Hello,

Thanks to everybody for the feedback! I'd like to ask your expert opinion on the following:

I've tried to read a little bit about the way homepathy works. If I understand it correctly, it's working by stimulating an accelerated immune system response. Is it correct?

I am wondering if there is a way to determine if my son's immune system is strong enough and can produce that expected response. If his immune system is weak already, would stimulating it make him feel worse?

Thanks in advance for your reponses!!!

STRAMONOIUM's action is as under :-

The entire force of this drug seems to be expended on the brain, through the skin and throat show some disturbance. Suppressed secretions and excretions. Sensation as if limbs were separated from body. Delirium tremens. Absence of pain and muscular mobility especially of muscles of expression and of locomotion. Gyratory and graceful motions. Parkinsonism.

Mind.--Devout, earnest, beseeching and ceaseless talking. Loquacious, garrulous, laughing, singing, swearing, praying, rhyming. Sees ghosts, hears voices, talks with spirits. Rapid changes from joy to sadness. Violent and lewd. Delusions about his identity; thinks himself tall, double, a part missing. Religious mania. Cannot bear solitude or darkness; must have light and company. Sight of water or anything glittering brings on spasms. Delirium, with desire to escape (Bell; Bry; Rhus).

Bell,. & Rhus are thought when there is desire to escape. In this case it is 'NO'

He is NOT arsenicum (that woman with OCD had anxiety, panic attacks, fear of death but was restless, always cold, drank small amounts at a time...)

are you saying he fears something dreadful might happen?

i wonder if his fear of stopping to breathe could be read as fear of suffocationg covered by phos. and stram. among others.

Astra2012 last decade
BlackSea - please do not rush with remedy- it is then hardeder to cure, if it further messes the picture.
just be sure of it first.

does he like/dislike solitude?

Hom.rem. stimulate vital force to heal. is his vf compromised? = low vitality?

Astra2012 last decade
Also-it started when he was 13. do you think it started with puberty?

Astra2012 last decade
Thank you for the feedback. I am very grateful for my son's case reviews!

My son's obsessions and compulsions are changing with time. A couple of years ago his concern with breathing was his # 1 fear. I would say he had a phase when he thought about the actions that would normally come naturally (swallowing, breathing, etc.). His fear was that he might forget to think about taking a breath and as a result he would stop breathing. This fear is probably # 3 on his list today.

His # 1 fear today is a fear of becoming incompetent or disable in any way. Also he is afraid that he is never going to have a sense of normalcy again.

I would NOT say it started when he turned 13. His condition got very bad after he turned 13, but he had some symptoms before as well (even in first grade he traced letters in certain way many times, he had a specific ritual of exiting his room, he spent 6-7 hours doing his homework when his teacher gave no more than 30 minutes of homework to the first graders).

Thanks again!!!

you say that his o/c change with time-do they change with time of the day, season, weather?

do you know if he had any fears or anxieties before 13?

could HE say what upsets him most in other people/in himself?

what about that solitude?

Astra2012 last decade
Well, I would say his obsessions/compulsions just gradually change over a long period of time. The change is not related to the time of the day, season or weather. For example, last summer he had to turn in four directions and count while looking at the door before existing the kitchen. This summer he has a different ritual: he looks at four corners in the kitchen and makes a big step forward while existing the kitchen. He doesn't have any less mental and physical rituals, they just might be different from what he was used to do a while ago.

I know he could get pretty anxious even before 13, but it never occurred to me to ask him about specific fears when he was little.

Anything abnormal (based on his personal definition of abnormal) upsets him the most. He can just randomly think about something abnormal, or somebody around him might say or joke about it, or he can see it on TV, in the store, on the street, and it would make him extremely anxious to the point where he is having a hard time to go on with his daily routine. His personal definition of abnormal is very wide though which means it's hard to predict what he might think of as abnormal.

He is getting very frustrated with himself for not being able to snap out of his repetitive thinking. This fills his whole day and he can hardly do anything else.

I would NOT say he wants to be alone, but he is very anxious around practically anybody. He knows that people can see his weird behavior and it makes him NOT to get involved in even small talks. As a result he doesn't have any friends. Any social activities are pretty hard on him.

I hope I didn't miss anything important. Please let me know if I didn't give a clear and complete answer.

Thank you!!!

BlackSea last decade
you say:
He is getting very frustrated with himself for not being able to snap out of his repetitive thinking.

Does it mean that he is fully aware that he has this problem?

You say that last summer he had different ritual-when did it change?why?any other changes at that time?

does he react in any way to thunderstorm?

Astra2012 last decade
That's exactly right, he is very aware of his problem, he just can not do anything about it.
The changes in mental and physical rituals are very gradual and it's hard to point out when it happened. Not all rituals have changed though. Some stay the same. But they always take up his whole day. As far as other changes: there were no other changes in his mental condition.
He doesn't seem to care about a thunderstorm or any other weather condition. He feels pretty bad if it's either a perfect sunny day or a rainy cold day. He does notice though if it's a beautiful day, but more in a sense of not being able to enjoy it like other people can.

Please feel free to let me know if I am not providing the answers you are looking for. Thanks again!!!

BlackSea last decade
Please ask him if he has any physical sensations. Also try to make him disclose what makes him (even a bit)worse and better. Also ask him about that thunderstorms.

When the homeopath sees patient in person he/she has a lot more information (like: does he keep eye contact, how does he answer, etc.) OCD is definitely curable with homeopathy, but so far I haven't seen any indications to favor any remedy of the 3: phos. bell. stram.
Your best bet would be a visit to hom.- esp. that we have no way of telling who (you or Ura) says what.

Astra2012 last decade
I do not advise you to go higher than 30c, and wet dose is better than dry in that case. (and LM potencies would be best, but they are rarely available).

Also, I think Ura would benefit from EFT - the free manual is here:
blank">http://www.emofree.com/
and Basic recipe from it is all you need.

Astra2012 last decade
I want to thank everybody who reviewed my son's case and provided the feedback. You recommendations are very much appreciated. As always please free to share your opinion as well as concerns.

BlackSea last decade
BlackSea - if he is sensitive wrong remedy can really make a mess.

Right remedy has all his symptoms ((not the other way around: it is impossible that he has all the remedy symptoms) and the more specific they are the better (that arsenicum OCD woman additionaly and 'fortunately' had also sore throat: it was burning but felt better when she drank hot tea. Burning pain relieved by heat is a keynote of arsenicum. Often such additional symptoms give a clue).

Meanwhile you should rally try EFT with him. The link I posted even had OCD on the home page. here are additional free videos if you still wonder how it is done.
http://www.tapping.com/

i know it works!

Astra2012 last decade
Thank you very much for the link! The video is great. I'll try to get my son to at least watch it.

I suspect his skepticism might get in a way though. He did try 2 years of therapy (including behavioral therapy and intensive therapy in a hospital). He also tried breathing, running and acupuncture for a year. Because nothing (including the medication) improved his condition even a little, he doesn't believe that anything would help him.

He might have a better chance with EFT if he could get some relief with his obsessive thoughts first. OCD is a mental disorder after all and in his case the cause was probably the childhood virus that affected the brain. I'll see what I can do :-) Thanks again!!!

BlackSea last decade
It is now over 20 days and we are unable to decide what to give.

This is how a patient looses faith in Homeo and switches to other Therapy - may not be for cure but some thing is being done for the treatment.

Rajendra last decade
BlackSea-one of the first phrae you and Ura might tap for is:
Even though I do not believe this tapping will help me, so many therapies have failed
I love and accept myself, I'm a great person anyway etc

I don't blame you or Ura for being skeptical. After so many disappointments you need some miracles. Homeopathy provides them but they can be instant only in acute cases, in chronic, such as this, it could be very time-consumming.

I really think that EFT would be great not only for Ura but also for you. (who doesn't have negative beliefs, emotions, memories?)

(btw: Rajendra - I really do not understand your point. There were quite a few homeopathic prescritions here, even yours... First and most important is cure, nothing else matters)

Astra2012 last decade
mottos of EFT are:
*it often works when nothing else will

**try it on everything

for Ura:
tap Karate Chop point and say 3x 'Even though I keep having these thoughts...'
Do few rounds, see how it makes you feel, then decide if you want to go on with it.

I became such a believer in EFT few weeks ago: my filling went off but I was kind of slow to go to dentist. Meanwhile I found EFT and was tapping on everything but that cavity; before an appoitment I only tapped away my anxiety - but the dentist found nothing. The cavity was gone!

Astra2012 last decade
btw I'm really not into New Age jumbo mumbo.
I am scientist (microbiologist) for years interested (and practising!) healing by many modalities - homeopathy being one of them.

However, all of them (including homeopathy and EFT) work through body energy (vital force).

Astra2012 last decade
I will definetely try it myself first and hopefully my son will get interested. Thank you again!!!

I just want to give an update on what remedies we've tried for my 18 year old son's mental condition so far.

The first recommendation that we wanted to try was BELLADONNA and PHOSPHORUS.
My son's blood test showed that his OCD could be related to the brain inflammation during enciphilitis that he had in early childhood after being sick with the virus.

As it was suggested we started with BELLADONNA 1M one dose every week for 3 weeks. Then after a gap of two weeks, we took PHOSPHORUS 1M one dose per week for 3 weeks (the doses in empty stomach early morning; no food or water for one hour after taking the dose; for one dose, take some 4 drops of the remedy in 2 teaspoon of water and sip it slowly; dont take anything of a strong taste and smell on the day you take the remedies, like coffee, onions, garlic, too much sweet or sour, mint etc.

We waited for 2 months but did not see any changes in his condition.

The next remedy that we tried was CALC CARB 10M (1 dose of 3 to 4 drops of the remedy mixed with 20 ml of water; sip the mixture slowly; take this in empty stomach at 5 a.m and go back to sleep for the next 2 hours; do not wash the mouth or take anything for the next two hours).

It's been over two weeks and his mental condition stays the same with the following symptoms:

- Talking to himself (mental rituals), can not stop doing this because it comes from his brain continuously going over thoughts
- Obsessive thoughts throughout the day (including thoughts of mental/ physical defects or disablilities, thoughts of bad behavior, such as being rude, whether it involves other people or himself, ect.)
- Severe anxious feeling in the stomach throughout the day
- Fearful about his health and projected self-image
- Picking skin on the finger knuckles or on the lips (nervous habit)
- Gesture of shooting a bullet in the head (projecting feelings of anxiety or annoyance with the condition)
- Pessimistic mood (does not believe any treatment would help)
- Severe sweating when faced or just thinks of the slightest stressful situation
- Difficulties to think clearly and concentrate throughout the day (as a result of constant mental compulsions)
- Kissing knuckles (nervous habit)
- Spends an excessive amount of time on some daily routines (30 minutes in the bathroom, 40 minutes brushing his teeth in the morning, ect.)
- Lack of confidence in facing people, making a conversation over the phone or in person (with anyone outside the family)
- No interest in finding treatment or talking to other sufferers
- Easily angered and irritated with comments or behavior toward him from others
- Feeling very stressed when the obsessive thoughts persist even after the rituals are completed
- Constantly counting as a part of the rituals
- Constantly ordering events, objects, ideas (mental rituals- feeling of a need to focus exclusively on a certain thought or idea, during which all other activity has to be temporary stopped)
- Strive very hard to recall the details of events and this bothers him very much
- At times, avoids interacting with people (when in a bad state)
- Does not enjoy many things
- Goes to bed very late and wakes up early
- Does not go out for fun, stays home most of the time
- Does not always care about personal hygiene (skips showers, does not floss, does not brush his hair because of other things, such as obsessive thoughts, on his mind)
- Lacks initiative, drive or motivation (does not try to find a job, didn't care what college to attend because of fears and preoccupations)
- Does not clean up his room

The next remedy we are going to try is STRAMONIUM 200C one dose every sunday morning for three weeks.

We are very greateful for the feedback we are getting. We'll keep you posted about how things are going.

Note: unfortunately I couldn't get my son to start on EFT.
