctor but a self learner of homeopathy.

However let me try to answer your queries to the best of my knowledge.

1. What is the scope of homeo in helping my child avoid further complications and reducing the toxicity of the drugs he is being exposed to ?

It depends on the skill of the homeopath. There are only a handful of skilled homeopaths who can handle such cases as on now.

One such person is Dr.A.U.Ramakrishnan ,Chennai,India.

2.When should we start treating him homeopathically ?

Both the chemptherapy and homeo treatment can go on concurrently.

3. Will administering the constitutional remedy to correct his central disturbance, help him in keeping the disease at bay ?

No. In cases like this the constitutional remedy is required only at the end of the treatment when the prognosis is good and the patient is free of the problem. What is required is a series of acute remedies, based on the symptoms the patient present.

I wish speedy recovery to your son. Now a days the cure rate of this problem is high and be optimistic.

Thanx a lot for the info sir, and I greatly appreciate and admire your spirit. In spite of being a self-learner, you try to apply your knowledge the right way, with great caution. Keep up the good work sir, and please keep me posted with any further info you might come across in this regard.
I try to remain positive and treat him as normally as I can, though the toxicity of these drugs in the long term, worry me terribly. What is your opinion about treatments (homeopathic), which opt for detoxing the system alongside the chemotherapy ?
Thanx a lot and may God always guide you and help you in changing many a lives for the better !!!

Detoxing the negative effects of chemotherapy can be tried by giving homeopathic medicines.

Homeopathic medicines won't interfere with the intended purpose of destroying the cancer cells through chemotherapy.

My child had normal appetite and bowel movements before he was diagnosed with ALL. But the chemotherapy, radiation, steroids etc; changed his total constitution and has totally ruined his digestive system. Now he keeps complaining of gas and nausea and food relieves this condition. Food is all that he can think of and he keeps eating all the time. His blood biochemistry always showed abnormally high values of SGPT etc; and subsequently he was under the tab udiliv for the liver for a long time..
Any insights, doc ?

Another thing I want to ask is about doing something for the health of his sex organs. since he is left with only one testicle, is there anything we can do for safeguarding it, so that he wouldn't suffer from any hormonal imbalances in the future.

I hope you understand my concern and thanx a tonne doctor for all the love and care with which you view this case.

Hi Zayed

I am sorry that I can't help any further other than the general information I gave.

You need the advice of an experienced homeopath who can see your son in person and decide on the appropriate medicines.

Please don't hope for and go for treatment through these forums.

Dear Mr. Murthy,

I would never treat/ medicate my child myself or through this forum becoz I know the fragility of his health. What I am looking for is information. You sounded very balanced in your understanding and dedication towards homeopathy, that I thought I will ask you my doubts about what can be done and cannot be done through homeopathy. I don't want you to prescribe medicines.

I had been researching the scope of alternate medicine becoz so many people say that it would help to solve conditions which allopathy cannot.

My son is being seen by a qualified homeopath since his relapse, who doesn't treat leukemia, but helps him to get over the side effects of chemotherapy and difficulties arising therefrom. I go by the prescriptions of this doc ALONE. but since I am a curious kind, I am exploring my understanding as well, so that I could ask his doc abt the dif possibilities.

We do not live in India and all the Indian homeopaths whom I spoke to had been criticising this approach, saying there are remedies which are meant for leukemia specifically and that he should be treated thus. But I am somehow comfortable and feel OK with this doc, that I feel for the time being, this might be the one that is best suited for him.

I began to research on the internet about the different approaches and thought would post my queries in the forum, so that knowledgeable people would share their inputs. And thatz what it's all about. I hope you understand me and I thank you very very much for all your time and inputs in this regard.

Dear Zayed

I can understand you and what you are presently doing is the best you can do.

You need doctors like AUR who specialise in cancer cases to confidently depend on homeopathy alone. Even they don't rule out chemo for certain cases and go for the concurrent therapy.

We have to think practically and do our best within the constraints we have and you are already doing that.

I wish all the best for your son.

Thank you very much sir, and we definitely think of putting him on homeopathic follow up medications once he has shown a remission status and your inputs have helped me tremendously to confirm that we are doing the right thing for our child. Rest is in the hands of God and I believe HE will guide us and take care of him.

Thank you ever so very much once again.
