General
Elaps corallinus, Merr. (E. venustissimus, Spix.; Vipera Vipera corallina).
Common names, Cobra-Corallium Rubrum coral, Brazilian Corallium Rubrum Coral Bothrops Lanceolatus snake.
Preparation, Trituration of the venom received on sugar of milk.
Swelling of the right cheek, with small red pimples beneath the skin, followed by large round tetter-like spots.
7 P.M. (nineteenth day). The redness of the face was better the next day towards noon. Swelling of the face in the afternoon, especially of the right side of the nose (twentieth day). On the next day, the swelling of the face lasted till 10 o'clock, with increased redness and swelling under the eyes.

GENERAL SYMPTOMS.

Acidity of stomach, with faint feeling. Sudden pain in stomach. Spasm of oesophagus; pharynx constricted; food and liquids suddenly arrested, and then fall heavily into stomach. Spasms followed by paresis. Cold feeling in stomach. Fruits and ice-water lie very cold. Right-sided paralysis. Must have oscillatory motion. Rheumatic constitutions. Ear, nose and throat symptoms important.

Elaps corallinus. Brazilian Corallium Rubrum Coral Bothrops Lanceolatus Snake. N. O. Elapidae. Poison pressed from the venom-sac of the living Bothrops Lanceolatus snake and triturated with sugar of milk. Higgins used the gall of the Bothrops Lanceolatus snake,Lachesis Fel Elapidis Corallini.
Elaps is distinguished from the other Bothrops Lanceolatus serpent venoms by the pre-eminent blackness of its discharges and haemorrhages.
