The ABC Homeopathy Forum

Forum homeopaths, please help baby

Please help me figure out what to do next. My son who is a year old has had a rash for over two months. It is affecting mostly his bum, there is a large irregularly shaped red raised patch on the back side. It is intensely itchy, as he scratches it every chance he gets. It is unaffected by diapers, and no creams have helped. The cheeks on his face are also red on and off, but that has been around much longer. His sleeping is also poor, as he wakes multiple times a night and it is difficult to put him down for naps and at night. For both these issues, it was suggested that we try sulphur 30c, after which the rash seemed less red, but not less itchy. Then, phos 30 - no change to the rash, but he seemed to not be able to sleep during the day at all and was cranky, but slept better for two nights, after which he stopped sleeping at night. The next remedy was thuja 30, with no effect on the rash, nor sleeping, but now he has developed an incredibly pathetic sad cry, especially when he is tired or hungry. He cries when he is disappointed at not getting toys, or being set down, etc. it is the pathetic cry that is the issue. He is also arching his back when he does that, sometimes so much that he loses balance, can lie on the floor as if for a temper tantrum, except it is slow and pitiful, and is often not satisfied with what he is asking for. Already tried puls 30 with no effect. Is this some kind of miasm coming through? We treated him with tuberc a while back (after calc carb brought out aggressive and anxious behaviour), but that behaviour was very different. Please, help!

This is just a forum. Assume posts are not from medical professionals.
Try giving him one tab of Nat phos 6x. You can
dissolve it in a tablespoon of water. Give
him 3 doses with 6 hour gaps. Report what
you notice after this.

Simone, can you explain your thinking?

Dora14 9 years ago
Nat phos cell salt is given for rose colored rash.
Arching the back many times indicates acidity
problems.

Cell salts are mild and gentle, and since they
work on the cell metabolism itself to rebalance,
Many times I like to give those first to see
if things can resolve thru them.

I use them on my family first, and then go to
a remedy if needed.

Thanks, Simone. I am building a knowledge base of my own :)

We need more help. He seems to arch his back a lot less, but no effect on the rash, and the pathetic crying is unbearable.he cries like the sorrow of the whole world whenever I am not holding him, especially when he is hungry or tired. Please help us with further ideas.

Try 2 doses of Chamomilla 30c.

Take 2 pills and dissolve in 2 tablespoons of water.

Give him a tsp. for a dose- squirt it in his mouth if
you think he may spit it out.

Chamomilla is also good for colic and gas ( the arching )
and it fits what he is doing now.

Piteous moaning because he cannot have what he wants***
Child can only be quieted when carried about and petted constantly****
mind; emotions, feelings, attitude, disposition; unhappy; inconsolable;***mind; emotions, feelings, attitude, disposition; sensitive, oversensitive; children;****

Watch after one dose- if he seems better then wait till
he has a relapse to give the second.

If he seems worse- that would be aggravation and should
then get better. Wait and see if he then gets better
and again , no second dose unless he relapses.

If nothing happens, give the second dose after 6 hours.

Report what goes on the next day.

Best,

Simone

I thought chamomilla was for angry cries, and pulsatilla for pitiful moaning. We had a more typical chamomilla behaviour with obvious teething before, and it helped. This is different, so I thought it may be pulsatilla, which already did not work.
I see that the description may be fitting. It also says smth about putting head back. This is surprising.

Dora14 9 years ago
Very slightly better after the second dose. Relapsed in a few hours, so gave another dose. It was better for a few hours and then started reversing. More doses?

Dora14 9 years ago
Hi Dora, Give him 3 more doses
with 5 hour gaps. See if the
gap time holds longer.

Report after a day of this.

Regards, Simone

I was all set to write that this has not held any longer, but today was a reasonably good day, so I will wait longer and see.

He still has an itchy rash and is still not sleeping well, so I am still looking for solution to these issues. Thank you

Hi Dora,

you have a lot going on.

On the baby-
What is his mood and state
after the 3 doses? What percentage better?

How many teeth does he have now? Is it possible he
is cutting some new ones?

Is his rash similar to your daughters rash?

Hi, the mood and behaviour is much better. There are 7 teeth. He is definitely cutting new teeth. One just came through a few days ago, and another looks like it will start growing very soon. The rash is completely different from that of my 4 y o daughter. The rash is a large somewhat scaly and raised patch on his bum, very itchy. Became less red after sulpher 30, but not less itchy. We also cut out citrus fruit, and it seemed to slowly get better after that, but is still very itchy and not gone. Nobody else has a citrus allergy. The whiny crying has decreased by 70% and head throwing back as well. He almost never throws himself on the floor. Wakes up perhaps one fewer time at night, but still several. No improvement on putting down to sleep. Cradle cap is back on top of his head and behind the ears. It cleared after he had calc carb and calc phos, not sure which one.
Seems rather jealous of other kids having my attention. Stick his face in my face and babbles when I concentrate on talking to someone else. And has a peculiar habit of wanting to keep multiple stick like things in his hands, like markers, spoons, pencils. Must be several in each hand and really screams when we try to extricate any.

Hi Dora,

For right now, you can give him the Chamomilla when he is having
outbursts or seems to be going backwards.

I would wait until "these" teeth are fully erupted and that condition has
stabilized for a time before anything is taken for the rash. You can
use calendula cream, ointment on it for now and see if that helps.

On your other thread, about you, Rishimba put in his form.
Evocationer is a professional homeopath, and Rishimba is a homeopathic
Dr.

Hi, Simone, I cannot possibly wait for another year until all 20 teeth are in to do something for the rash. I have been using calendula cream for the last several weeks, which does not help. Thanks for clarifying about the forum homeopaths

Dora14 9 years ago
Hi Dora,

I did not mean for all the teeth to be in-
just this episode.

simone717 9 years ago
Thanks, Simone, but that does not make any sense. The rash did not start with teething, nor does it change in relation to teeth. This next tooth is only logically coming soon, it could be months before it is out. Plus it is itchy and the kid is miserable. And sleeping is a big problem. I really need some help on at least one of these fronts.

Dora14 9 years ago
Hi Dora,

In homeopathy you do one remedy at a time.

He is in an acute situation due to the emerging teeth.

Per Dr. Judyth Ullman- a famous homeopath and teacher:

"The most common symptoms of teething are pain in teeth and
gums, drooling, redness and swelling of gums, fever, changes
in stool, restless, fussy, and difficulty in SLEEPING."

Her list of symptoms for Chamomilla-

*the most common med for teething in fussy, irritable babies
*Tantrums with screaming and hitting
*Hypersensitivity to pain
*Inconsolable
*Wants to be carried everywhere
*Contrary
*Capricious
*Quarrelsome
*diarhhea or green chppy diarhhea
WORSE- AT NIGHT
BETTER- being carried or rocked
_____________

So if you feel he is better from the Chamomilla, that
can be stopped and another remedy chosen for the rash.
You can also give him not more than two cups of Chamomille tea
a day to help out as you can do this while on another remedy.

_____Questions on the rash_______

Describe his tongue and is there a coating on it or teeth
marks on it.

How much sugar type things does he have every day?
If you stopped citrus and he is better this could be a thrush
type related rash__________

Does anything make it better, like cold water, being uncovered
or warm covers? Or do any of these make it worse?

Is there any discharge at all from the rash and if so
describe it.

Does the child cry more when wet or soiled?

Does he crave sour foods like like oranges?

simone717 9 years ago
Hi, tongue is clear and pink, no marks and no coating. He likes to stick the tongue out.
Sugar - yoghurt, fruit and berries, most days
Being covered seems to make the rash worse, calendula cream makes the skin softer, but the rash slowly became better only after eliminating citrus
No discharge, it is dry and flakey, esp when scratched
Being soiled does seem to bother him more
I don't think he craves sour foods. He has a big appetite in general, and eats a wide variety of foods, drinks lots as well. Really likes berries, grapes, really most things are acceptable

Hi dora,

Please get Graphites 30c. Take 2 pills and dissolve in a couple tablespoons of
water, and a tsp. out of this is one dose.

Give him 3 doses, 4 hours apart. If you notice after dose 1 or dose 2 there
is improvement or worsening, then stop at that dose.

If you notice improvement then wait till things get worse again before another dose.

Keep using the calendula until this is gone.

I would eliminate fruit and berries for a week and see if that helps.

If after 3 tries with the graphites, nothing happens then another remedy
has to be chosen.

You can report what happens the following day after trying this.

Regards,

Simone

Hi, after three doses the rash seems to have flattened, but it is still itchy. Ideas? And he is exhibiting more chamomilla behaviour yesterday and today. I thought that homeopathy considered the totality of conditions so one remedy should be matching all issues, no?

Dora14 9 years ago
There is a chronic condition and there is acute conditions.

For acute conditions, which are things that come up
suddenly and will resolve on their own, Like Teething...
The remedy is matched to the symptoms of the acute.

So for example you could have your chronic remedy,
but then fall and injure yourself, you would take
a remedy for what just happened. And then go back
to the chronic remedy.

You can google chronic and acute prescribing. Kids
have a lot of acutes.

The teething is acute.
The rash ?? I don't know, it could have come about
from the other remedies that the homeopath gave him.

When was the last dose of graphites given?

simone717 9 years ago
I gave graphites last on the 14th. If everything that will resolve on its own is considered acute, then sleeping issues are acute as well? Even my 4.5 year old will start sleeping through the night eventually, maybe a few more years...

Dora14 9 years ago
Acutes are things, like cold, flu, sore throat, teething that
runs its course.

For sleep you have to determine the cause- all the above
can cause trouble sleeping. So when they resolve, the sleep
would resolve.

However, sleeping problems can be from chronic pain ( a chronic
problem,) they can be from emotional problems like grief,
and trauma, they could be from allergies, ( chronic problem)
so it depends on the cause factor whether it is chronic or acute.

Give another 3 doses of the graphites - same as before.
Stop after dose one or two if it seems to worsen.

Report the following day on what happens.

simone717 9 years ago
How about for a swollen gum? Feels like one of the "molars" coming. Very high fever, whining and refusal to eat, very unusual for him not to eat at all. Wants to be held all the time, but still whining.

Dora14 9 years ago
If you have done the graphites, wait a day,
and then do chamomilla again. 3 doses, and if
he gets worse, stop wait and watch, Give more when
he goes backwards. If you have to keep this up
like one or two doses a day till the tooth is out
then do that.

Meanwhile you can make up not more than two cups of
chamomille tea a day and have him sip on that, use
cold washcloths to chew on etc.
