Mammary Tumors in Dog

My saluki has developed six tiny bb sized mammary nodules following a heat season. I have read the recommendation in George MacLeod's book "Homeopathic Treatment of Dogs" to use the appropriate remedy + a single dose of Carsinosin 200C. I am concerned about using that high of a dose and wonder if it can cause cancer. I have been giving her Conium & Phytolacca for a few weeks and tumors are still the same. Should I go ahead and add the Carcinosin? Trying to do what I can in lieu of surgery. Any thoughts?

This is a 9yr. old bitch in good health. She is fed Nutro Natural Choice kibble with cooked meat & veges. Takes COQ10 50 mg, Fish Oil, Glucosamin/Chondroitin, Vit E200 units & doggie multi vitamin. She is a champion Saluki and has never been bred or spayed. Ears are in good condition. Eats good, drinks water (mountain spring water from well). Lives in the mountains with pure air. Sweet disposition and likes to please. Had a surgery about 6mos. ago (with anesthesia) to suture a neck bite from another of our Salukis. She had another small mammary tumor 4 yrs ago and had two mammary glands removed surgically at that time.(over kill, I thought later) These nodules that she now has are on the right side all in an area of about two inches between the last and next gland up.Thanks for helping me, I LOVE this dog!

what reason give using Glucosamin/Chondroitin supplement?

Please read my posting on natural animal health regarding diet. Raw is best, always. Raw diets are known to stimulate the immune sytem enough to erradicate cancer and tumors. Cancer/tumors take over when the immune system is bogged down.

Are you aware that unspayed females that do not breed are at high risk for developing mammary tumors?

The glucosamin/chrondrotin is being given as a preventative for age-related arthritis or joint problems. (she doesn't have this)I am aware that being unspayed runs the risk of mammary tumors, however the spaying itself runs a risk of other complications. Have talked with my veterinarian about this and he felt it best not to spay and just surgically remove any tumors that may appear. I have had dogs for 30 years and am very interested in alternative/holistic animal health. Thank you if you can contibute to my learning.

no soy products is to be had by dog(s)--not sure if brand used ""Nutro Natural Choice kibble"" has such....inteferes with proper mineral assimilation---if soy in food mentioned then --will find calc -carbonica 30c single dose required and change of food source

enzymes needed for proper diet obtained from buried bones/meat..this dog needs..if dog gets free run most like gets this already...

I have not given her any vaccinations for about 8 years except rabies which I must do for county license. She had one 5/05 and I gave her Thuja following it. I hate having to give the rabies shots. She has had anal gland problems and had an infection a few years ago. Other than that, very healthy. Blood work excellent. Small mammary tumor removed four years ago. Teeth kept clean & brushed. The kibble is lamb/rice only no soy or perservative. She did take an antibiotic with the neck wound and was stressed by the injury. She has free run on an acre of fenced lawn, eats grass occasionally, so may not get the proper enzymes. Spends most of the time in the house sleeping on the bed. I did purchase some Kali Iod today per recommendation from another reply to my post. Have not started it yet. Why the "no carcinosin".

carcinosin? there is no symptomatic reason other than suspect that tumors are cancer related--..or suspect that cancer in genetic background--that is guess work
...

what exact symptoms associated with anal gland problem?

how was anal gland infection treated?

John Stanton last decade
I suspected an anal gland problem because she was scooting and licking her bottom. Took her to Vet and had them expressed. There was some sign of infection. She was given an antibiotic (I declined the steroid internal meds) Now, if I suspect any issue in that area, I treat with Hepar Sulph. Has not had a problem since. Had them checked 6 mos. ago. They felt some scar tissue but otherwise normal. She is a sweet girl, very docile. I guess, that the carcinosin is sometimes recommended because the tumors are often malignant. I did not have a biopsy on the one removed. It was very small and lymph glands were normal.(4 yrs ago.) I hope that I can get these nodules to go away...surgery is so hard on her but if they continue to enlarge, I will not hesitate to have them removed while they are still small, in case they are malignant.

start treatment single dose sulphur 30c--no repetition to be given in morning before feeding...also keep watchful--if any anger pent up sulph brings out--no sweets AT ALL..

include buried bones in diet--give fresh bones/meat and allow dog do as will in open space mentioned...instinct...

no more Glucosamin/Chondroitin in diet--may need cut back -or even stop vitamins---but not yet --

keep this site informed
