The ABC Homeopathy Forum

For HomeoDr Please?

Hi Homeodr,
Could I get your opinion on this please? Rhus Tox has been suggested, along with Lachesis,
But my main concern is that with rhus, the pain travels down, and Lachesis doesn't look super fitting, only semi.
Would love to have your input if you can!! Thank you!!
Here's the story:

I'm looking for suggestions that would fit my husbands symptoms. He's been dealing with some crazy stuff for a while and conventional drs are only making it worse. The tension has been going on for almost two years now....

He is a 33yo tall, muscular guy, he's got food allergies to eggs, mushrooms, yeast, and cane sugar. His body breaks out in cystic acne when he eats these things, plus constant diarrhea and bad gas. He has a history of drug abuse...OxyContin and Meth....(the last use being a few months ago, before that a year.)

His main issue is a severe tension in his gluteal muscles--it travels from scrotum/anus, to gluteal and lumbar, and continues up the back and neck over his head.
The tension and pain is so great he self medicates with alcohol every night just to keep it at bay. The MD's have him on anti-anxiety meds and anti-depressants....that's all they know how to do(suppress). But it's not working.
He says that during the day the tension is not very bad at all...while he is working (strenuous physical labor) or while he is lying down it's not so bad. When he stands still it builds, and fast. He becomes very irritable and negative/pessimistic with the pain. And impatient/snappy.
He has told me that very occasionally at night when sleeping in bed he will awake to the sensation of fluid being released from the anus, but there is nothing when he checks.

Secondarily, he has a constant paranoia that he has been dealing with since he was 18 and started dating. This was before any drug use.
He feels people are talking about him in secret. When he's alone in the house he imagines voices whispering outside the door or in the next room and believes there is truly someone talking about him or trying to mess with him. He feels that there is always an ulterior motive, or a secret being kept from him. Something that will cause great ruin. A sense of impending doom or danger.
He fears that I am unfaithful, or will be. And always tries to catch me in something. When there is a suspicion he won't rest until he checks whatever it is and sees for sure that it is not.

But priority is the tension issue, if they must be taken separately.

I really hope you can take a look at this for him. He is also very sensitive to homeopathic medicines, so I/he doesn't want to mess around unless it's a really good matching remedy.

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Can you elaborate more about the 'tension in the muscles'problem. What do you exactly mean by tension? Is there any pain, tenderness or any other sensations?

Also this kind of muscular problems can be due to drug abuse. Unless he stops taking these drugs it is difficult to get rid of this kind of muscular tension.

He describes the tension as "clenching". His glut muscles are literally clenched as tight as possible; he cannot get them to relax.
One night he came home from work and in some humor told me, "my butt is clenching so tight it feels like it will pop."

It is extremely painful. Throbbing.
I believe he has mentioned soreness-- as though he has been working out too much.
The tension and pain travels up his back and neck, over his head and can give him headaches. He does not let it get that bad (staves it off with a good buzz).

Yes, he knows the drugs caused it, and he is not using them any longer.

Rhus tox covers only the physical symptoms and it acts superficially.

Lachesis and Hyoscyamus can be indicative in this case. Lachesis and Hyos are quite similar in terms of suspicious nature.
The only difference between Hyos and Lachesis is Hyos get suspicious due to betrayal feeling and hence it is difficult for him to trust anyone. There is no such feeling in Lachesis.

What authority do you use for material medica? I am looking at

hyos-4.htm " rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">http://www.homeoint.org/allen/h/hyos-4.htm

And all I see is basically 'hysteria' which doesn't seem quite right....from my point of view, anyhow.
Could you point me to a better source?

Based on my experience I have suggested Hyoscyamus as one of the differential remedy for your husband.
Most of the materia medica you will find delirious state or maniacal state of Hyoscyamus being mentioned however this remedy can be useful for other than manical problems.

I have repertorized this case and came to 2 remedies -
Repertory used Synthesis repertory 8.1
Rubrics takes are-
1) Suspicious, talking about her, people are
2) Delusion voices hearing

I have learned this remedy from my practice so cannot direct you to particular materia medica for reference.
Most of the authors have talked about Hyoscyamus in delirious state which I feel is not the initial stage of the disease. However you can also read this remedy from Nash Materia Medica or Farrington's Materia Medica.

Okay. Thank you. :)
I wasn't questioning your judgement, I am just learning and gathering information.
I understand that a lot of the scary symptoms of a remedy are a "worst case" so thank you for assuring me of that.

Hi again,
Wondering if I could solicit your opinion once more/pick your brain....

My husband has just told me some more symptoms that point even more strongly to Hyo. So that's great-- I'm wondering though, with a sensitive person would it be best to start with 30c? Also considering the intensity of his symptoms (pretty high) I am reading some medicines act better at one potency or another....
What would you suggest?

Start with 30c potency and single dose first. If he seems to be sensitive to 30c then LM potency should be safer to go with..
