Looking for help with 6 week old baby

Hello,

My baby is 6 weeks old. He has seemed fussy from the very beginning. He never acted like a sleepy newborn. He is wanting to nurse all the time and, essentially, if he isn't nursing, he is crying. He will fall asleep nursing on me and in a sling wrap. Any time I try to put him down in a swing or bouncer chair, he cries within minutes. He sleeps in our bed, so I don't even try to put him down to sleep anymore at night. When I have tried a bassinet, he wakes up crying. The car seat is the worst- he screams, face turns bright red, and gets sweaty from screaming. Holding him isn't enough to settle him- he pushes his feet out, as though to get away. He generally seems like he is in pain unless he is nursing. He arched his back, often has hiccups, grunts a lot, and sounds like there is liquid coming up but I don't know. Is this silent reflux? If it is something else and I treat him with Nat Phos 6X, could it cause any problems? Please help me.

Thank you so much!!!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Hello Dear,

From your description it looks acid-reflux.
Instead medicating your child why don't you have natphos 6x 4 tabs three times a day for few days. After breast feeding the child make sure the child head is elevated. No need to give your child anything except mother's milk for few months. Keep child close to your chest and talk to him or sing for him this will make mother and child bond more strong which will help child in overcoming fear factor..... keep me updated.

Thank you so much. I have ordered the Nat Phos and will try right away. Do I need to give the dose right after feeding? The only way my baby will fall asleep is after feeding. I often leave him to sleep on my chest; is that ok? It leaves his head slightly elevated... throughout the night he is on the mattress beside me; is that ok with the treatment? It's really the only way we both get some sleep right now.

Yes, Dear ! You are moving perfectly fine, just remember , you have to take Natphos. Take food that are less acidic, avoid food that are using preservatives... You need to keep in mind : what you take, baby gets it thru milk.

You said, "leave baby on chest for sleeping"
As long as babies stomach faces towards roof it is fine ....

Keep me updated.

Nikkie.

It has arrived. Do I dilute the pills in breast milk and give by syringe? It seems like a lot to dilute. How much milk do I use?

Thank you,

Celine

Is it safe to just crush them and put in his mouth?

In the joedelivera prescription, he recommends only half a tablet before and after feed; why do you recommend 4 tablets?

How many should I be taking?

Thank you so much

I said "You have to take" , 4tabs in your mouth it will get dissolved in no time...

I am confused. 1. Are you saying both baby and I take 4 tabs 3 times per day?

2. I find it difficult to use the syringe with baby. Can I crush the tablet and put it directly in his mouth?

:
3. Does it have to be taken during a feed or can I give it at any point throughout the day?

Good Morning Cloiselle673,

This medicine is for you. The residual effect of this medicine will move to baby thru your milk. And which is completely safe for baby. At this stage baby is very small so just avoiding.

As mentioned in your trail messages, no need to use syringe if the quantity is grain size and in powdered form. Rightly said by Joe, you can also dissolve 1/2 tab in one tb spoon water and give it to baby using dropper. Four to five drops is sufficient. But as said, I am avoiding this for baby and would like you to take 4tabs of Natphos 6x half an hour before each of your main meal.

Keep me updated plz.

Blessings,
Nikkie

Thank you SO much for clarifying. I misunderstood and thought it was to be given to baby. I will keep you updated. Thank you again so much. This is much easier for me to take than to try to get it into baby's mouth 😊

Hello,

I have been taking Nat Phos 6x for one week. I have seen huge improvements, with yesterday being one of baby's calmest days. Suddenly, today he is back to acting like he was before. Very irritable, crying a lot, and not settling. I haven't done anything differently that I can think of.

Thank you,

Celine

Hi Nikkie,

I started to see improvements in my baby- less crying; less pushing away with his legs but these behaviours are increasing again. He wants to nurse constantly and only falls asleep when there is a nipple in his mouth. It seems like he is uncomfortable all the time and maybe uses nursing to feel better? Would you suggest giving him the pills directly? Is there anything else to try?

Thank you,

Celine

Hi Nikkie,

I was seeing improvements for a while but baby seems to be in pain again. Crying and pushing away behaviors have returned. Any ideas? Can I give the pills to baby directly?

Thank you,

Celine

Hmm I see that one. Okay there were improvements but now baby is back to crying all the time, fussing, and seeming in pain. Can I increase the dose or give tablets to baby? He wants to suck constantly and will only sleep with my nipple in his mouth. Won't accept a pacifier.

Thank you.

Hello Celine

This is an alternate opinion.

In colics when babies arch their backs, it's likely that Dioscorea will help. On the contrary if they bend double towards the front moving the legs upward then colocynthis is likely to help. These are classical characteristic symptoms of these medicines.

Thanks Nikkie for the support.

Celine

Most people think Nat. phos. as a panacea for baby colic. It's not a 'be all end all' medicine for reflux or colic issues.

Chamomilla is another medicine worthy of trying in these problems.
