recurrent laryngitis or croup

Dear experts,

My 2.5 year boy has been having recurrent (every 1.5 months mostly in winter & spring) laryngitis or what is called croup since the age of 1 year 2 months. we've seen many specialists physicians and they ve subscribed first liquid cortison which has been very effective but is i suppose dangerous for the child growth if taken recurrently. then the Dr. prescribed a preventive treatment using inhaled cortison last winter but still the laryngitis was ocurring every 1.5 months. then last spring the Dr. prescribed Singulair for 2 months and still no improvements. Only the liquid cortison is giving perfect results. Note that last winter and spring, my son was also prescribed antibiotics for 4 infections he had. The infection starts by a running nose (light yellow discharge) sometimes fever (around 38 degrees Celcius) then when he sleeps and around midnight the horseness cough starts and he wakes up hardly breathing and with panic that sometimes he vomits to feel better. We ve seen a homeopath that subscribed for him Sambucus 9CH 2 pellets per day and if there is croup 2 every 15 minutes for 2 hours then gradual spacing till symptoms go away. It worked once without being forced to give liquid cortison but we had to wait for 45 minutes till symtoms gradually disappeared and this was a scary experience. Still with the Sambucus the laryngitis was recurring every 1.5 months so we visited the homeopath again and now he's prescribed in addition to Sambuccus, lyphomyosot 15 drops daily, Ipeca 9CH 2 pellets daily & Poumon Histamine 9CH 2 pellets daily. Last week his nose was running for 1 day had 38 fever for a couple of hours only we continued the homeopathic treatment normally then the second day while sleeping the cough started but this time it was a thick (muccous) and repetetive cough spasmodic like the one during a bronchitis. I gave him Ipeca every 15 minutes for 2 hours nothin has changed then gave Sambuccus evry 15 mins for 1 hour also no amelioration then around 5 am was forced o give liquid cortison which had an effect after an hour when the cough become more spaced and the breathing made easier. The same day we took him to his pediatrician not homeopath and she told us that he has a tracheo-bronchitis this time. She prescribed an antibiotic (Zythromax) for 3 days, liquid cortison for 5 days and vantoline for 5 days. Now he's better with a bit of cough (with muccous generation. the reason i want an advice from u is that my son is being prescribed a lot of medecines, steriods, antibiotics and this is not good for him. However, the homeopathic treatment, in which i personnaly use for myself and is perfectly working, is not providing the right prevention from catching laryngitis (which i suspect to be from being exposed to cold air after changing from hot to cold as we live in the mountains and go down to the coast daily)plus it's not always working when he catches the infection. can u please provide me with your expertise and advice to help my child live a better condition with the least exposure to antibiotics and cortison.

Should i stop the Sambuccus, Ipeca and Poumon Histamine for those 15 days when i gave Dulcamara. Plus should i start now cause currently he is cured from the tracheo-bronchitis?

Dear asamya,
for permanent cure you can try weekly one dose of Morgan Bach 1M or every sunday for 1.6 year in between you can give him Hepar sulph 30 three times in a day (when ever requried continue for 3-4 days )

This is a really interesting articile as my son is now 2 and when he was about 20 months he had a cold which lead to an ear infection. 2 weeks later the ear drum tour a second time. 3 weeks later he had another cold and a few days later he had croup. He was also give liquid cortison and hit heavily with ventalin as it started to impact his breathing. We ended up in hospital with him as a result of the breathing. After this I took him to an iridologist and homoeopath. Iridology showed an iritiation over the liver area but no markings over the lungs. 1 day before his initial cold started i had him immunised for chicken pox. So the homoeopath started by treating the presenting symptoms and gave him Spongia 30C. After this he was treated consistutionally with Pulsatilla 30C. Although there was an improvement, it wasn't 100% and whenever the weather took a cold turn his cough would return. 2 months after the first bout of croup, he has a second bout. Personally i do not feel that he ever really recovered from the first bout as he was always a bit fragile. His symptoms seemed to be triggered by the cold air and so i am now trying him on Hepar Sulph. He has had 2 doses of cortison and is yet to have a third. I have just given him 3 doses of hepar sulph 30C about 2 hrs apart and for the first time since he got this bout of croup, he has slept through the night without a coughing fit. He still has that barking cough in the morning but there is definitely an improvement. I am hoping that the Hep Sulp is the answer but most importantly, i am not looking for a remedy to just get him through this bout of croup but i am looking for something that will treat whatever is causing it. It is my belief that multiple occurances of croup like this are probably the same issue just raising its head again as cortison just suppresses it and gets the child through. If the body has enough vitality it will throw off the same condition again as a symptom of the dis-ease it is experiencing. This wont go away until the cause is addressed - homoeopathically.
