not sstrep throat?

About the start of January my tonsils became inflamed and my throat very sore. It hurt to eat and normal swallowing was painful too.
I went to doctor and the diagnosis (presumably) was step throat. (no culture taken)
I was given a ten day supply of amoxicilan (sp?). About halfway through that supply my throat felt better. I finished the dose and all was well. Then, about Two weeks later it was back. I went to doctor again. This time they took a culture and again prescribed a Ten day supply of amoxicilan. Meantime the culture results came back negative for strep.
Again, about halfway through the supply my throat felt better. Here is my question. When I examine my throat with a flashlight and a mirror I see that my tonsils look like the surface of the moon. They have reddish bumps with a white center. (almost like an open sore)
There is no pain, at least not yet, and no bad breath.
I think that it might be tonsillitis but my wife says no.
HELP!
TIA, M

do you mean continue using the amoxicilin? If so, for some reason I was only given a Ten day supply.
I am going to see Doctor again today. What should I say to them in regards to Tonsilitis?
Also how can I check my nitric acid levels?
Thank you.
